Chapter 45
“Hugh!” Roy growled and turned around, immediately shifting into his wolf form, running towards the direction of the woods.
He was beyond enraged. Why would Hugh do such a thing? This was crossing the line. He swore to himself and the moon goddess that he would tear Hugh apart when he gets his hands on him. “Roy!” Alan called out, also shifting into his wolf form going after Roy, Elijah followed behind.
“Roy, this isn't the right way to go about this.” He tried stopping Roy through mind link, but Roy wasn't in the mood for his uncle's bullshit.
“Roy, stop!” Alan warned, jumping in front of the larger werewolf who didn't think twice before pushing his uncle aside and continued his journey.
How could his uncle tell him not to do anything about it? This was his pack they hurt, the family he had swore to protect with his life.
Suddenly, he felt a sharp pain on his leg. He quickly turned around to see the source of his pain and noticed his beta’s fangs around his leg.
“Get off me, Elijah!” he ordered in his Alpha voice, causing his beta to whimper in fear but still didn't let go of his alpha's leg.
“You heard me, let go!” he barked, not wanting to hurt his beta in a way he would regret later.
“I'm sorry Alpha, but I can’t let you get hurt while I'm alive.” Elijah replied, upsetting Roy even more. What does his beta think of him? Does he think he’s some kind of weakling? He needs to teach him a lesson and show him what his place really is.
Before Roy could let his rage get the best of him, he was pinned to the ground by another brown wolf, who was none other than his uncle. He struggled under his uncle and the more he struggled to get his uncle off him, the more his anger slowly died down and that was what he didn’t want.
“I don't want to hurt you, uncle. Get off me.” He warned.
“Quit this madness, Roy!" Alan yelled.
"Hugh killing two innocent members of my pack isn't madness, but I getting a deserved revenge is?! Is that what you think, uncle?!” he yelled back.
“No, but I need you to control your anger.” Alan calmly replied, still not getting off Roy, as he pinned him firmly to the ground, not trusting his nephew's action, although he could see the anger slowly being replaced with sorrow.
“This is what he wants. We can't give him that privilege.” Alan continued.
“I know I'm not your father, neither am I your Alpha, so I have no right to tell you what to do, but I beg you to listen to me.. as your uncle.”
Those words were enough to make Roy quit struggling. He hated when his uncle considered himself less because he saw him as more than just an uncle.
Roy considered Alan as his father as they've always been that close. He had always felt like he had two fathers, one who trained him to be a good leader, which was his dad and the other who he shared his secrets with, who wasn’t hard on him, that was Alan. So, he would never forgive himself if he goes against his uncle.
“Fine.” He muttered and his uncle slowly got off him.
"Forgive me for going after you, Alpha. I was only looking out for you.” Elijah apologized with his head hung low in respect.
“Do not repeat that, for your own good.” He sternly warned, earning a quiet
"Okay." From Elijah.
“Let's head back so we can talk about this.” Alan said.
As they quietly walked back to the pack house, Roy couldn't help but admire his uncle's strength. For a werewolf his age, he was quite strong. It takes a lot for any other werewolf to hold him down, but his uncle did that without much effort.
When they got to the pack house, they noticed that the corpses had been taken away, probably to the morgue and they were currently scrubbing off the writing on the wall.
Roy could still feel his inside boil with rage, but decided to suppress it for the time being. They shifted back to humans and we're given a pair sweatpants before heading Roy's office.
“I know this is hard, but put yourself in his position.” Alan began
“What are you trying to say, uncle? That what he did was right?”
“That's not what I meant.” His uncle corrected.
"What I'm saying is, you wouldn't have reacted differently if you were in his place, but... that isn't the issue now.”
“Then what is?"
“I want you to let this slide.” Alan quietly said, knowing that wasn't the wisest thing to say at the moment.
“That's bullshit!” Roy angrily yelled.
“If you don't care about the pack, I do. They are my family, my people, my responsibility!”
“They're also my family, okay?!” Alan yelled back.
“God! I shouldn't have listened to you.” He exclaimed out in frustration
“Think about it. I just told him his former mate was dead and that he can’t be with his new mate because she’s also your mate... How do you expect him to react after so many years of being alone.” He angrily explained.
"He was already upset with the fact that you killed two of his warriors.”
“I don't care! These people were innocent unlike his warriors who attacked me!”
“Enough with the yelling, Roy!”
Roy's eyes immediately flickered from grey to yellow. His wolf was upset for being told what to do. Alan noticed this and let out a deep sigh.
“I want us to talk, not yell at each other.”
"How do you expect me to react when you're taking his side.”
“I'm not. I'm only preventing you from getting hurt.”
“I'm not weak, uncle.”
“I'm not saying you are, but at the moment Hugh is enraged.”
“And I'm not?”
“You can't compare yours to his. He wants you out of the way so he can have Kimberly, and the best way to achieve that is to upset you, that way you'd be blinded by anger while he has everything calculated.”
Roy kept running his hand over his face to control his anger. Hugh is a tough competition so he needs to think with a clear head if he wants to go against him.
“I've known him for years, Roy... his rage isn't something you can go against, believe me.” Alan said breaking Roy's thoughts.
"So, what do I do then?” he quietly asked.
“Nothing. I'll talk to him.”
“You are not going anywhere!” Roy retorted through gritted teeth.
“Yes dad, Roy is right. You're not going.” Elijah who had silently been watching his dad and cousin go back and forth finally spoke up.
“Calm down you two. I never said I was going to meet up with him, I only said I was going to talk to him... I'll give him a call.”
