Chapter 92
Chapter 92
Frederic smirked coldly, “Is that so? How come I didn’t know about your poor health before?”
“Did you ever understand me before?” I suddenly gained confidence and looked at Frederic with a disdainful
expression.
Sure enough, I successfully shifted the topic.
I remembered that bad guy who hit me on the head with a stick and asked, “Did you report the incident where I got beaten up to the police?”
“I reported it, the person who hit you is at the police station,” Frederic opened the lunchbox, inside of which was a delicious–smelling lasagna. “This was made by Kira.”
No wonder it was a familiar taste. I took the lunch box and
started eating the lasagna inside.
As I was eating, Frederic spoke softly, “I fired Kira, she will leave home tomorrow.”
I was shocked and almost dropped the fork, but I remained rational and didn’t turn around, so as not to worsen the injury. I just widened my eyes and asked, “Why?”
“The person who hit you today is called Derick Farrington, he is Kira’s younger uncle, so it is not appropriate for Kira to stay at home anymore,” Frederic explained in a casual tone.
I was shocked to hear him say that. Did Frederic know that Kira was Emilia’s mother?
Since he had investigated Derick, he must have also investigated the situation of Emilia’s family, making it easy to know the relationship between Kira and Emilia.
I had originally planned to keep Kira working at home for a while longer, but I didn’t expect Frederic to dismiss her. Oh well, let it go.
“Oh, I got it,” I said, calming down, and continued eating.
While I was eating, I stole glances at Frederic from the corner of my eye. Did he ever suspect that I actually knew Emilia, since he knew Kira was working as a maid in my house?
Frederic sat on the side, constantly replying to various messages on his phone without stopping. I thought my mom was almost done cooking the chicken, so I said to him, “Thank you for coming to deliver food for me today. You’re so busy, so you should leave first!”
“Okay.” Frederic got up and left gracefully.
I pouted. Since he wanted to leave so badly, why did he bother bringing food?
As soon as Frederic left, my mom arrived. Although I was already almost full, I couldn’t resist the delicious chicken and ended up eating a lot more.
My mother wanted to take care of me here at night, but I refused. I could only not move my head, not my hands and
feet, so I didn’t need anyone to take care of me.
After I repeatedly refused, my mother had to go back and rest. And after the nurse finished her rounds and gave me an injection, I also prepared to have a good sleep.
Just as I was dozing off, my phone rang. Luckily, I was staying in a single patient room, otherwise the jarring ringtone would have disturbed others.
“Hello?” I didn’t look at the caller ID and answered the phone with squinted eyes, lazily asking, “Who is it?”
“Sylvia, it’s me,” Emilia’s voice came through the phone, soft and gentle, with a hint of nervousness. “Are you asleep?”
I immediately became much more awake, and the voice became clearer. “It’s Emilia, I haven’t slept yet, what’s wrong?”
“Sylvia, I heard that my uncle hurt you today and you had to be hospitalized, so I came here on his behalf to apologize to you. I’m sorry,” Emilia said sincerely, and I could tell it was a genuine apology.
I laughed and said, “So that person was your uncle? What a coincidence. I also went there today because of work, and I didn’t expect something like this to happen.”
