The Lord, Chapter 30
“She ran away?” He, the Lord of this Land, watched the peasants from his throne. There was a few nobles and merchants in the Throne room, watching the ongoing of the day. Only he was draped with such exotic pelts and jewels, showing his status and wealth. On the floor beside him sat a female Landborn, her Felidae centaur legs exposed as she wore no clothes. Clothes were forbidden to Landborn in his castle. He pet her as if she was a cat. It was pleasant to feel her quiver in fear at his touch.
The lowly Knight, who brought the news, dropped to his hands and bowed his head further. “Yes. Her brother also took down many of our knights when we went to collect her.” His voice cracked, as he expected punishment for failing. And, punishment he would receive, but not yet.
“Did you kill him?” He asked, watching the men cower infront of him. Even the nobles and merchants backed to the walls, not willing to face his ire. Good. They knew well.
“No, we captured him alive you for my Lord.”
“At least you did something right. Bring him in.” He commanded. The Knights stood, and in came a man beaten and bloodied. His hands and feet were bound with thick steel, and around his feet and arms were thick chains. The only reason they would have bound him so tightly was if he posed threat. From his knowledge, the man had been stuck in the dungeon for at least a week. It looks as if the Knights took turns beating him. “How many Knights did he take out?” The Lord asked, eyeing the worm of a man. He did not look dangerous. Nor like he could fight even one Knight.
“10, my Lord.” The Knight was obviously devastated. 10? Just one man? He stood up from his throne. Everybody got to their knees, eyes away from him. He paced, a few steps either way. There was no way for a human to take on so many people. Even less likely, that he was able to kill some of his Knights. That’s right, just like its sister, it was not human.
“10 is impossible for a human.” He watched as the man looked up at him finally, eyes wide. Better. He grinned, he liked that look of fear. “This family, the Locke cannot be human. They from this day will be stripped of anything they own and become Landborn. They have a younger sister, yes?” He said, watching as the chained man suddenly began to thrash about. Yes, worm. Fight. It only made it more fun to break.
“Yes, she is in a boarding school for young ladies near the Capital.” One of the Nobel's said, answering him. How clever of them, hiding among humans.
Good. There was more. All the more to play with.
“Send someone to get her.” He sat back down, watching the man struggle wildly against his restrains. He was sure he would be screaming if the Knights hadn’t chopped his tongue off and stuffed his mouth. “As for this one, send him to dungeons.” He waved his hand, having the Knights take away the worm.
But they weren’t the ones he wanted. He wanted the wild one, the one they said was a skilled fighter and behaved like no woman.
He was unsatisfied.
He tapped his fingers along the scalp of the woman beside him.
He wanted her, now.
Perhaps it was time to test out the gift from the Scholars.
