Chapter 859
Murder? What murder?
"Where's Connor?" Henrik couldn't shake the feeling of unease, like something big was about to unfold. "Flora just said he was asleep when she left."
Henrik, feeling a growing sense of urgency, made his way upstairs and pushed open the bedroom door. "Connor?"
There was a noticeable lump under the covers. Seeing Connor seemingly fast asleep, Henrik gave him a gentle nudge. "Wake up, Connor." But Connor didn't stir.
There's no way Connor would sleep so deeply. Remembering how adept Flora was with her potions and thinking back to her strange behavior earlier, Henrik quickly commanded, "Get a doctor here now, and someone find Flora, fast!"
...
Outside the villa, Flora was dressed head-to-toe in leather, exuding an aura that left Moss and Beck speechless.
"Ms. Flora, what's going on...?"
It was like she was ready to take on the world.
"Hand over the car keys."
"What?"
"I said, give me the car keys."
Moss and Beck could feel the impatience in Flora's voice, which only heightened their anxiety. This seemed serious.
"Ms. Flora, did you and the boss have a spat?" Beck asked carefully. "Sometimes he can be a bit clueless. If he upset you, you should confront him! Don't just stew in your anger."
Their boss could handle a scolding, and oddly enough, he'd probably enjoy it if it came from Ms. Flora.
"For the last time, the car keys." Flora was barely containing her frustration.
Beck flinched, quickly handing her the keys. Ms. Flora's anger was no joke!
With the keys in hand, Flora floored the gas pedal and sped off before Moss and Beck could react. She just... took off!
"Why'd you give her the keys?" Moss was panicking, clearly a lovers' tiff. Flora driving off like that what if something happened?
"Did you see how she was? If I didn't hand them over, she might've killed me! I didn't expect her to just drive away..." Beck was at a loss.
Right then, Kruz rushed out, looking frantic. "Did you see my sister-in-law? Where's she gone?"
"Ms. Flora just drove off..."
...
The stretch limo raced down the main road, weaving through traffic like there was no tomorrow.
"Hey, stop! Stop!"
A cop on the roadside waved for the car to halt, but the driver didn't slow, instead flooring it and leaving the officer in a cloud of exhaust. He was furious! "Stop that car!"
This was just reckless!
A young woman driving like a maniac!
"Are you nuts? Do you even know whose car that is?" His partner yanked him back. "She's not someone we want to mess with!"
"I don't care who she is! Speeding down the main road isn't right! I'm going to catch her! Don't hold me back!" The cop's sense of duty was unwavering.
He'd seen plenty of influential people before; he wasn't about to be intimidated now.
"Fine, I won't stop you. Go ahead. But maybe you didn't know that's Mr. Hawke's car..."
"Oh, just Mr. Hawke... wait, wait! Mr. Hawke!"
The cop almost fell over in shock.
On Lone Island, there was only one Mr. Hawke.
Holy smokes, he'd just tried to stop Mr. Hawke's car; he might as well have signed his own death warrant!
"Go on, stop it, give Mr. Hawke a ticket."
As he said this, he watched his colleague pull out his radio, surprised by his unwavering sense of justice, even knowing it was Mr. Hawke's car.
Watching him, the cop was on the radio, urgently calling out, "Attention all units! Attention all units! A vehicle with plate E0921 is heading toward Cherry Gardens! Do not intercept! Repeat, do not intercept! Clear the roads for this vehicle, all vehicles!"
