Chapter 84 Stop Entangling

He ran as fast as he could, sweat dripping from his forehead and his breathing labored.

When Nash saw her, his concern grew even more. “Caroline!” He rushed over, his eyes scanning her anxiously from head to toe. “Are you alright?”

Caroline shook her head slightly.

“I didn’t see your messages, I didn’t reply, and I definitely didn’t set up this meeting,” Nash said quickly. “I just found out about it and rushed over. Julia didn’t do anything to you, did she?”

Before Caroline could respond, Julia abruptly got to her feet. “Nash, what’s that supposed to mean? Do you think I’d hurt her? Is that why you came rushing over like this?” Her voice turned defensive as she added, “Why don’t you care about me? What if she was the one who hurt me first? I’m your fiancée! Shouldn’t I matter more to you than she does?”

Julia had lived a life of privilege, indulged and accustomed to everything bending to her will. When upset, she relied on others to soothe and comfort her.

“Nash, I only asked her to meet because I wanted to see what kind of woman you liked back in college. I wanted to know what made her so special so I could learn from it and make our relationship even stronger. Why do you always assume the worst about me?”

Nash hesitated, his expression unsure. “Julia, I… well, this…”

Julia stomped her foot, her frustration evident. “And another thing–you’ve never been a couple, and you haven’t spoken since graduation. Why does she think she can just ask for your help now? You owe her absolutely nothing! I came here to make it clear that she needs to back off. Our relationship is strong, and our wedding is coming up. She has no chance!”

Caroline remained quiet, standing off to the side, her face calm but her heart heavy.

Her sadness didn’t come from seeing Nash and Julia together but from Julia’s demeanor.

It was obvious Julia had grown up surrounded by love and care. She could freely express her emotions, knowing she’d always be understood and supported.

But Caroline?

She had lost the ability to show her feelings long ago.

Whether it was joy, pain, or sorrow, she kept it buried inside and dealt with it on her own.

Because there was no one to turn to.

She only had herself.

Nash moved to stand beside Julia. “Julia, Caroline isn’t what you think. And… I do owe her something. If she’s in trouble, I want to help. We’re just friends, so don’t overthink it.”

“Friends? What kind of friend messages you late at night?

“She probably had an urgent issue,” Nash said, glancing at Caroline. “I’m sorry–Julia has full access to my

Finished

“It’s fine,” Caroline replied with a faint smile. “She’s not wrong–I was out of line. I’m sorry. It won’t happen again. Let me cover the bill for today.”

Not wanting to stay any longer, she went to the front desk, paid, and left in a taxi.

She had always known Nash was engaged, but this was her first time meeting Julia.

Julia was undeniably beautiful, wealthy, and deeply in love with Nash. They made a perfect pair.

Even if Nash had been watching over her all this time, and even if he was the biological father of her child, the fact remained…

It was time for them to stop being in contact.

Caroline sighed, realizing she had been too desperate for evidence. In her rush, she had crossed a line by reaching out to Nash.
