Chapter 70
Chapter 70
When I finally managed to recover, Frederic was still staring at me intently.
I waved my hand, asking Kira to leave first.
When there were only Frederic and me left in the restaurant, I calmly replied. “You’re overthinking it. The Hudson Group is so big. If you can give me a 3% stake, it would be enough for me to live a wealthy life for the rest of my life.”
“Is that so?” Frederic merely asked in response, then withdrew his gaze and continued eating.
I remained silent and bowed my head to eat. I felt that saying another word would reveal a flaw.
After finishing my meal, I went to the piano room to play the piano alone.
How far did Frederic pursue Emilia in the past half month? Since the chemical plant project is about to start, it won’t be long before Emilia needs to ask him. right?
Because I was distracted, I played several wrong notes in a row. In the end, I had to stop and calm my mind first.
Fortunately, Frederic went to the company after finishing his meal. When I went downstairs again, there was no trace of him in the house.
I sighed with relief and sank into the soft sofa. Feeling a bit exhausted, I closed my eyes and dozed off. However, my mind was filled with various fragmented images, many of which were comparisons between

the past and the present life.
Unconsciously, I had fallen asleep on the couch. When Kira woke me up to have dinner, it was already late outside.
I felt a bit dizzy in the head and my appetite wasn’t great. I had a few bites of food and was about to go upstairs to continue resting, but Ruben’s phone call woke me up.
“Sylvia, do you have time now? Let’s meet up!” Ruben’s voice sounded different from usual, as if he was suppressing anger and pretending to be calm.
I answered, “Where are you?”
“I was right at the north gate of Maple Villa,” Ruben’s answer surprised me.
I hurriedly changed my shoes and drove to the north gate of Maple Villa. Sure enough, I saw Ruben. He was standing by the roadside, looking around, but he didn’t recognize me because I had changed my
car.
I stopped the car in front of him, rolled down the window, and said, “Ruben, get in the car. Let’s talk about it slowly.”
Ruben’s eyes widened in astonishment as he scanned my car, but there was no envy, rather a sense of discomfort.
He nodded and got in the car. I asked. “What happened?”
Ruben took out his phone and quickly said, “Sylvia, I have paid back -the money Emilia owed you. Thank you.”
I asked in surprise, “How did you know?”
“She told me everything. She took a part–time job at Peak Restaurant a
while ago just to repay your money, but she got fired later,” Ruben said, his head hanging low, sounding somewhat desolate.
“Got fired?” I asked intentionally.
“Not…,” Ruben grabbed a handful of hair in agony, his voice filled with anger. “Sylvia, it’s the man I told you about last time. Emilia promised me she would cut off all ties with him. I didn’t expect them to still be in contact. That man must be very wealthy and influential. Emilia claims she has no way to avoid him, but she refuses to tell me who he is!”
My heart skipped a beat. “How did you find out?”
Ruben replied, “I accidentally came across their information. Unfortunately, I was so angry at that time that I forgot to check his phone number. Otherwise, I would have definitely found out who he is!”
He was such a foolish child. What could he do even if he found out?
Frederic was not someone he could handle at all.
