Chapter 57
It was like everything happened in slow motion for Kimberly as she watched both her mates fight themselves like it's the last thing they needed to do. They clawed and bit each other without realizing that they had gotten to the edge of a cliff and that was where it happened.
Kimberly watched as Hugh scratched and clawed Roy at every chance he got, not giving Roy any room to retaliate, resulting in Roy being badly wounded. Hugh pinned him to the ground again, finally getting him where he wants him.
There was nothing Alan could do at the moment because he was fighting off two werewolves that had attacked him, preventing him from helping Roy.
They were both in dangerous positions, causing Kimberly to run towards them. She could feel her heartbeat getting slower by the minute, which meant she was losing Roy.
As she ran, she kept screaming for Hugh to stop his assault on Roy, but he could barely hear her as her voice was coarse from crying.
Roy shoved Hugh off of him, got on his feet and spun around, limping from the injury Roy had inflicted on his leg. He clawed Hugh on the face, causing him to fall to the ground. He struck Hugh on the stomach, earning a howl of pain from the latter. Hugh picked himself up and retaliated. He scratched at Roy's arm, leaving a deep cut there before charging at him, causing both of them to slam their bodies in one of the trees close to the cliff. The tree fell from the impact.
They both got up on their feet, circling each other as neither of them wanted to make a wrong move.
Kimberly was almost approaching them when someone wrapped his strong arms around her waist, preventing her from going any further.
“Let me go!” she cried, as she thrashed and struggled to wiggle out of the stranger's strong hold. “Leave it to him. Don't interfere.” The stranger said, making her to immediately recognize the voice as Elijah’s.
He was bleeding with several cuts all over his body and he was completely naked, meaning that he had just shifted back to his human form. But, that was the least of Kimberly's problem at the moment. All she wanted to do was stop both Alphas from killing each other. She tried and tried to get out of Elijah’s hold but he was too strong, so she gave up and sobbed in his arms, still pleading for him to let her go.
While both Alphas circled each other, neither taking his eyes off the other. Hugh didn’t notice that he was already at the edge of the cliff, until he missed his step. The whole place fell silent as all the werewolves stopped fighting to watch what would happen next.
Hugh clutched into the edge of the cliff as his body hung out. If he falls over, that would be the end. He tried to pull himself up but there was a huge gash on his back, making it too painful.
Roy watched with wide eye as Hugh tried to claw his way back to safety. The white moon pack watched in shock at their Alpha fought for his dear life.
Roy not wanting Hugh to end this way no matter how much he hated him, limped forward.
“Let me help you.” He said through mind link but Hugh growled, his eyes flashing hate.
“It doesn't have to end this way, Hugh. Let me help you.” Roy calmly said as he noticed Hugh slowly slipping.
Hugh's face flattered a bit but he said nothing as he was surprised that none of his pack members was even trying to help him. He stopped trying to pull himself up and stared ahead of him. There, some meters away stood his beautiful mate, her eyes puffy and red from crying. He could see the sadness all over her as she stared back at him, trying to get out of Roy's beta’s hold.
After waiting so long for her, was this how he was going to lose her? He is supposed her from any harm, not die like a weakling.
Taking one last look at her, his mind was already made up. He tried to pull himself up again.
Roy offered to help, which he reluctantly accepted to the relief of everyone present, because it was only a werewolf as strong as Roy that could help him up.
When it looked like everything was going fine, Hugh stopped midway and stared at his mate, with a look of apology. With his last strength, he pulled Roy to himself, causing the both of them to fall off the cliff. The only thing on Hugh's mind as he fell was,
If I can't have her, neither can you.’
