Chapter 69
Chapter 69
“Wait a moment,” I called out to Kira, “Evie brought me some chicken. Take it and stew it. Put the rest of the things in the fridge.”
“Alright, Mrs. Hudson,” Kira took the chicken from Marcel’s hand and went to deal with it.
I looked at the remaining two chickens and two ducks and felt a bit worried. I had someone tidy up the backyard and set aside a piece of land for these four esteemed guests to raise them. I couldn’t waste Evie’s kindness.
Kira cooked a delicious chicken stew with top–quality matsutake mushrooms. In a pristine bone china bowl, a layer of thin chicken oil floated on top of the golden chicken broth. The perfectly–sized chicken pieces were mixed with white mushroom slices. The rich aroma of the chicken was accompanied by a subtle fragrance of matsutake, making it incredibly tempting.
“Kira, it’s delicious! Your cooking skills must have made your daughter grow up plump and healthy!” I scooped a bowl of chicken soup, blew on it, and took a few sips, sincerely praising.
“My daughter has been a picky eater since she was young. I have put a lot of effort into getting her to eat more. However, she is still thin. Girls love to look beautiful, but they don’t eat much, so they can’t gain weight.” When talking about her daughter, Kira’s eyes are filled with love.
Emilia was indeed thinner, but much better than me.
I smiled and said, “Girls who are a little thinner are more beautiful, and don’t worry about finding a boyfriend.”
Frederic’s figure appeared in the living room. He saw me coming back and seemed a little surprised, then walked over and sat down. “Did you have fun?”
Although I didn’t inform Frederic about my plans, that guy Greta posts a daily update on his social media with location tags. Frederic must have seen it too.
I drank the soup and answered leisurely, “It’s alright, I’m quite happy. I ate well, slept well, and had a good mood every day.”
Frederic emitted a barely audible cold snort. He rolled up his sleeves, revealing his strong and handsome forearms, and then poured himself a bowl of soup. After taking a sip, his brow relaxed slightly.
Lasked softly, “Is it tasty?”
“Yes,” Frederic answered.
I said, “The chicken your mother brought us. It was raised by herself. The taste was indeed very delicious.
Frederic then looked at me, with a hint of confusion in his eyes. “Has my mom arrived?”
I shook my head. “No, I went to your parents‘ place. I stayed there for a few days and just came back today. She packed me a trunk full of chicken, duck, and vegetables. There are a few of them being raised in the garden now.”
Frederic’s expression instantly became more complex, revealing a hint of mockery. “Why did you suddenly think of visiting them?”
“I was bored.” I lowered my head and continued to drink the soup. I couldn’t let Frederic see the thoughts in my mind. In my previous life, I loved him so much that I lost my sanity, considering him as the center of the universe, and ignoring the important people around him.
“Are you doing this in order to be able to turn 5% into 7% or 10% in the future?” Frederic hit the nail on the head.
I was indeed scared quite a bit. The chicken soup went down my windpipe. I started coughing violently. Kira heard the commotion and came back to the restaurant, patting my back for me.
My intention was indeed to hinder Frederic’s pursuit of Emilia. In the future, if he wants to divorce, he will definitely face even stronger opposition from his parents. If he wants me to initiate the divorce or agrees to it, I can take the opportunity to make some demands. He will most likely agree.
However, this goal was not unattainable. Surprisingly, Frederic easily guessed such a casual little goal. This truly made me feel flustered.
