Chapter 28
The next few days find Will in a foul mood. If you could see his aura it would be black. Will was shielding himself from others and trying to find his purpose. Even Amy knew to leave him alone, he would work it out.
“Will, I know you are having a problem right now. In the past, you use to take a walk. Why don’t you do that today? There are a lot of paths around here. Go be with the animals and nature for a while.”
“Would you mind? I do need some time to think.”
“Go ahead. I have a meeting with Susan and Jennifer this morning and will take Johnny with me. If you see the wolves, let them know I have been thinking about them.”
When Amy and Will first came to Paradise, they would walk the woods and unwind. Quite often a pack of wolves would join them. The wolves acted like pets around them. Even the alphas would come up to them wanting attention. They really took to Amy and at the time became very protective of her even when no one else was around. Both Amy and Will could communicate with them, maybe that was why they all got along with each other so well.
For several hours, Will walked along the paths behind the complex. At first, not even the birds or rabbits seemed to want to be near him. Finally, a lone wolf approached with its head and tail down, not making any eye contact. Will recognized it as the alpha male and sat down by a tree waiting for the animal to approach.
“Lord, even the animals know I am in trouble.”
The alpha male slowly comes over to Will and places his head on Will’s lap. For several long moments, Will just sits there doing nothing. Then slowly his hand starts to pet the animal before him. His mood begins to lift and the others come out of the woods. The alpha male’s tail comes up and for the first time, he looks into Will’s eyes. There is an understanding between them.
The pack lies down around Will and soon everything is at peace. Will closes his eyes and begins to daydream.
‘Will, your mission has not yet begun. You are to save mankind from a disaster that could destroy the world and all of mankind. Learn to use the powers I have given you. When the time comes, you will know it and I will be there with you.’
Will opens his eyes and the forest before him is hazy as if covered in smoke. The wolf pack is resting around him and the alpha male still resting in his lap. The haze begins to lift and Will is no longer concerned about his mission or his future.
Will continues to sit there but tells Amy that he is okay. He also tells her about his dream. He needs to practice his skills. They are going to go on another road trip.
Time goes by and the evening air begins to get cooler. Will finally gets up and says goodbye to the wolf pack. They part ways and Will heads back to the complex.
Amy and Johnny are in the apartment when Will walks in. They sit and talk about the dream. Will isn’t sure what he will be required to do or what kind of disaster it will be, but he knows now that he and not the others, will be the one responsible for saving mankind.
As they finish their conversation there is a knock on the door. Amy answers the door and finds Pastor Jones, Bruce, and Bob waiting there.
“Pastor Jones, so good to see you. Have you come to finally see the baby?”
“That is one of the reasons. The other is to help Will with the mission. He learned something new today from what I understand. I hope you don’t mind but I asked Bruce and Bob to join us.”
“That is fine, they are welcomed any time. Won’t you come in?”
For the next 15 minutes or so, everyone holds little John. Then the pastor looks to Will and asks what happened.
“My mood has not been the best for a couple of days and Amy suggested I take a walk. I think she wanted me out of the house. Anyway, I walked behind the complex for a couple of hours. The wolves were with me, but didn’t want to approach; even they knew I was in a foul mood. I finally sat down under a tree and the alpha male came over and sat with me. I closed my eyes and started to daydream. The Lord told me that my mission had not yet started. I was to learn to use my powers and when the time came I would save the world from a disaster that could destroy mankind. He said I would know when the time came and that He would be with me.”
The pastor looks into Will’s eyes and says, “So now you are going to leave us again?”
Amy and Will both look at each other and then the other men sitting there. Will says “Yes, I need to practice my skills and this is not the place to do so. Everyone here is aware of my capabilities and most of them have some of the same skills. I need to practice in the real world. I don’t know what skills I will need, but I will be prepared. The Lord will be using me to save the world and I will be ready.”
“Yes, you will be. These two young men will be with you as well. From now on, they are to be by your side. They will keep you safe and centered. Do not question them, they, too, have a mission from God and that is to assist you and keep you and your family safe. You have trained them well. They are ready for what the future brings. You will be in church tomorrow, won’t you?”
“Of course. I haven’t decided when we are leaving or where we will be going. The RV also needs to have some maintenance done before we can leave. Bruce and Bob, do you guys need anything?”
“I think I need to replace my RV. It has well over 150,000 miles and the generator has been giving me problems, the water heater only works on electric now and the one air conditioner quit working. Now is a good time to get one, with the season at an end,” replies Bob.
“I was thinking the same thing. I have had mine for over 10 years now and the trips back and forth from Florida to Colorado have taken their toll. Tires also need to be replaced.
“Monday morning, we will take the rigs into the dealers. Since you are now my bodyguards, Amy and I will pay for your rigs and we will not hear anything about it.”
“Yes, Sir!” they both reply.
“Pastor, I am going to step away from the complex. I am going to give Jennifer, Susan and John total control. Would you be able to help them if they need it and manage the donations to keep things running here?”
“I will do what I can. Money is no longer an issue. You have plenty in the bank for the expansion and all operations for years to come.”
“Thank you. Well, it has been a very emotional day for me. In addition, I haven’t eaten anything since breakfast. I will see you all at the service in the morning. Thank you for coming.”
Sunday morning, the service was kind of subdued. At the end of the service, Pastor Jones told everyone about the mission and that four of their members would be leaving for a while to follow God’s plan for them. Rather than sadness which is what Pastor Jones thought he would see, joy filled the auditorium. No one was happier than Jennifer and Susan. After church, Amy and Will sat down with Jennifer, Susan, and John.
Will starts off, “Guys there is no easy way for me to begin. I feel that I have abandoned you here for so long. You have been doing an outstanding job. I will not force you to stay. If you want to leave or follow us, I understand and will welcome you. We can find someone else to run the complex.”
Jennifer interrupts Will, “John and I have been discussing it. We both really enjoy managing this place and with the new expansion almost complete, you will need experienced managers. We want to stay.”
“Then, you need to be compensated. So, before we leave, I am going to sign over the complex to both of you. You are the new owners. You will continue to get funding for operations from the donations that have been coming in. Pastor Jones tells me that there is more than enough money to keep this place running. I would start looking for ways to raise money over the next few years, but that is up to you. Donations can fall off at any time, but for the next 2 or 3 years, there is enough money in the bank to keep things operating. Congratulations.”
John says, “Will, you can’t do that! We are here because of you and have no desire to take this away from you and what you are doing.”
“John, you are not taking anything away from me. I am giving ownership to you both so that you have a vested interest in this place. Owners are always better at managing than employees. They see and implement things that would improve the business where employees just want to collect a paycheck. This is about making the complex better.”
Jennifer asks, “Are you sure? This is a very expensive gift.”
“Yes, I am sure and it is not the money. I have almost recovered what I invested in this place already from my investments and this is not what God wants me to do. Both of you are good at managing this place and that is good enough for me.”
They both respond, “Thank you.”
Amy speaks up, “Susan, you have been a big help around here and Will and I really do appreciate it. We know that you are not one of us, but Will would like to try something. He has been working on a skill that allows him to give additional skills to the followers. If you are willing, we would like to try and give you some of these capabilities. In addition, we will be paying you a salary if you want to continue to stay here and help Jennifer and John.”
“I don’t know what to say. Everyone has been so nice and the work I do around here keeps me busy. The apartment, food, and services are really good. I really don’t need money, but I would like to continue working here if Jennifer and John will let me.”
“You are more than welcome to stay. Your skills in the office would be hard to replace,” says John.
“Then I will stay. I am not sure about these abilities you folks have. It is strange to be around you when you communicate with each other. Nothing is said yet you are all on the same page all the time. Even when you guys are gone, Jennifer and John talk like they just got off the phone with you. What else can you do?”
“Before Will came along, we all had varying skills or abilities. We could talk to the animals, read minds and in some cases place thoughts into the minds of others. Will can do so much more. He can control groups of people that can hear or see him. He has control over the human body up to and including life and death. We all telecommunicate over just about any distance with each other. Which is why we seem to be in constant sync with each other. Having these abilities is a lot of responsibility. There are times when I wish I could not read minds and I have to really control myself when someone thinks something I consider stupid or dangerous,” explains Amy.
“Wow, that is amazing and very frightening. I don’t think I am ready for that.”
“That is fine, Susan. I would not want you to be afraid or concerned about things that you might not be able to control,” replies Will.
“Susan, Pastor Jones needs some help as well. We were thinking that you could work here and at the church both on a part-time basis. Your salary would be $40,000 a year plus your room and board. What do you think?” asks Amy.
“That would be great! Thank you so much. I can’t believe after all I tried to do to you that you would be willing to help me like this.”
“Susan, we all make mistakes. I made one in how I handled you. I had other options, but at the time I felt what I did was the best option. I am sorry for what you went through.”
With the business out of the way, Amy and Will thanked everyone and promised to keep in touch. After they left, Will called a neighbor to come babysit. Amy and Will went for a walk to see some old friends.
The wolves were waiting for them when they entered the woods. Amy and Will spent a few hours with them before returning home.
Monday morning, Will, Bruce, and Bob take off to the RV dealership. Being the end of the season, the shop is not busy and Will is able to get them to commit to getting the work done within a week, including 6 new tires. Bruce and Bob get a hold of a salesman who does his best to discourage them from just about any rig. Clearly, this guy didn’t want to sell any RVs. Finally, Bruce and Bob have enough and after communicating telepathically, they agree that Bruce should change the way the salesman is thinking. He finally comes around and is more than happy to sell two Class A motorhomes at five grand over costs. Surprisingly, the sales manager also agrees. Will writes a check for the two RVs and all three rigs will be ready the following Monday.
Amy and Will share the chores around the apartment and when they are on the road. It is Will’s turn to do the dishes and he has a wild thought. While he is working on the computer in the kitchen, he takes a minute and telepathically turns on the water, loads the dishes in the sink, pours some dish soap in the pan and waits for the water to fill. Amy breaks out laughing uncontrollably.
“It’s like watching Mickey Mouse in Fantasmic without all the water flooding the place!”
With all the laughter, little John wakes up early from his nap. Will gets up and again practices with his newest ability. Little John floats into the living room with Will following behind. Amy blows a gasket!
“You will NOT practice on our SON! What if something goes wrong? You could sneeze and poor Johnny would go flying across the room. What were you thinking!”
Will smiles and raises his hands and says, “Okay.” With thoughts of Johnny flying across the room in his mind, he returns to working on the computer and the dishes.
Everything rolls along pretty smoothly. The RVs are picked up and packed. Bruce and Bob practice setting up and driving the new rigs since it was an upgrade from their older rigs. Amy cleans up the apartment as they won’t be around for a while.
The four of them sit down to try to figure out where to go. West coast seems to be the consensus as it is closer and has many large groups of people to practice on. The three of them are sitting around after dinner when they have a visitor, Pastor Jones stops by.
Will greets the pastor, “Good evening, pastor. This is a pleasant surprise. To what do we owe this visit?”
“Good evening, folks. I got a call this afternoon from the President of the Baptist Convention. They would like to have you tour the churches and spread your message from God. This might be a good way to practice your powers. Like we talked about the other day, as a minister you would not have the ability to reach as many people. You could heal so many more people this way while practicing your other powers when the situation arises.”
Amy speaks up after the pastor finishes. “Will, this sounds like something we should do. We can let them schedule the services moving from south to north to follow the weather and west to east as time permits.”
Will asks Bruce and Bob what they think. Everyone agrees that this sounds like a good idea.
“Pastor, can you provide the contact information? I will contact him in the morning to start the ball rolling.”
The next morning Will contacts the Baptist Convention and starts the ball rolling.
The Baptist churches have all heard about Will over the last couple of years. The following week, the team is ready to hit the road and on Wednesday, Will’s 40th birthday, Amy, Will, Johnny, Bruce, and Bob arrive in LA. Turns out they will not be at a church at all. The largest church in LA only seats around 2000 and with multiple churches wanting to have Will speak, it is decided to use something a little bigger. Will is to speak at Dodger Stadium, with seating for 56,000 people. They arrive at the stadium and at 1 in the afternoon, it looks like a tailgating party for the Super Bowl. Thousands of cars, trucks, SUV and RVs are in the parking lots. When they check in with the guards, they are escorted to a private parking area. As they finish setting up for the night, they are greeted by no less than 40 ministers. The crowd of ministers escorts Will and his little band of followers into the stadium. It is a little after 4 pm with services slated to start at 7 pm. The group is led to a conference room and they are shown their seats. One of the ministers approaches.
“Please, forgive me, my name is Pastor James Hamilton. We are so glad that you have agreed to come and speak with our members, but we don’t know what to call you. To us, you are known as the Second Coming of Christ. Do we call you that or Mr. Smythe?”
“Please call me Will.”
“Thank you. Please call me Jim. We have arranged for dinner and then if possible a short meeting before you are led outside. We are expecting a packed stadium. People have been arriving all day and the gates will open at 5:30. You can speak as long as you want and on any topic that you want. But before we do that, let’s eat. You have had a long trip and will have a busy night ahead of you.”
“Thank you, Jim. Please let me introduce my little band of followers. “
As Will starts to speak, what little conversation there is stops as the ministers become quite.
“This young lady is Amy, my wife and our son, John. Next to Amy, are Bruce and Bob, our closest friends. I am Will. Before we eat, I would like to do something and then there is one of you who I want to speak to.”
Will turns to Amy and quietly says there is a telepath in the room. Please connect with him and have him come up front to speak with me. Amy nods her head.
“As I look around this room, I can sense that some of you are ill. You may or may not know it. Please do not be afraid. I want you to come to me now. For God has told me to practice the powers he has given me. I see no better way than to heal other men and women of God. So please, come forward now and dinner will be something we can all be grateful for.”
It takes a few moments before anyone stands and comes forward. The first is a woman minister who is diabetic.
“I am Pastor Debra. I am a diabetic. The side effects are beginning to make it so I have trouble standing or walking. My hands are going numb and I require more insulin to get by during the day.” She kneels before Will.
“Debra, with the powers given to me by God, you are now healed.” Will touches the shoulder of Debra and a soft white glow can be seen by all.
Debra stands and for a moment, hardly moves. Then she starts to cry uncontrollably. She looks at Will and falls to his feet, crying. Will picks her up and holds her.
“Is everything alright?” He asks her.
“I have no pain in my feet or hands, none at all. Walking up here was so painful, I wasn’t sure I could do it. Is the diabetes gone?”
“Yes Debra, the illness is gone and you will suffer no more pain.”
Immediately, others come to Will. For the next 30 minutes, Will heals those that come to him. Dinner is served and the conversation is muted. Ten ministers have experienced a personal miracle today that they will never forget.
After dinner, a younger minister comes to Amy.
“You asked me to come?”
“Yes, you are telepathic?”
“How did you know?”
“Will sensed it. Do you have other powers?”
“I am not comfortable talking about this here. No one knows and I am not sure what they would think or do.”
Amy switches to telepathic questioning so none of the others would know or overhear. Will, Bruce, and Bob join in. After a few minutes, Will asks the pastor to visit their RV after the services tonight and he agrees.
It is approaching 6:30 pm and the group heads out to the stadium. Amy, Johnny, Bruce, and Bob are led to the VIP seating in front. Pastor Hamilton and Will stay behind the stage. At 7 pm, the Pastor and Will take the stage. 56,000 people scream and then become silent as the Second Coming of Christ walks up to the microphone.
For an hour Will tells the people his message from God. “Live in Peace; Help your fellow man; obey the 10 Commandments.” Then he is silent for a minute.
“God has given me some powers that you may or may not have heard of. Tonight, I am going to show the world what God can do. Illness affects many of you as it has your ministers. Today, prior to dinner, I asked your ministers to come forth if they had any illnesses and they were healed!”
Cries from those 56,000 people could be heard well outside of the stadium and around the world on the Christian Broadcast Network that was broadcasting live.
“Tonight, you will be healed as well!”
This time it was several minutes before Will could continue.
“If you are able, please stand and pray with me.”
Will leads the group in a short prayer.
“By the power given to me by God, you will no longer suffer from any illness or injury, so help me God!”
People say that the entire stadium lit up with a white glow as if all the stadium lights went to high power all at once. Those in the stadium had to close their eyes as the light was so bright. When the light dimmed there was total silence. Slowly, you could hear the crying start. Tears of joy were soon falling from many of those in attendance, who for the first time in years were without pain. It was after 10 pm before Will and his party could get back to their RVs. The young pastor was waiting.
As Will walks up to him, he says, “Hello, I’m Will,” taking his hand.
“I’m Steve. You realize that what you did tonight has never been done in the history of man. Not even Jesus performed mass healings. I am in awe just standing here talking to a man who …”
“Steve, let’s go inside, too many people walking around out here in a daze.”
Once inside, Steve is introduced to Amy, Bruce, and Bob. Amy excuses herself to put Johnny to bed.
“Steve, let’s start with we are all telepathic and we all have some unique powers. I would like to know about your powers. What can you do? When did you learn you could do them?”
“I’m not sure what I can do. I can hear people thinking and animals too. Animals seem to do whatever I tell them to without me even saying it.”
“When did you find out you could hear people thinking?”
“I don’t really remember. It was when I was in grade school I think.”
“Have you ever tried to have people do things or did they seem to do what you were thinking?”
“There have been a few times, but I just chalked it up to coincidence.”
“Well, I can tell you they were not a coincidence. There are hundreds of thousands of us who have some level of power. Many of them only with animals, others like yourself that can influence people as well. Two things we all have in common are we are telepathic and we cannot affect others telepathically.”
Bruce says, “Except for Will.”
“Can I heal people like you?”
“So far, no one else has been able to control the body like Will,” says Bob.
Amy enters the room and says, “Will has been able to give us additional powers, but they seem to be limited to individuals and not groups of people.”
“Steve, we have a church in need of a pastor to help out. Our current pastor is not telepathic, but he is in touch with God and has on numerous occasions, counseled me. He is aware of my mission from God, but with his church and our assembly, he is overworked. Having a telepathic that understands our powers would be a great asset, you see we have several thousand other telepathic that stay in an apartment complex we run. Would you consider moving and picking up some of the duties and helping out Pastor Jones?”
“The Second Coming of Christ is asking me if I will minister to his flock. There is no way I could or would ever pass that up. Of course, I would be honored to do so.”
“Great, when would you be able to leave here?”
“I am not assigned to any church duties yet. I just arrived in LA a few weeks ago. I will ask Pastor Jim when he feels I can be released. Where will I be going?”
Amy says, “Paradise.”
Steve’s color fades, “Paradise as in Heaven?”
Everyone laughs except Steve.
“Paradise, Colorado. Previously known as La Veta, Colorado. South of Denver.”
“Let me know tomorrow if you can. You know how to get in touch with us.”
“I will.”
The meeting broke up. As they were exiting the RV, Pastor Hamilton walks up to them.
“Jim, I was hoping I could find you. Would you mind if I borrowed Steve for a church we have in Paradise, Colorado to help out our current pastor who is overworked?”
“I would be honored to be able to help you out. Of course, he can, if he wants to.”
“All settled then. Steve, Amy will provide you the information you need. We will have an apartment available when you get there. I will let Pastor Jones know you are coming. Thanks, Jim. Now, is there something I can help you with?”
“Well, yes, there is, if you have time. I have a parishioner that could use your healing. She was not able to be here tonight and even has trouble making it to church most weekends. From what we have been told, she has terminal cancer and less than 6 months to live. She knows nothing of my request.”
“Make arrangements for tomorrow morning. Please pick me up when things are arranged.”
“Thank you from the bottom of my heart. This young lady is very special. Her work with animals is in line with the movie Dr. Doolittle.”
Will looks at the other members and says to them that she may also be telepathic.
The next morning, Will is picked up around 8:30 by Jim and Steve.
“I hope you don’t mind, but Steve asked if he could attend. Since he is going to be working with you, I figured you wouldn’t mind.”
“No, not at all.”
“The place is only about 30 minutes away and she is expecting us. She has no idea why we are visiting.”
They leave the Dodger Stadium parking lot and head towards the west side of town. After about 20 minutes, the traffic ahead comes to a sudden stop. Emergency vehicles have the lanes closed and Will senses trouble. He gets out of the vehicle and runs up to the accident. A vehicle has run off the side of the road and into a draining ditch. The van is up to its doors in water and starting to slip into the stream. The rescue crews are having problems securing the vehicle. Inside Will can see several children and at least 3 are hurt. Will finds the chief in charge.
“Chief, I can help. Please pull your men back and make an area for the van, do it now!”
“Sir, please, we have this under control. Please step back.”
Flying above this is a news chopper on the air live.
Will knows that time is not on their side and has the chief do as requested. Jim comes up to them just as the Chief has his men make room.
Will closes his eyes and says a quick prayer. When he opens his eyes, he reaches out with his right hand and lifts the van from the water, raising it out of the ditch and onto the side of the road. He runs over to the children.
As the van touches down, millions of viewers witness the van flying through the air and gently landing on the side of the road. What the viewers don’t see is what happens next.
None of the rescue crew moves. They cannot believe what they have witnessed. With his mental power, Will pulls the doors off the van and slowly guides the children out. Two of the children are hurt pretty badly, an other has a broken arm and leg. Will lifts the child with a broken arm and leg out and he flies through the air to a waiting ambulance. Now, others are rushing in to help. Will has them stand back. The child in the front of the van has a broken neck and is about to pass away when Will reaches in and touches her. The van begins to glow white with a bright light. Several of the rescuers shield their eyes and when the light fades, they watch Will raise the child out of the seat and into their arms. Another paramedic is looking at the little girl in the back of the van and tears come to his eyes and he shakes his head, she didn’t make it.
Will reaches in and pulls the girl out of the van. With a deep breath and a silent prayer, Will places his hand on the girl’s head. Slowly the skin on her head begins to glow; it spreads down her neck to her upper body and then her legs and arms. She begins to breathe and opens her eyes. Her arms go around Will’s neck and she hugs him. She is back from the dead. As Will exits the van, every firefighter and paramedic is kneeling before him in reverence. They know that the Second Coming of Christ has saved these children.
The news chopper continues to broadcast the scene, but no commentary follows. Multiple miracles have just taken place and words cannot express what people are seeing or feeling.
Jim calls his parishioner and tells her they will be late. He also tells her to turn on the news and she will know why.
It takes over an hour before the traffic begins to flow. It is another hour before Will can leave the area. When they are ready to leave, a police escort is provided to get them to their next stop.
As they pull up, there are cars all up and down the block. Jim, Will and Steve park in the driveway which has been left empty and walk up to the door. Inside there are at least 30 people standing around. Word has spread that the Second Coming of Christ is coming.
There was no way around it, Will had to address the believers. With no room inside the house, Will has everyone come outside and asks them to pray. Pray for the young lady and for the children that were hurt today on our way here.
As the people pour out of the house, Will and Steve quickly determine that the young girl, Dee, is telepathic. Will also realizes that she is one of them.
Will tries to connect with Dee telepathically, ‘Dee, my name is Will. Can you understand me?’
“Yes, how did you do that?” response Dee.
“I sensed that you are telepathic. You are also special. Pastor Steve and I are also special. We will talk later.”
Will completes the prayer request and turns to Dee.
“Dee, I understand from Pastor Jim that you have terminal cancer and only a few months to live. God has given me the power to heal the body.” Will looks at the crowd, lays his left hand on Dee’s head and says, “With the power given to me by God, your cancer is gone.”
With a warm glow, the deed is done. Dee is cured. The group slowly leaves and Dee, Will, Jim, and Steve go inside. There is no way to get around the next part. Will wants to discuss things with Dee about her capabilities, but Pastor Jim knows nothing about this side of Dee, Steve or Will. To do it via telepathic communications would also be strange.
The answer comes to Will when Amy contacts him. He is on the news.
Will asks, “Dee, would you mind if I turn on the TV, I want to see what is being reported by the news from this morning.”
“Sure, I was watching it when Pastor Jim called earlier. Were you really able to do what they were saying? Did you really raise the van, heal the children and bring that one girl back from the dead?”
“Yes. God has given me those powers.”
With the news playing, Will contacts Dee via telepathy.
“Dee, my wife is going to contact you if that is okay. She is also telepathic.”
Dee looks at Will and then replies, “Sure. Is there a problem?”
“No, we would like to offer you some assistance, which Pastor Jim might not understand.”
“Okay”
“Amy, go ahead and contact Dee, we will be leaving here shortly.”
“Pastor Jim, we should probably get back. I wanted to leave in the morning for the next get together and I still have to do some inspections and lay out the route.”
“Sure, your next stop is San Diego. Dee, will you be okay?”
“I am great. I need to contact the doctors; they are going to go ape over this. My last visit they were kind of negative. Wait until they see me this week!”
They say their goodbyes and head back to Dodger Stadium.
The next morning the team heads to San Diego and the Qualcomm Stadium. Will didn’t think the crowds could possibly get bigger, but Qualcomm seats over 70,000 and they were scheduled to hold two services.
As they are driving to San Diego, Amy takes a phone call from Bishop Donavon, the senior Bishop in the US.
Amy answers their cell phone, “Hello, this is Amy.”
“May I speak to Mr. William Smythe, please, this is Bishop Donavon.”
“Bishop Donavon, Will is driving at the moment; this is his wife, Amy. What can we do for you?”
“We have heard that Mr. Smythe is speaking around the country and would like to have him do a few sermons with us if that is possible?”
“We would be honored. Will wants to spread the message from God as much as possible. Currently, we are in the southern part of California and will be heading east during the winter months. Do you have any locations in mind?”
“Nothing yet. Let me have my staff work some locations up, then get back with you. I do appreciate this. Is it true that Mr. Smythe saved those kids and cured all of those people and raised the one child of the dead?”
“Yes, Father, he did. We are heading to San Diego for a service Saturday and Sunday. If you have any staff that would like to attend, we can probably find a few seats. From what we have been told, the stadium is filled to capacity both services.”
“That would be wonderful. Can you find room for say 6 people?”
“I am sure we can. We will be staying on site in our RV. Please have them find us for Saturday service as soon as possible. I will let the people in charge at Qualcomm know to expect them. Is there anything else we can do for you, Father?”
“You have been most kind. My staff will be in touch once we know where we would like to have the services. Thank you and May God be with you in your travels. Goodbye.”
“Well, it looks like the Catholics would also like to have some services. That was Bishop Donavon. He said his staff will contact us when they know where. Also, he is sending 6 people to listen to your services on Saturday.”
The group arrived at Qualcomm Stadium and was escorted to a private area of the parking lot. They were a day early so parking wasn’t an issue and nobody was waiting for them. This gave the group time to set up and relax a little, even enjoying a relaxing dinner.
One of the advantages of traveling in an RV is that the media has a hard time finding you. They really wanted to do follow up stories on the saving of the children and the events at Dodger Stadium. Since no public announcements were made regarding the services at Qualcomm they were not able to find Will until Saturday just prior to the services, but then the floodgates opened and the media was everywhere.
Bruce knocks on the door of the RV and introduces Pastor Scott Fullow. He is responsible for the gathering at Qualcomm. With him are several other pastors from area churches. As with the LA meeting, the group is to meet privately for dinner and a business meeting starting at 4 pm. This time the media will be present and a short news conference is scheduled for 6 pm. Services are scheduled for 7 pm.
As with the services in LA, the meeting started with Will curing those in attendance of their illnesses. A meal was provided and afterward came the news conference. This was Will’s first official news conference. Following the news conference would be the services, this time, those would be televised as well, not just with the Christian TV station but major broadcast stations in San Diego and the world.
Dinner went off without any major problems or issues on Saturday. As expected the media was interested in the events that happened in LA with the children. Will tried to treat the news conference as a mini-sermon, however, the reporters were not interested and kept shouting questions about how he raised the van, was it some kind of trick, how did he transfer the child from the van to the ambulance, etc. Request for demonstrations of Will’s abilities were shouted for by those in attendance. Will declined, stating that his abilities were not going to be played like some kind of entertainment for the masses. God’s gifts were to be used to save mankind not to entertain mankind. Cries of fraud were heard but few believed them. Will was not happy with how the conference went and shut it down by having the reporters leave the room.
Saturday’s service saw over 70,000 people in attendance, with more waiting in the parking lot to see if they could get in. As with the other services, Will told his story, his message and his mission from God.
In attendance were six priests from the local Catholic parishes. One recorded the message and the others listened. One Father had a very special reason for being there, he had heard that Will would heal those in attendance, he was hopeful that his heart would last long enough to find out.
Toward the end of the service, Will was looking out over the crowd, including the VIP section down in front, he quickly picked up on the Father with a very bad heart condition. He took the microphone in his hand, looking at the Father, he asks for quiet. The stadium went still. Ladies and gentlemen, tonight is a very special night; with us are 6 members of the local Catholic churches. They are here to hear my message from God. Like many of you, one of them is hoping for a personal miracle. One of the gifts God has given me is the ability to understand when a body is ill and what is causing that illness. I would like to have Father Ray up on the stage with me to tell you what has been bothering him for several years. Father, would you be willing to share your story with us?
Father Ray slowly stood and replied, that he would, but his health required a few minutes to climb the stairs.
“Father, let me help you.” Will walks to the edge of the stage, raises his left hand and with the ease used to lift Johnny and fly him across the room, Will raised the Father to the stage. There was a gasp from the people in the stadium as well as from Father Ray.
Father Ray slowly approaches the microphone and over the next few minutes relays his story of a failing heart.
Will takes the Father by the arm and looks into his eyes and says, “Father, by the power that God has given me, you are healed.” and the white glow grows from around Will’s hand.
“Father, I think you will find the stairs no longer a problem. God has answered your private prayer tonight.”
“Ladies and gentlemen, please pray with me. Tell God what illnesses you may have and you will be healed.”
There is a murmur of prayer throughout the stadium. As the people are praying, the stadium glows white. Tears are seen on many by the end of the prayer and then screams of joy can be heard as people begin to realize that the physical pain is gone.
Outside of San Diego at a small regional airport a man was finishing loading his small Cessna 177 with barrels of diesel and gasoline. His plane was at its maximum weight, but this was going to be a short one-way trip. He was going to make it known that God does not exist. He was tired of the bull shit on TV every Sunday with the so-called ministers making millions of dollars a year when they should be in poverty. He was a working man all of his life. When a local church purchased the brewery he worked at and forced the place to close down, he lost his job. Now he was going to lose his house and his wife and kids had to move back with her parents. Even his dog ran away. He had had enough; if God existed, He would have done something to stop this. Well, he was going to make a statement, tomorrow at the height of the service, he would show them what he thought of God.
Sunday morning, Amy and Will visited Pastor Scott’s church. They were greeted at the door very warmly and sat down front like normal. When Pastor Scott saw them, he immediately came over to say good morning. Will asked that they not be singled out as they just wanted to spend the time worshiping the Lord. He agreed and both enjoyed the sermon.
Sunday afternoon, found Will relaxing outside the rig and working on a new sermon. At the same time, a young man was prepping his aircraft for its final flight. A short 30-minute journey would end the financial worries for his wife and children.
Five o’clock, Amy had dinner ready and they all sat down and ate. At around 6 pm, Will heads into the stadium. People are already finding their seats. Another full house is expected.
Unlike Saturday night, the VIP section isn’t as full. Just prior to 7 pm, security contacts Bruce to ask if there is room for several VIP that showed up unannounced. There is plenty of room and 10 Catholic priests take their seats, with them is Bishop Donavan. Will is informed of the recent visitors just as he starts his sermon.
Right at 7 pm, Jeremy pulls the throttles of his Cessna 177 and taxis out to the end of the runway. No other traffic is in the pattern and he begins his takeoff roll. The plane takes almost the full runway to get off the ground. He is airborne and an eerie calm takes over him. Nothing can stop him now.
At 7:30 pm, Will is about halfway through his sermon, he is about to describe his mission from God when Bob notices the plane coming straight at them. He notifies Will and Bruce. Will looks up to see the plane flying straight at him over the lip of the far end of the stadium.
Jeremy’s approach to Qualcomm Stadium is uneventful. As he sees the stadium, he places the Cessna in a shallow dive, his aiming point is the platform at the far end of the field.
Will sees the plane and has no time to react, he raises his hand toward the plane and within a few seconds, the plane is held in midair, no more than 20 yards from the stage and about as high off the ground.
Jeremy cannot believe it, he is simply hanging in midair. This is impossible, the laws of physics say he should have hit the ground and blown the stage to bits, how can he be here like this?
Over 70,000 people see the plane enter the stadium, they watch in awe as the plane comes to a halt in midflight and hang in the air like suspended from an invisible string.
Security is all over the place, several officers are trying to get Will to safety, but Will can’t move. He is the only thing that is preventing the plane from crashing. Finally, Amy, Bruce, and Bob come up on the stage. They realize what has happened, but also don’t know what to do. Finally, Amy says, if we can get him to turn off the engine, Will can lower the plane to the ground and security can rush the plane. Bob runs to find the head of security while Amy and Bruce begin to have the pilot shut off the plane. It takes a few moments for everything to happen, just as the engine dies, security can be seen rushing the field. Will lowers the plane onto the field and security takes Jeremy into custody.
Will finally relaxes and his body shakes from the near-death experience and emotional stress. There is silence until Will stands and approaches the microphone. Amy, Johnny, Bruce, and Bob are standing by his side.
“God is truly great! My mission to save mankind will be completed. The skills that God has given me have been proven to meet whatever the disaster is. I know that many of you are here to see or witness another miracle, the miracle of healing. Tonight, we have a lot to be thankful for. Please, if you are able, stand and pray with me.”
70,000 people stand and pray with Will, not for healing, not for themselves, but for the Second Coming of Christ to be able to save the world from disaster.
Outside the stadium, Jeremy is being led into the back of a patrol car; he turns to see a white glow growing from within the stadium. The glow moves across the parking lot and envelopes him. His mind is at peace and he is willing to face whatever justice has for him.
As Will and friends leave the stage, Bishop Donavan comes from the safety of the tunnels to meet him. As he approaches, he falls to his knees, takes Will’s hand and kisses it. He has witnessed two miracles tonight. He has heard of multiple miracles from his own priests. The man before him is the reason he has been in the ministry for all these years. He has decided that whatever he can do to help, he will, starting with getting the Vatican support, no more sideshows for the Second Coming of Christ.
After a short meeting with Bishop Donavan, Amy and Will return to their RV.
Once in the RV, Amy asks Will, “Hon, what all can you do? It seems every time I turn around you have more capabilities. I am amazed at what you did tonight. You saved so many people and I have never seen anything like that plane just hanging there in midair like that. You didn’t seem fazed a bit nor did you even break into a sweet or anything. How did you do it?”
“Each time I have an attack of the blue haze, I get more capabilities. God said he would provide the tools I would require to save mankind. I am not sure what I am supposed to do or how I will be required to use these capabilities. I can read and change minds, control the body, detect illness and cure it and take life or bring people back to life. Now I can control physical things with just my mind. I can give or teach some of these skills to others as well. What am I supposed to do with all of these capabilities? What am I supposed to save mankind from if it is not to bring them to God?”
Will continues, “To answer your question, I don’t know what all I am capable of. In the past, things happened and I learned a capability because of it. The last time, I was just watching the fire and thought about moving a log and it moved. Tonight, I thought about stopping the plane and it stopped in midair. Is there something else I am capable of doing? I don’t know yet. Does it bother you?”
“NO! It amazes me, I am in awe of you. Just promise me, no more practicing on Johnny.”
Will laughs and says, “I promise. From now on, I will you use as the dummy.”
“WILL SMYTHE, YOU WILL DO NO SUCH THING!”
They both laugh so hard that little Johnny wakes up crying and Amy goes to tend to him.
The next morning the crew packs up and heads toward Houston. They are going to take I-8 to Phoenix Arizona then I-10 to Houston. The 360-mile trip to Phoenix takes them about 7 hours. Although traffic was heavy in the beginning, it thinned out after leaving San Diego. As they arrive in the Phoenix area, Amy is reading up on Phoenix and notices that there is a major Veterans’ Hospital in town. Her family had strong ties with the military and tells Will she would like to visit the hospital while they are in the area. Will agrees as this is a place of healing for those who willingly gave of themselves to help others.
After setting up late on Monday, the band of merry followers relaxes for the evening around a community campfire. Stories are told of the winter’s activities and the plans of fellow campers as they travel around the country. They are camped in the hills outside of Phoenix. The sky is clear and the air is cool as they walk back to the RV. Amy looks to the sky.
“This is so beautiful. Billions of stars must be visible. I wonder how many other planets are out there. When God made us, were we the first, last or somewhere in between? Will we ever meet beings from another planet?”
Bob looks at her and says “I don’t think God experiments. Adam and Eve were perfect and made in his image. If there are others out there, they would have to look like us and have grown the same way we have. Maybe even have the same problems, including killing each other off.”
Bruce says “I like to think that somewhere out there is another planet with people like us wondering the same thing. Someday, we will both meet in space and wonder how many other planets are out there like ours.”
Will looks at the sky and lets his mind wander. Soon he realizes they are not alone.
Tuesday morning, Amy and Will head into town to visit the Veterans’ Administration hospital. As they enter the hospital, a volunteer approaches them to see if they need any help. Amy explains that she would like to visit with some of the veterans and offer prayers and help. The volunteer explains that they don’t really have a place for that unless she knows someone that is here.
They walk around the hospital until they come to the physical therapy section. Will opens the door and they walk inside. No one seems to pay much attention to them. A half a dozen people are working out with aides by their sides, both men, and women with missing limbs and other wounds. Will can sense the mental issues these young people are carrying with them as well as the physical. For the first time, he realizes he cannot completely heal them. He has to help in some way.
He walks up to a young woman who is trying to cope with the pain of missing her left leg. She is learning to walk but between the newness of the prosthetic and devil in her mind that constantly plays back that she is no longer whole, the night she lost her leg and the fact that she may never have any children, she is on the verge of a deep mental breakdown. He looks into her eyes and places his hand on her arm. The aide looks up as he touches her and begins to interrupt as Amy stops her.
Will says, “It will be alright, your demon is gone by the grace of God”, the soft glow fills the young woman. She smiles and says, “I know.”
Will walks to each veteran and repeats the process. No one interferes and within minutes, 6 veterans will have a better life without the pain of the past. They will still have the limitations of the prosthetics, but the mental pain is gone.
Upon leaving the Physical Therapy section, Amy and Will head to the hospital administration section, more needs to be done. As they arrive, Will goes to the receptionist and tells her to get the administrator.
Will tells the hospital administrator to gather the veterans together in the wings. The administrator wants to know who he thinks he is to be demanding such things.
Will says, “I am the Second Coming of Christ and I will heal the minds and bodies these brave men and women. Do as I command.” Arrangements are made to bring those that are able together in small groups within their hospital wings. Will visits each wing and heals the wounds that can be healed.”
News of the activities at the VA Hospital makes the evening news as Amy and Will return to the campground.
While Will and his group are traveling to Houston, Bishop Donavan has returned to his office and places a call to the Vatican. After talking to several underlings, he is finally given permission to talk to the Pope.
“Thank you, your Eminence, for speaking with me.”
“Bishop Donavan, it is always a pleasure to speak with you. What may I do for you?”
“Your Eminence, I have been a witness to multiple miracles from the one we are calling the Second Coming of Christ. He has cured cancer in one of my ministers, he stopped a plane full of explosives from crashing and taking hundreds of lives, he has cured tens of thousands of people; he is responsible for the decrease and elimination of crime across the United States and he has raised a child from the dead. I feel that it is now my duty to follow him and assist him in all ways possible. I also feel that we as a church should be doing the same. Our people need to learn about him and follow him.”
“We too, have been following Will Smythe. He has indeed performed many miracles over the last few years. We have confirmed reports of healing individuals and group healings and even raising people from the dead. Lately, he has shown that he has control of physical objects, the likes that no one has seen before. No one before has so openly demonstrated the ability and openness to use such powers. What do you suggest?”
“This Second Coming of Christ does not NEED our help. We should do what we can to have our people follow him. He has said he is on a mission from God to save mankind. Peace is already spreading around the world. We should be spreading his word and his works. He should be heard by the masses everywhere he stops and talks about God and his mission.”
“How do you propose we do that? He is not a member of the church or a clergyman. We have no control over what he does, where he goes or what he decides to say. It would be impossible to do what you suggest.”
“I will offer my services and those of the church in the US. Whatever he should need, I will do what I can to provide it to him. His word and preaching will be provided to our churches so that we may tell the masses about the Second Coming of Christ. I will ask him to speak to the largest churches as he travels and I will arrange it for him. Do I have your blessing?”
“Yes, we will also have the Bishops of each country do the same. We will take the feed that you get and provide it around the world. You will have the full services and support of the Vatican. Call with your requirements and updates and keep me informed.”
Later that week, Amy takes a phone call from the White House.
“This is the White House Communications Office, we are trying to reach either Will or Amy Smythe.”
“This is Amy, how can I help you?”
“Please hold for the President of the United States.”
Amy sends a telepathic message to Will, Bob, and Bruce to come to the RV immediately, the President is calling.
Just as the guys enter the RV, the President comes on the line. Amy has it on speakerphone.
“Amy, this is the President of the United States. Thank you so much for taking my call. I have been talking with the Ambassador to the United Nations and she tells me that the UN is putting finishing touches on the World Peace Plan. You and Will have done something that no one has ever been able to do, bring peace to the world.”
“Mr. President, we are honored to take your call. The World Peace Plan is just part of the mission that God has given Will. It is by the will of God that we have been able to even begin to bring peace to mankind. But Will’s mission is not done. Peace is but one part of his mission. God has more in store for Will.”
“Well, we would like to invite you and Will to the United Nations when the plan is presented for voting and signing. No date has been set yet for the vote, but I would expect it to be sometime late spring or fall.”
“We would be honored to be there. Once a date is set please let us know. We should be in Orlando, FL soon for the winter.”
“It was a pleasure talking to you and bringing you this news. Someone from my staff will be in touch. Good Day.”
With that, the connection was terminated. Congratulations were passed around. Will took the time to broadcast the news to those in Paradise.
