Chapter Luna Of The 64
Chapter 64
"HOW IS SHE? Siegren's eyes flicked up from his papers as Porta entered study, worry etched deeply into his features. He was relieved that the effects of the curse didn't last long after sating with Helgan few more times, but that didn't mean his worry and guilt were finally gone. He sat behind his large oak desk, shaking his legs under the table while waiting for the beta female to answer. Portin stood before him, her fingers tightly clasped in front of her, unable to hide her own worries about Helga's well-being. The sight of her covered in love bites and marks was alarming. But she knew it was unavoidable, as the curse compelled Siegren to mate with his wife with such intensity. "She still hasn't woken up, and she has a slight fever, Your Majesty, Portia replied with a heavy heart. She knew that her words would only add to the Alpha King's guilt, as he was responsible for the Queen's current condition. Siegren let out an anxious sigh and massaged his temples in frustrations. The thought of leaving his wife alone first thing in the morning to work was already gnawing his conscience enough, and now there was a chance she could become seriously ill and need medical treatment because of his selfishness Shit, I knew I shouldn't ask for her help again," he muttered as regret washed over him. David, who was seated on the sofa, gave him a worried glance.
"You know that would only worsen the situation." His beta remarked. While he sympathized with Helga's predicament, she knew what she was signing up for when she married Siegren and accepted her role as the cursed Alpha King's cursed mate and Luna. "If you were to stop mating with her during each full moon, it could significantly shorten your lifespan, and that is a risk we cannot afford to take, especially in the midst of an ongoing conflict with Narva over territory"
"The early arrival of their delegation was a clear indication that they intended to discuss territorial disputes. If things do go in their favor, they may resort to threatening us with war."

David's words hung in the air, causing Siegren to furrow his brow in frustration. Deep down, he knew that his beta was right, but he couldn't bring himself to admit it out loud. Portia, who was listening to her mate's side of the conversation, felt a pang of guilt wash over her. Despite her strong desire for Helga to stop being the sacrificial lamb for the Alpha King during the full moon, she knew it would only make things worse.
As the room fell into a heavy silence, the weight of their dilemma bearing down on them, but David wasn't done voicing his opinion on the matter, and so he continued speaking as the second-in-command of the royal pack.
"You can only stop mating with her during the full moon once the curse has been lifted, Alternatively, if you already have an heir who could take over your position, because surely your health would deteriorate from enduring the pain each time you stop yourself from rampaging." David's voice grew more urgent, his eyes locking onto Siegren's as he tried to make him understand the gravity of the potential consequences if he were to choose to no longer seek Helga's help.
"I understand this is a difficult choice for you, especially now that you've confirmed that you're in love with her but-"
"Huh?" Portia couldn't contain her surprise as she heard the words spill out of David's mouth. Even Siegren was taken aback and stared incredulously at his friend, unable to believe that his beta had just exposed the secret he was trying to keep hidden from everyone, including Helga. "Wait, His Majesty is actually in love with the Queen?"
Suddenly, the room fell into an eerie silence. Portia's eyes darted between Siegren and David, searching for confirmation of what she had just heard, but neither of them spoke a word. The only sound was the faint chirps of birds outside and the clock ticking, filling the void left by their sudden lack of conversation.
"I won't disclose everything I hear in this room to the Queen." She raised her hand to make a promise, breaking the heavy silence before looking between her mate and the Alpha King until Siegren let out a deep sigh.
"That's right, I'm in love with her, and it wasn't just the mate bond speaking... However, I had no plans to reveal this to her until I knew for sure that she felt the same way. I didn't want to burden her in any way with my feelings."
With a calm posture, Sicgren leaned back in the chair and crossed his arms tightly against his chest. Portia on the other hand, felt her heart fluttered with newfound excitement as her previous worries turned into something entirely unexpected. She couldn't help but feel intrigued by the fact that the Alpha King had developed romantic feelings for Helga without the influence of a mate bond. Now, her mind raced with anticipation, wondering how their relationship would unfold.

"I completely understand Your Majesty, I will not speak of this to anyone." Portia saying, "I will excuse myself now, I still need to tend to Queen Luna."

Siegren's gaze shifted from David to Portia before nodding his head. As soon as she was out of sight, he released a heavy sigh and let his eyes wander up to the ceiling in defeat. He felt like things that needed his attention just kept on piling up one after the other. At a time like this, he wanted to be near Helga and take care of her himself, but his responsibilities as King forbade it. For now, he should try to lessen their intimacy so her body wouldn't suffer that much, and for that to be possible. he decided to throw himself into his work and only engaged in physical intimacy with his wife during the full moon. "HOW ARE YOU FEELING?" Portia asked when Helga finally woke up, noticing how disoriented she was. It was already late in the afternoon, meaning she had missed both breakfast and lunch. "Mmnnh, I feel okay..she lied through gritted teeth, trying to hide the excruciating pain she was in as she forced herself to sit upright on the bed. But Portia saw right through her facade and gently placed a hand on her shoulder, stopping her from making any sudden movements that could worsen her already fragile condition.
"You still need to rest," the beta female insisted, "There's no-use in trying to deceive me; it was quite evident that your entire body was suffering "I have duties I need t

"No, Your Majesty. Your health comes first, take the time you need to feel better, and then you can resume your work." Portia. cut her off as she placed a hand on the queen's forehead and let out a relieved sigh when she noticed her fever was completely gone. "I'll have the servant bring you some food that is easy to digest," "Thank you." Helga nodded in gratitude, refusing to let her stubbornness get in the way as she listened intently to Portia's advice. The memory of her wild and passionate night with her husband flooded back, causing her to realize that she would need to take it easy today. The mere thought of attempting any activity today was met with a resounding no from her body Every inch of her being ached, a dull pain that hinted at the physical toll last night had taken on her. Even the simple task of lifting an arm or leg felt like an impossible feat. She might have enjoyed having sex Siegren no matter how rough and how many times they've done so, but she knew she needed to work on her stamina in bed. Otherwise, she would continue to fall ill after each mating, hindering her from fulfilling her duties. She couldn't bear the thought of of making Siegren worry or or feel guilty every time, especially since could tell from the way he acted during dinner last night that he was considering stopping their mating rituals during the full moon. She had already reassured him that she was okay with it, but it was clear that it was still on his mind. Although she understood his reasoning, she couldn't him suffer, even before they marked each other and bound their fates together. Ever since he very beginning, it had been her decision to help him. Not simply because it was her duty as his mate and Luna, but because she genuinely cared for him. She couldn't bear to see she learned his story, a deep sense of protectiveness had welled up inside her. It may have started as sympathy, but now, as she spent more time in his presence, she could feel a stronger pull towards helping him-one that surpassed mere responsibility and pity; it was something deep, one that she knew she had to suppress. "What's his majesty's doing? Is he fine?" Helga asked while she was eating, she suddenly reminded how she and Siegren fed each other last night.
"I was at his study earlier, he was busy with work, and he seemed fine to me except for the fact that he was worrying about you," Portia replied softly. She had promised not to reveal the Alpha King's love for Helga, but she hadn't said anything about helping Helga see the truth for herself. "It was the first time I've seen him so worried about anyone else." "Well, wasn't it normal? He might be feeling guilty because he was aware that he was the reason why I was stuck in bed like this Helga let out a soft chuckle, feeling a slight tinge of embarrassment rise in her cheeks. Despite not going into detail, she still felt self-conscious discussing her passionate evening with her husband. Deep down, she knew Portia was already aware of it, but she couldn't help feeling shy and hesitant to openly talk about it.
"I don't know but it feels deeper than guilt, The beta female gave a nonchalant shrug, hoping that Helga would catch on to what she was hinting at, but Helga didn't seem to pick up on it at all-or perhaps she had simply chosen not to give any meaning behind it.. 12:31 Fri, Oct 18
