Madilynne

Chapter Void

Madilynne’s P.O.V

“Sorry, nightmare,” I said, clutching my knees to my chest.

Kole let out a light sigh before sitting on the edge of the bed. “It’s fine, was up anyways. What was it about?”

“Miles. He killed them.” I whispered.

“You know they’re still alive right? Kade never stopped looking for you, until you turned up here. He’s giving you space to work things out. Look I know this is probably tough on both of you, maybe just call him?” Kole suggested as he laid his phone in front of me.

I gave Kole a small smile “Thanks for everything, princess.” Kole smiled back and made his way off the bed. “Anytime, Madi girl.”

Scrolling through the contact list I found Kade’s name. Pressing the call button I listened as it rang, Kole closing the bedroom door as I waited for an answer.

“Kole? How is she?” Kade’s voice came through. Gods I missed his voice.

“Kade.” I whispered his name, I could hear his breath hitch on the phone.

“Madi?” His voice was so soft, Making me break down in tears to finally hear his voice again.

“Hey, Shh love. What’s going on? Are you okay?” I could hear the worry in his tone.

“Yeah. I guess I’m okay. I just miss you.” I finally said, wiping the tears from my cheek.

“I miss you too love.” He sighed out.

“It’ll never go back to how things were before, will it?” I asked, my voice breaking.

“No.. We would have known by now. I.. I’m sorry Madi. I didn’t fight hard enough for you. For us.” I could hear his tone change, he was hurting too.

“Love, I think it’s best if you stay with Kole for now. He can train you, and his pack is the last one anyone would expect you to be at. I just want you safe Madi.” I could hear the concern mixed in with sadness.

“Yeah, princess is showing me the ropes already. I think it’s best staying here too.” I said with a light smile through the tears. Kade’s laugh echoed through the line, lightening my heart a bit.

“I’ll talk to you soon, love. Get some rest.” Kade spoke before ending the call.

Closing my eyes, I hoped for a peaceful sleep.

“Rise and shine Madi girl, today we work on combat skills. And you have school.” Kole’s gruff voice stirred me from my sleep. Reaching out, my hand lazily searched the bed for a pillow to cover my head with. “5 more minutes Kole.” I mumbled out. His words replaying in my head.

“Shit, I’m up. Out so I can get ready.” I popped up from the bed frantically, my eyes landing on Kole who stood with a smirk and his arms crossed at the end of the bed.

“You’ve got 10 minutes.” Kole laughed out. Are you kidding me? Fine, I can work with that. Running to the bathroom I brushed my teeth and threw my hair into a messy low bun. Acceptable. Darting to the closet, It hit me. I don’t have anything to wear. “Clothes are in the closet.” Kole spoke from the other side of the door.

“Thanks princess!” Throwing on a pair of black leggings, and a green flannel. The color of the flannel reminding me of Kade’s eyes, bringing a small smile to my face.

“Ready!” I shouted, opening the door as I put on each shoe.

“Mason will be taking you today. Combat training starts when you get back. Good luck today.” Kole said pushing off the wall he was leaned against.

“Okay see ya later, Kole.” I shouted as I ran down the hall. Reaching the car Mason was in, I could hear the music blasting through the windows. Rolling my eyes with a smile on my face, I got in.

The next several minutes were filled with Mason and I screaming out songs we didn’t know the real words to. It felt nice to be carefree for a little while.

“Alright see ya in a few hours, meet back at the car.” Mason laughed as we got out of the car. My ears still ringing from the obnoxiously loud music and singing. “Wait, you’re still in school too?” I asked a little confused. Mason rubbed at his neck “Yeah, was a little distracted chasing after girls last year. Apparently, that doesn’t count for credits.” I laughed as his cheeks tinged with embarrassment. “Okay see ya later Mason.”

The school was massive, I could see the office as soon as I stepped inside. Thank the Goddess for that. Entering the office, I was greeted with friendly faces. The office staff were incredibly helpful in directing me to my classes.

Most of my classes were just electives. Art, Computer science, and an extra business class.

Keeping to myself made things easy throughout the day, everyone distracted with the latest drama in their cliques. Business was the last class, Mason and I had it together and both of us had the afternoons free.

Finally, the bell rang, signaling we were on our free periods now. Mason and I walked to where he parked the car, “So how was your first day?” He asked bumping my shoulder.

“Not bad, Kept to myself mostly.” I shrugged as we walked. Mason gasped “What? No juicy gossip?” I laughed at him “I’m not one of those girls Mason, I prefer to keep to myself. It’s better that way.”

The drive back to the packhouse was much quieter this time. Finally arriving, Both of us got out of the car. “Change into something comfortable, Kole is going to work us. Meet out back.” Mason hollered as he sprinted up the steps to the house.

Reaching my room I threw myself onto my bed with a groan. A few minutes passed and I got up to change. Throwing on a pair of shorts and a loose-fitted tank top, I laced up my shoes and headed outside.
