Chapter 68

Chapter 68

Even though Ella felt disgusted, she didn’t resist at all. The kiss lasted so long that she could barely catch her breath. Finally, she pushed Jaden away, gasping for air, her checks flushed…

You What are you doing? Ella was stuttering

Jaden said. “I missed you so much. You haven’t been home for two days and a night.

Do you… Do you have to be so straightforward?” Her face was bright red. “Have you been eating properly?”

Jaden said, “No, I’ve been waiting for you to come home and eat together?

“Okay, let’s go home,” Ella said

She led them back to the car, feeling embarrassed to look at Finn, knowing he had seen everything

Finn clenched his fists, silently watching Jaden. He felt that Jaden’s look was a challenge.

Jaden held Ella’s hand tightly, as if declaring his claim.

“Finn, I’m heading home now” Ella said

She closed the car door and drove away. Finn stood there for a long time until the car was out of sight.

Finn lowered his head, narrowing his eyes. His fists clenched so tightly that his nails dug into his palm, drawing blood.

As the three of them safely returned from the kidnappers, rumers began to spread, suggesting they had been violated. Naturally, these rumors reached Harry, and with Lucy fueling the fire, Harry’s disdain for Grace grew.

Grace felt her position in the family was increasingly precarious. She had to do something or she would be finished

She explained that they had been unable to pay the ransom and were locked in a dark room, with the kidnappers talking about selling their organs. Then, the coast guard arrived and took down the kidnappers.

That evening, she packed her things, put on the yellow floral dress she wore when she first met Harry, let her hair down, and applied makeup. She wrote up a divorce agreement and waited for Harry in the living room

When Harry came home, reeking of alcohol, he frowned deeply at the sight of her

“What are you doing here?” His voice was full of impatience.

Grace said nothing and handed him the divorce agreement,

Grace said, “Take a look. If there are no other problems, please sign it.”

at a divorce?

“What’s this?” Harry took the document and saw that Grace was willing to leave with nothing. “You want a

He was surprised, noticing her outfit resembled what she wore when they first met. Grace had gone to college out of town and returned to the Willow family after graduation.

At that time, he was trying to secure his position in the Rhys family by ingratiating himself with Elb.

Though it wounded his male pride to rely on a woman, he had no choice. Then he met Grace, who greeted him with a gentle smile.

She brought him a cup of coffee when she saw him sitting alone. They had a pleasant conversation, and he felt a rare sense of case talking to her. Perhaps because of her lower status, he didn’t have to feel interior around her. Her admiring looks gave him a sense of pride.

Harry started looking forward to seeing Grace whenever he visited the Willow family. Their relationship developed naturally, and he was genuinely happy when he learned Grace was pregnant with his child. He eagerly anticipated the arrival of their baby.

But somewhere along the way, they drifted apart. Maybe it started when he took over, feeling her status was no longer a match for his

Or perhaps it was the times she was humiliated by Ella, making him feel disgraced. Or Devin’s prolaibition of alivorce, sparking his rebellious streak.

In any case,

he now wanted to sever ties with Grace, seeing her as a hindrance.

Initially. Grace had refused to let go, which only increased his dislike. But now, seeing her in the same attire as when they first met, willingly proposing a divorce, Harry felt conflicted

“Why?” he asked the seemingly absurd question.

Grace lowered her head, her voice trembling slightly as she said, “When you were down and out, you needed someone like me to cheer you up. But now, you’re at the top, and I’m still standing still, I can’t hold you back from a better future. Even if it means a future without me. What does it

matter!

“To love

someone is to wish for their improvement, regardless of how I am. Now, rumors are rampant, even if the police help verify, even if I explain, I can’t compete with the public opinion. I’ve caused you too much trouble, I have no face to stay by your side anymore. Leaving is better. for you. As for Devin, I will handle it myself

“If he’s 100 demanding. I’ll kill myself right in front of him. No one can stop you. You’re promising and have a better awaiting you. Let me do this one last thing for you!”

Her words moved Harry deeply. Memories of Grace’s goodness flooded his mind. She had always been by his side when he was down. She was gentle, sweet, and understanding

She hadn’t changed. It was Harry who had started to despise her. She had always been the one suffering, yet she always thought of him first. Overcome with emotion, Harry hugged her tightly and said. “Don’t talk about leaving. When I was an unknown illegitimate child, you didn’t despise me and stayed with me. How can I let you go now?”

Grace said. “Aren’t you also doubting my innocence! If so, let me go. Let me leave with the last shred of dignity”

“What would I do without you?” Harry, drunk and touched by her resemblance to her younger self, lost his resolve. The soft lighting and her innocent look brought back old feelings.

He didn’t waste any words and pulled her into bed. The divorce agreement was tossed into the trash.

Ella thought Grace and Harry would surely break up this time. But a few days later, she saw them closer than ever. Harry publicly displayed his affection, expressing trust in his wife and the police’s findings.

Ella’s previous legal actions against the rumors only strengthened his resolve that nothing had happened to them.

Ella was puzzled, wondering what magic Grace had used to win Harry over again. But she didn’t dwell on it much, as the board huid secured the overseas partnership, allowing the Willow family to expand abroad, signifying another step up for the company.

Most of the credit went to Finn. Innially reluctant, the overseas partner agreed after Finn’s business trip. But then, she received an anonymous letter, wanting that Finn was not as simple as he seemed
