Chapter 58 Sophia
–
The second that I leave the room with Oakley and my mates, my back slams against the wall and my face falls into my
hands. I slide down the wall and sit there, unable to comprehend what happened.
th
I knew that they were my mates when I saw them at the trial. Before that, when they came into my office demanding that
see Oakley. The second that they came onto the property I smelled them and I immediately tamped down the matebond. I couldn’t deal with them at that point. I had to take care of Oakley, keep her identity as safe as I possibly could. But now, now
that she’s made her decision, I’ve got to deal with this.
Two gorgeous mates are mine. I can accept them. I can make them mine and move on from this lonely, dangerous life that I lead as the Goddess’s go between for her descendants and the rest of the wolf population. Move on. Even if Oakley stays and doesn’t become the strongest luna, there will be one in this generation. I could go to serve her.
I already know that Jack and James want nothing to do with the Silver Lake Pack and neither does their father. My mates would follow me wherever I want to go. I just have to accept them.
My younger sister would very willingly take over my position and she is more than qualified. Her mate died years ago and she has no desire to try to find her second chance mate. Had even prayed to the Mother Goddess that she be released from any
possible matebond to her second chance. She had been raised the same way that I had and when our aunt stepped down as Head Commander, she begged to be allowed to take her place.
But it was something that the Mother Goddess chooses, not something that we do. I was ready to take the position that
was given to me.
But that was before I met my mates. I have been doing this for 13 years and I’m happy. I hadn’t wanted to find my mates
and had honestly hoped that I never would
But now I have. And I don’t know how I’m going to reject them. How do I push them aside?
That one little touch when I helped Jack stop hyperventilating broke down my walls. It weakened my hold on the
dampening power I held on the matebond. The second touched him, I felt everything. I felt the sparks and the need and the
pull. I felt so much longing for them.
I’m a 34 year old she-wolf. I was eligible to find my mates when I was 18. I had thought that I had filled my life with plenty. My job. My parents. My friends. My purpose. I thought that it was all that I would ever need.
But then, I saw them and I knew that it wasn’t enough. It wasn’t even close to being enough.
They were what was missing from my life.
“Goddess, why have you done this to me? Why did you give me mates that I could love with my whole heart, that I have already started to fall in love with, only to make me chose between them and you?” My voice is quiet, tears falling from my
cheeks. But the prayer that I send up to the Mother is so heartfelt that it feels like a chasm should open up around me, my pain
open for the whole world to see.
I’m not looking up, so I don’t see her appear. It isn’t until I feel her hand on my head that I look up to see Elina, Oakley’s mom, and my old friend and charge, in front of me.
I know why she is here. She’s here because of my prayer to the Goddess. She’s here because the Mother heard my prayer
and she’s sent Elina to give me an answer.

Dlask her.
Chapter 58 Sophia
–
“Because you deserve it,” Elina says simply. “You deserve all the happiness that your mates can give you, that your service to the luna will give you.”
“Even at the expense of my purpose?” I ask.
“You have served your purpose, Sophia. And now the Goddess seeks to reward you,” Elina s
smiles at me.
I think about it, staring at her as I think about it. “But that isn’t what the Goddess really wants me to do, is it?” I say slowly.
Elina studies me. “Why are you so insistent that the Goddess doesn’t want you to be with your mates? She made them for you. Why wouldn’t she want you to be with them?”
“Because of the d amn prophecy!” I yell at Elina.
I
“Aye, it’s there, but that doesn’t mean that you should let it stress you out this much. The Goddess just wants to give you a choice. I swear to you that’s all it is. Your prophecy is there just to tell you that you will live a happy and purpose driven life no matter what you choose,” Elina tells me.
I lean my head back against the wall and stare up at the ceiling. “Why do I have to give up my job, my purpose in life, just so that I can have mates? Why can’t I have both? I would be able to do both. Many wolves do!” I plead.
“Not wolves that have such high ranking or powerful jobs. You are supposed to have all of your focus on caring for the Elite 10. However, knowing that Oakley is going to be a part of the Elite 10-Elina starts.
Ray.
“What?! She’s already made that decision?” I ask, surprised. I had definitely thought that she would have stayed with Ra The two of them seem deeply in love. Sh it, that’s going to destroy him.
“No, she hasn’t made her decision yet. But it’s looking more and more like she will. With each passing day and each decision that she makes, it’s looking like that’s the direction that she’s going.” Elina responds, a sad smile on her face.
“What about Ray?” I ask.
“60/40 chance at the moment. The odds being in the favor of the Elite 10, Elina says.
“So, there’s still a chance that she’s going to stick with Ray?” Task,
Elina shrugs. “Sure. I doubt it, but yeah, there’s a chance.”
“So, you were saying about Oakley staying on as part of the Elite 10?”
“If she does, her brothers may be helpful to her. If Oakley stays, the Mother is willing to give you your mates and your purpose. You could do both” Elina says, her smile bright on her face.
I’m in shock. It takes me several attempts to get what I have to say out. “S-5-5-seriously?”
Elina’s laugh bubbles out of her chest, just like it always had. “Yes, seriously. The Mother is proud of you, Sophia. She wants to show you that by following her, you will get everything that you need. And then some”
I feel like my smile is going to split my face it’s so large. “Thank you! Thank you, Mother! I exclaim.
“She says that you are very welcome!” Elina says. She clasps my hand to her chest and then she winks out.
Just then, Oakley walks out of the room. She looks at me, a little bit of fear in her eyes. “Have you figured out what you’re gonna do?”
“Yes,” I say, smiling brightly. “I’m going to accept my mates.”
