Chapter Confusion
Before Timber could react; Lillian got up, winked, and ran off in her body, abandoning Timber. Lillian transformed into a golden wolf. Lillian ran as fast as Timber’s body would allow her to go. She did not stop until she crashed into Ronald who was leaving Mountain Foot Village to go check on Timber.
“Oof! Timber! You need to stop crashing into people!” Ronald cried out, “Wait... Why aren’t you at Luccardo’s place resting?!”
Lillian opened her mouth about to reply in a mean way, but then she caught herself.
“Sorry, Ronald... I got tired of doing nothing and so I went to find you,” Lillian said in Timber’s voice.
“I was coming back, it’s not like I was going to abandon you forever,” Ronald said.
“Aw, you’re the sweetest!” Lillian said. She felt like gagging when she said those words.
“You didn’t happen to run into any trouble on your way here, did you...?” Ronald asked, looking around nervously.
“No, not at all! Why would there be trouble? Everything is so peaceful!” Lillian said.
“How about we head back to Luccardo’s house then?” Ronald asked.
“Hmm? Why?” Lillian asked, tilting her head to the side. She felt a sharp pain in Timber’s neck where it was stitched up.
“Because, you aren’t completely healed yet. Luccardo shouldn’t have let you out of the house,” Ronald said.
“Man... Sunshine is good, right?” Lillian said, trying to think up an excuse Timber would likely use.
“You’ll get sunshine on the way back. You’re not usually this stubborn...” Ronald said.
Lillian shut up and looked at the ground, pretending to be innocent.
“Follow me, Timber,” Ronald said, walking away.
Lillian didn’t follow, she ran and hid.
Meanwhile:
Timber had gone to the police station in Lillian’s human form despite the fact that she didn’t have decent clothes on. As soon as she walked in the door, all the officers around were alert and watching her. She had her sister’s ears down, trying to pull off an innocent look in a different body.
“Excuse me, ma’am... Why are you here...?” one officer asked, nervously standing ready to defend himself if needed.
“I need help... Right away...” Timber said.
“Yes, yes you do. Last time we checked, you were dead,” the officer said.
The other officers agreed with him.
“I’m not who I appear to be... Please listen...” Timber said.
“Alright, we’ll listen. No funny business though, or we’ll report you to the queen!” the officer said.
Another officer took out a notebook and pen to record the conversation.
“I am Timber Gold Smith,” Timber begun.
“No you’re not! I said, no funny business! You’re clearly Lillian Defiant Smith!” the officer said.
“No, wait! Please, let me explain!” Timber cried out, she was about to cry.
The officer took pity on the young girl in the raggedy clothes and decided to listen.
“I had gone to Fairwood Field this morning after I woke up to get some sunshine because I figured it would help me heal faster. Well, I wasn’t in the field for long before I was attacked by my sister, Lillian. She tricked me, telling me she would borrow a little of my light and be good for the rest of her life... What she really did was switch bodies with me and so while I’m here with you guys, she’s probably off causing chaos in my body to get me in trouble!” Timber said.
The officers were silent for a moment before they all burst out laughing.
“Well, Lillian! I didn’t know you were so good at telling jokes! I appreciate you coming to cheer us up and all, but you’ll still have to go to the dungeon to await your punishment!” the main officer said.
“No! Officer! I’m not Lillian! Please don’t lock me up! Please! Please! Please!” Timber cried out, falling to Lillian’s knees to beg the officer.
“What do you guys think?” the main officer asked his coworkers.
“She killed innocent children... We still haven’t found the bodies...if there is anything left of them... She probably ate them...” one officer said.
“I agree! She brought so much grief to our kingdom in such a short amount of time! She’s nearly as bad as Scotty Hepburn!” another officer said.
“Guys, while I respect your opinions, I must remind you, we do not murder people because we are angry that they murdered others. Our job as police officers is to protect the citizens of our kingdom by punishing those who have purposely broken the laws. I say, if this ten year old girl is to be killed, let it not be out of spite, but out of a need to protect everyone else,” yet another officer replied.
“Why should it matter if we kill her? Didn’t Timber Gold Smith already kill her?!” another officer asked.
“Then it is settled. We send Lillian Defiant Smith to the castle dungeon to await her death sentence in order to protect Fairwood Kingdom,” the main officer said.
Timber cried out in fear. She felt extremely frail and helpless trapped inside her sister’s body. This had to be the worst day ever!
