Chapter 81
Mason did not immediately let her go.
He pressed her against the wardrobe door, his large palm slipping into her robe, teasing her lightly, "What could be more important for you to do than me?"
Zoe, of course, was familiar with such tricks from a man like him.
She slightly tilted her head, enduring his teasing. Occasionally, she could not help but let out a soft moan.
After a while, her eyes were misty as she spoke, "Mason, I told you that I was not going to be locked up like a bird in a cage. The freedom to go where I want and do what I want was part of the deal.”
Mason did not inquire. He released her, giving a light snort. “It seems Mrs. Lockwood is planning to do something big."
Then, right in front of her, he took off his bathrobe and started dressing. Mason had a great figure.
He had a tall and well-built frame, covered with a thin layer of natural muscles, not an ounce of excess fat, but also not the type of muscle mass developed in the gym.
He stripped down to just a black pair of briefs.
The package underneath made Zoe turn her face away slightly, a faint blush appearing on her face, adding a touch of femininity.
Mason really liked her like this.
He lightly touched her face, chuckling. “Last night, you seemed to enjoy yourself quite a bit."
Perhaps because he had been satisfied, or maybe due to Zoe's docility, Mason was in a very good mood.
Ava clearly felt it.
Approaching the office door, Ava hesitated and said, "Mr. Mason, your mother came early. She's been waiting for you for half a day.”
Mason's good mood vanished in an instant.
He pushed the door open, and indeed, his mother was sitting on the couch drinking tea.
Mason held the doorknob, smiling faintly. “Mom, why did you come to the company? Having issues with Grandma again?"
In contrast to Mason's relaxed demeanor, Lisa was visibly more tense. She glanced at Ava, instructing her to leave.
Ava hesitated.
Mason turned his head. "Get out."
Once they were alone, Lisa began questioning her son. “I know your relationship with Zoe hasn't been good lately. I understand that you want her to come back. After all, the Lockwood family needs a daughter-in-law. But what I can't understand is why you gifted her 2% of the shares of the Lockwood Corporation.”
Mason sat down, smiling lightly.
"You seem to know things so fast.”
Lisa sternly said, "No woman from the Lockwood family has ever owned shares in the Lockwood Corporation. Mason, it's alright to be good to your wife, but you shouldn't spoil Zoe too much."
Mason casually replied, "A little pampering of my own wife is no big deal.”
Lisa stared at her son. After a while, she sneered.
"Mason, are you spoiling her because of that bastard? You found out that Zoe had a thing with him. Are you afraid that if you divorce her, she'll fall straight into his arms? Is that unbearable for you that you would do everything to keep her, disregarding the cost? Mason, are you insane?"
In the spacious office, the mother and son tore apart the facade, revealing the uncivilized truth.
Lisa's expression lost its elegance.
Mason had long been used to it. He quietly watched his mother, softly sneering. "Didn't you teach me to use any means necessary to achieve my goals?"
In the end, Lisa left in anger.
After she left, Mason stood alone by the floor-to-ceiling window, looking out at the panorama of Brookesville.
His mood had soured. He was indeed bothered by the thought of a specific person, and his mother had exposed his darkest side.
The whole day, everyone in the Lockwood Corporation was careful, afraid of provoking Mr. Mason.
At five o'clock in the afternoon, Mason decided to leave early.
