Chapter 10
Chapter 10
After that, Mia somehow heard about this incident.
Furious, she confronted me, “You shameless Sienna, how dare
“You shameless Sienna, how dare you use your mother’s death to force Ethan to marry you.”
I looked at her like she was crazy, “You think he’s such a great catch? I’d rather stay single forever than marry him.”
But Mia didn’t believe I’d pass up such an opportunity. She pointed at me angrily, “Stop lying! A woman like you doesn’t deserve Ethan. Only I’m worthy of being Mrs. Gould. Give up already.
“You’re just a housekeeper’s daughter. You really think you can do anything to us? How naive.”
Her words struck a painful chord. I stared at her coldly, “Is that so? We’ll see about that.”
I knew Mia was right – as an orphan with no power or influence, I had no chance against their wealthy families.
After she left, I tormented myself by rewatching the footage of my mother drowning. Suddenly, something in the corner caught my eye and I froze.
Trembling, I rewound the video. There, at the edge of the frame, was a person. The reflection in the glass confirmed it was Mia.
She glanced toward my mother, then a slow smile spread across her face.
Following her gaze, I saw my mother desperately struggling in the water, calling for help.
Mia saw it all, but walked away as if nothing was wrong,
If only she’d called for help, my mother might have lived.
I stared at the footage in shock, finally breaking down in tears.
But even with this evidence, the defense lawyer in court still insisted Mia knew nothing about
my
mother drowning. They claimed she wasn’t looking in that direction at all, just retrieving something she’d dropped.
I was furious but helpless.
Just as the case reached a stalemate, I received a message from a follower.
That’s when I learned the horrifying truth – Mia was a repeat offender!
A year ago, she’d killed an 18–year–old maid the exact same way!
