I Fell For The Boy His Daddy Was A Bonus

Chapter 39: Luca’s Claims

Luca was holding Scarlett’s wrist, his eyes fiercely looking down at her. He asserted, “Scarlett, please. Let’s talk.” “But, I’m with
the child. I cannot talk right now.”
Tust, there.” Luca pointed out one comer of the lobby. “Leave the child in the seat and we can speak while you can still monitor
him.”
Reluctant about his proposition, Scarlett hailed for one of the front desks, asking the lady to watch over Liam. She followed Luca
to the isolated part of the lobby where they both practically whispered their exchange. Seeing that Liam sat on the sofa with the
receptionist, Scarlett returned her gaze to Luca. She asked, “What is it, Luca?
“Why are you letting another child call you a mother?” Luca asked. “I thought you wanted a child you could call your own.”
"Of course, I want my own child, but it does not mean I cannot love another,” she quietly answered. “And why are you asking
this. It’s really none of your business.” Luca swallowed air down his throat. He peered in another direction before focusing on
Scarlett’s eyes. He asked, “I thought you could not accept that I had become sterile. Was that not the reason you decided to
justuse me instead?”
“What?” She asked, “Where did that come from, Luca? I was there for you throughout your difficult times. I accepted that fact
about you. Why would you ever think that?”||
“Because Courtney and your mother Analisa told me this,” Luca reported, his jaws clenching as he revealed it to Scarlett.” They
told me everything, including the times you tried to turn Cindy and Philip against Courtney.”
“Why would you believe them?” Scarlett said, her face forming a full grimace.
“Because, Scarlett. No one knew. No one knew about the details of my illness and the after-effects of it.” Luca’s eyes were
building as he claimed, “Only you! I told only you! Not even my parents knew how bad it had become for me. You were the only
one I trusted with my conditions. You were the only one who knew that I could never have a child.”
‘What? What is he saying?’ Scarlett reflected silently.
“I don’t know what to say, Luca. I never told anyone. I swear on my life!” Scarlett’s voice nearly raised. She signed and
massaged her head, saying, “I knew how that illness affected your spirit, and I would never tell on you. Back then, I would never
hurt you on purpose!”
“Just! Tell me the truth, okay, Scarlett –
“I swear I did not!” Scarlett countered. “I don’t know how mother Analisa and Courtney found out about it, but I promise you, I
never told them. Whatever they said to you was a lie.”
“And that includes only using me and my father’s influence to become a lawyer,” Luca suggested. “And you did it because you
were not getting the support you needed from your parents. And when you were done, you were planning on leaving me,
anyway!”
Agrimace formed on Scarlett’s face. She replied, “Okay, Luca. I get it that your parents somehow sponsored my schooling during

high school and that mother Analisa and I owe your family. And while it was with your influence that I got into your family’s law
firm, I thought you helped me freely. Why would that count as using you?”
“Because my father said that you tried to seduce him. In exchange, you wanted to find faults in your parent’s dealings, so you
could take revenge on how they favored Courtney over you! You became impatient to get your so-called justice, to the point that
you would sleep with my father?”
Scarlett froze. She had lived with the Jameses for a long time with her mother Analisa. While Luca’s parents no longer batted an
eye for her after their breakup, she did not expect a lie to come from Luca’s father. She did not know for how many times she
blinked, but eventually, her senses returned to her.
She countered, “You would have still helped me get what I thought was right for me, Luca. I do not see why I would need to go to
your father. My god! That is a blatant lie!”
At that point, Scarlett’s voice could not help but raise. She said, “All I wanted was to be accepted and loved by my parents! To
show them that I was better than Courtney. Yes, I wanted to be a lawyer, but that was because I saw you every day, your father
every day. I saw you and your father practice the same line of work, and I always looked up to you both!”
The tension built around them, and for a good minute, silence engulfed them.
Scarlett could see the anger burning in Luca’s eyes. He grabbed onto Scarlett’s wrist and warned, “You better not be 11640
me, Scarlett »
You know what, Luca! Whether you believe me or not, I. DON’T. CARE. YOU HAVE RUINED US. PERION M. blood was boiling
to a level unfathomable to her. She just could not stand being in front of Luca anymore. She declared, Thank you for talking to
me today. At least now I know. For you to believe other people that easily and not put your trust in me, you were never worthy of
my love.”
She turned away, her hands clenched, but just before teaching for Liam, she could not help but feel her eyes water.
***FLASHBACK: THREE YEARS AGO***
*I’m sorry Mister James, we still cannot determine what is causing your illness,” said the doctor. “It could be viral or an unknown
disease. All we know is that it is affecting your veins. It is affecting your blood flow, hence, it’s causing temporary blindness too –

*Is it really temporary? But it’s not just my eyesight? Sometimes, my hands and feet get numbed,” Luca pointed out. “We will
have a few more laboratories done, Mister James. Rest assured, we will do our best to get to the bottom of this. In the mean,
time, we can address the symptoms by providing you with medications,” the doctor replied before finally excusing himself.
Luca had been in an out of hospital for two months. His education was temporarily put to a stop due to his illness.
Each time, when Luca would get admitted, Scarlett was always there for him, never minding that she was also in law school and
had work to attend to. As for his parents? They were busy running a business.
Not only were the Jameses the biggest shareholders of the James and Powel Law Firm, but they also invested heavily in real

estate too. It always kept Hazel and Elias James involved that they barely have time for Luca.
“Scarlett, Luca said in a weary tone. “What if this gets worse? I will never be a lawyer. It’s been two months.”
“Luca, don’t say that. Scarlett sat next to him on his hospital bed. She embraced him tight and said, “You’ll get better, I promise. I
promise you will. Maybe it’s best you stay here in the hospital until you fully recover. Don’t return home. I’ll come by every day. I’ll
sleep here if I have to. Just... stay strong for me, Luca.”
“I will always be here for you. Let’s work on eating healthy, keep your system clean and let’s have faith that you will get better.”
It was another three months before Luca showed improvement in his health. At least he was able to return to school, being able
to function normally. However, his ability to have a full erection had not yet returned.
It affected Luca’s pride. Apart from having gone through a stage of uncertainty, he felt incomplete, not being able to perform as a
man.
Despite Luca’s predicament, there was one thing he was happy about. In the months that followed, Scarlett agreed to be his
girlfriend, and she accepted him, despite knowing he may not give her a child.
Months turned into a year. Luca was getting better. He had all his hopes up, especially since he was starting to get an erection.
However, in one follow-up check-up with his doctor. It was then revealed that Luca had turned infertile.
That day, Scarlett and Luca returned to the Jameses’ estate with long faces. They lingered on the mansion’s patio, just thinking
about their future.
“Scarlett looks like I won’t be able to have a child of my own. Would you still want to stay with me?” Luca faintly asked with a
sullen expression.
“What matters most is that we have each other,” Scarlett replied. “I will always be here for you, Luca. ***END OF FLASHBACK***
