Chapter 61

THE REALIZATION hit Siegren like a sudden bolt of lightning, raving him feeling confused and overwhelmed. He couldn't believe it; he was in love with Helga. The words escaped his lips before he could even process them as if they were the most natural thing in the world. What was even more surprising was that the answer came to him in the midst of seeing her fierce fighting skills on display. He felt a strange mix of emotions coursing through him, now that he knew his feelings for Helga were not just a result of their mate bond. His mind was a jumble of thoughts and emotions, and he didn't know how to make sense of it all.

"Are you mad at me?" Helga's gentle voice broke the silence, pulling him out of his deep thoughts and causing him to jump slightly as she wrapped her arms around his shoulder from beldid. He was sitting on the plush sofa, staring into space her touch brought him back to reality. She had just gotten out of the bathroom, dressed in a soft white bathrobe. Her hair was still damp, tiny droplets of water falling onto his bare arm, but he didn't mind as her intoxicating aroma filled his senses. Each time she leaned closer to him, it sent khivers down his spine, a sensation that never failed to make his heart race. "No, why would I be?" he asked, reaching for the side of her head and gazing at her with affection.

"Well, you suddenly walked away while I was sparring with Ga***a Lucian," she replied, releasing her grip on him and striding ahead to sit beside him. She ran a towel through her damp hair, glancing sideways at him with an intense gaze. At first, she was skeptical about showing her fighting skills to him, but she thought that as long as she didn't transform into her wolf form, it was fine-she was certain he would be impressed by her skills, but when he abruptly left while the fight was still in progress, a sinking feeling had formed deep inside her stomach "That's because..." Siegren trailed off, unable to tell her that the reason he abruptly left was because he realized he had feelings for her. It was too embarrassing to admit out loud, especially since he didn't know if Helga felt the same way. He was Jerrified of finding out that her affection was solely based on the mate bond.. "Because? Did something happen?" Helga tilted her head, curiosity on her face. He did not want to lie to her, so he shook his head.

"No, I just remembered that I still have papers that I need to sign, so I finished my work early," he explained calmly, and she let out a small hum, relieved that her unexpected sparring with Lucian had not upset him. After all, she didn't tell him about it and went ahead with it anyway. "Your skills are impressive. Who taught you all of that?" he asked, genuinely curious about her skill. Although he hadn't been able to watch the entire spar, he could see that she was skilled beyond measure, effortlessly keeping up with Lucian's lightning-fast movements despite their obvious differences in physique. And the fact that she emerged from the fight unscathed, knowing full well that the g***ma never held back in a spar, spoke volumes about her immense prowess as a fighter.

"I just observed the warriors in each pack that took me in and trained on my own whenever I could." Helga answered. That was the truth; she had sharpened her abilities that way. However, she withheld the fact that her father was the one who first taught her when she was just five years old. Because if she were to mention it, Siegren's curiosity would surely grow, which meant that he would probably start asking questions that she couldn't answer. "That's impressive, self-taught, isn't it?" he said, and she nodded slowly again. "How about we spar sometime?"

"Huh?" Helga's eyes widened as she didn't expect him to make such a suggestion. Though the suggestion was not particularly outrageous, she couldn't help but be surprised while also anticipating it. In response to her curious expression, he chuckled and pulled her close to him by her hips, placing a soft kiss on the corner of her lips.

"Sparring with you sounds fun, let's do it once we have more free time. How does that sound?"

"Yeah, of course!" Helga exclaimed enthusiastically. Now that she thinks about it, she actually enjoyed training against Lucian, even though it was only for a short time. His abilities were truly impressive; he reminded her of someone she had fought with previously due to a misunderstanding. He had the same physique as Lucian, but his appearance was softer and more refined than Lucian's rugged features, Thinking back, she wonders which pack the he-wolf belongs to.

By the way, are we going to spar with bare hands?" Helga inquired, returning her attention to the conversation they were

having before her thoughts wandered to other things. "I want to practice my swor

"We can do that too." Siegren smiled and kissed the top of her head. "If you promis not to hurt yourself, I think we will have a lot to learn from each other."

"How about guns, do you know how to use them?"

"Hmm, not really... I wasn't that skilled with firearms," she replied, standing up and walking towards the wardrobe to begin selecting her clothes to change into Siegren remained seated, watching her every movement.

"Do you want me to teach you?" he asked, smiling mischievously as his eyes scanned over her figure appreciatively as she began slipping off the robe.

"Really? Then teach me she glanced at him for a moment before turning her back against him, causing Siegren to swallow hard as he caught sight of her smooth naked body. His eyes greedily took in every curve and dip, knowing that she belonged. to him. He could feel his heart rate quicken at the thought of exploring every inch of her skin with his tongue, tasting her and making her scream his name until there was no air left in their lungs. But before he could indulge in these desires, there was one important matter that needed to be addressed first. "Helga," he he said hesitantly, standing up quickly, approaching her, and helping her in getting dressed. Her breath quickened as his warm fingers brushed against her bare back while he buttoned her nightgown, his body radiating heat all around her. "W-what is it?" she stammered, somehow the atmosphere between them changed drastically as soon as he touched her. The butterflies in her stomach started fluttering wildly, especially when he took her arm gently but firmly, and turned her to face him. Their gazes locked, and Siegren was overwhelmed by a wave of warmth that made it nearly impossible for him to think straight. He struggled to find his words, wanting to know if her feelings towards him were genuine or simply a result of their mate bond. With a determined swallow and a I a gentle clearing of his throat, he mustered up the courage to speak. "I was wondering-

Before he could complete his thought, a loud knock echoed through the room, causing them both to jump. His gaze snapped towards the door, a small frown forming on his face. "What is it?"

Your Majesty, I have something to show you." the butler's voice carried through the thick wooden door.

"All right, I'll be there," Siegren sighed before kissing Helga's forehead and cupping her cheeks, "Wait for me, I will ask the servants to serve our dinner here."

"I

"Okay," Helga nodded in agreement as she watched him exit the room. As soon as she was alone, her mind couldn't help but speculate on what he was about to say to her. Judging by the expression on his face, it seemed like a serious matter. She pursed her lips and ran a comb through her he hair while waiting for his return. She had no doubt that Siegren would inform her of whatever it was; at least, that's what she believed. "WHAT IS IT?" Siegren's tore made the butler uneasy as if he were being scolded. He could tell he had interrupted something, but he felt compelled to inform the Alpha King right away about what he had seen while checking the books in the library. found a pic I a piece of paper clasp in one of the books I was checking," the butler replied, quickly taking the book when they arrived at the library. He swallowed hard before handing it to Siegren, who took it from him with narrowed eyes. His body froze as he saw the piece of paper with the familiar handwriting. He couldn't be mistaken, it was his mother's writing. It a appeared to be from her diary, and she ripped off the page before placing it in another book. Siegren was about to start readmg it when suddenly, a sudden jolt shot through his body, causing his heart to skip a beat and his skin to ignite with searing heat. His breaths came out in ragged gasps as his vision blurred and his knees buckled beneath him. It felt like knives were slicing through every inch of his skin, forcing him to collapse onto the hard floor with a resounding thud. He was unable to move, consumed by the intense agony coursing through his body.

"Your Majesty the butler exclaimed before looking outside the window and realizing that tonight was going to be a full moon. It had completely slipped their minds as the entire royal pack was so caught up in the positive changes within the palace. He couldn't believe everyone had forgotten about the curse of the Alpha King.
