Falcon’s POV ~

It had been a ridiculously exhausting day and I was happy to be back home! Everett called the King in regard to the none warrants he had to file within his departments.. the two he issued for the Culvers and the Kill On Sight order for the human hunter Nathan Henry. Within 24 hours, the shakeup happening at council headquarters was being talked about everywhere. Nathan Henry will have heard about the kill order on him.. and we have no doubts the Culvers knew they were being hunted. The rewards on those three alone, could feed entire families for years!

Brady came in with Sabrina.. and sat down. Something seemed a little off.. but I was busy with arranging an export of amber to the far east, so I paid little attention. Anna was ordering the monthly groceries that we needed to feed a pack this size and Axel was running monitoring on local packs for any signs of the Culvers or Henry.

After about a dozen sighs, I pinched the bridge of my nose.. “Out with it! Why are you two acting like someone kicked your puppy!?” And Sabrina states “He’s a jerk!” I nod.. trying to think of something intelligent to say … “I agree.. but I’m going to need a little more to go on?” She huffs out at me “He doesn’t like kids! And he should have told me that before he mated me! I want kids! How can I have a pup if he doesn’t even like them? How is that fair!?” Okay.. maybe I didn’t need a little more to go one.. I stuck my foot in it.. and quite frankly.. it’s quickly becoming one of the biggest regrets of my life. Fuck!

Brady tries “I never said I didn’t like kids. I said I didn’t want them… right now.. Maybe in a few years. But she took it to mean.. Never! How is that fair? Putting words in my mouth I didn’t say!?” And Sabrina lets loose a sob.. running out of the room. Axel and I look at Brady and not one of the three of us have a clue!! Anna says “How’s that taste, bro?” looking at Brady and he asks “ How does what taste? What did I do? What the fuck just happened?”

She laughs… really laughs.. “Your foot!? The one lodged in your mouth? So.. you don’t want kids… not right now!?” He shakes his head.. “No! Can you imagine how fucked up a pup of mine would be?! Some days I forget to even wear pants! How the hell could I be a role model for a little person?” And again she laughs.. Now I’m completely confused,too! Why is she laughing? “You might want to figure it out! I’d say you have about seven months to learn!” And he looks at her with a completely blank expression.. I’m not much better.. what happens in seven months? Is he going to change his mind? Will he be ready in seven months? What does that… OHHHhh FUCK! “Dude! You better pucker up and get ready to kiss a lot of ass! Sabrina is pregnant.. isn’t she, Anna?” At her nod, Brady ran for the bathrooms and threw up.

I start laughing.. then Axel can’t hold it in anymore. Brady comes out of the bathroom and says “Please excuse me while I grovel!” and leaves. Making us laugh harder! Anna tells us “That boy is a lost cause! But the next few months should be funny as shit!” Axel smiles “Bonnie and I want to have pups next year or so. But if it happens.. it happens! What about you guys?”

And I choke on my own spit! I know I have that deer caught in the headlights look and Anna giggles “We haven’t even discussed pups yet, Axel.. you put poor Falcon on the spot! It’s a moot point right now! Because, as spirit wolves, the decision is not ours to make. Othello and Bethany will make that choice.. and they are saying it’s not time, yet. There is a coming battle and Bethany says the Goddess doesn’t want the pup in danger to hinder our ability to fight!” And I hear myself release the breath I had been holding.

She comes over, crawling into my lap.. she whispers “It will happen, when it happens. And we Will be ready, my love!” I kiss her so deeply she fights back a moan.. and I say “I’m good with that!” She smiles so gloriously, my breath catches again.. for a completely different reason!

The phone sounds in the office, and it startles me! Anna giggles again! Little minx! I hit the speaker and answer “Rivera” … static crackles and we hear “Falcon! Falcon! It’s Allison! You have to help us! Charlotte and I are running from our father! He’s crazy, Falcon! Out of his mind! Trying to sell us! The Alpha of Crescent Gold Pack is an evil man! He tried to rape Charlotte! His name is Elijah Renaldo… and he paid my father $80,000 for us.. then he tried to auction me off to the highest bidder at an Alpha summit in Colorado. We’re scared and you’re our only hope!”

I mute the phone “What the fuck!?” Axel looks at me… “on it… researching summits in Colorado.. “ Anna turns ler laptop.. having already found Crescent Gold… I sneered “Trying to set us up for something?” She nods… then she laughs.. “Tell them to make their way here… I have a plan!” So, I unmute the phone and say “If you can make your way here, I will provide protection until your mother can get here..” Allison thanked me… saying I won’t regret it! No.. but you might!

I am reading about Elijah Renaldo.. as Anna points out the number. I dial it… mostly for shits and grins, and decide to have a little fun! “Hello.. Alpha Elijah Renaldo” and I reply… “Alpha Renaldo… this is Alpha Falcon Rivera of Amber Mountain… enforcer for the Royal Council.. We have received some interesting rumors, in regard some criminal activity you might be involved in” Anna writes on a piece of paper ‘keep him talking.. we are hacking his security system.. the idiot has his phones hooked into it!’

He sputters “I am involved in nothing illegal! I have never been! Tell me who is defaming my name and reputation! “ I whisper “He sounds flustered!” So, I make a Hmmm sound before responding “So.. you didn’t pay a Robert Culver over fifty thousand dollars for his two daughters.. both under the age of 21.. then hold an auction there, in Colorado to sell one of them? Their mother is quite concerned and is considering taking this to the King” I link Anna… a lie..yes..but if he believes more people are interested, he’s going to fuck up…. She simply nods.. never looking away from her computer.

Renaldo snarls “I pay for no woman! And whoever said there was any auction is a liar! Tell their mother to contact the king! There os no sign of anything untoward happening here!” I look at Anna, then at Axel and they both give a thumbs up. I tell him “I will tell their mother I followed up for her, with you… hopefully, her daughters have no proof against you, when they reach her” and hung up.
