Chapter 858
Crimson is tight with Ms. Flora! No way they'd mess with her!
"Uh... boss... is Ms. Flora there with you? Maybe you should let her take the call..." Moss said, feeling like he was walking on thin ice. He could sense Connor's anger blazing through the phone, nearly setting him on fire. That only made him more nervous. Ever since Ms. Flora and the boss got together, Connor hardly ever blew his top. Now, could it be they had a tiff, and he was making Moss go after Ms. Flora's best friend...
"What, are my words not enough?" Connor's anger only grew.
It's not that they aren't.
I'm just worried you'll regret it!
Moss felt like crying but couldn't shed a tear; he was terrified they'd had a spat, and Connor might have gone too far. What if he couldn't make it up to Flora later!
In the end, it was Flora who stepped in and saved the day.
She took the phone from Connor's hand. "Ignore what your boss said, just pretend you didn't hear it."
"Sure, sure!" Moss quickly hung up the phone!
"Did you talk?" Connor looked at Flora, his face tense. If she still wouldn't talk, he wouldn't hold back!
But Flora wrapped her arms around his waist, burying her face in his chest. "Connor..."
Her voice was a bit choked.
"I'm not happy."
She felt like she lost her family.
Flora couldn't put her feelings into words. She'd lived all these years only to find out that Raul and Henrik weren't her real brothers. It was absurd...
Plus, her real parents had been killed by Adrian's dad.
"I want some sweet osmanthus cookies."
Maybe something sweet would lift her spirits a bit.
"Okay."
Connor peeled a sweet osmanthus cookie and fed it to her. If she was talking, that was already progress. He needed to comfort her first; everything else could wait. Flora munched on the cookie, but her mood stayed low.
"Connor, stay with me until I fall asleep."
"Sure."
He stayed with her until she dozed off.
As they lay in bed, he caught a whiff of a pleasant scent from her.
His plan was to help Flora fall asleep and then figure out what was really going on, but the moment he hit the bed, he felt his eyelids getting heavy.
He suddenly recalled the scent on her, but it was too late.
Before he drifted off, the last thing he saw was Flora's dark, bright eyes.
"Connor, get some rest. I have some things to handle." Flora tucked him in, changed into something more practical, and then opened the bottom drawer of the wardrobe. Inside, lay a handgun.
...
"Whoa, Flora, you're looking fierce! Where are you headed? I'll tag along!" Kruz had just finished some takeout and was lounging around the living room when he saw Flora coming downstairs in a leather jacket and pants. "Killing someone, wanna join?" Flora shot him a glance, her face unreadable.
"I'm in! Who's the target, Flora? Just say the word, I'll back you up!" Kruz thought Flora was joking and didn't take her seriously.
Flora couldn't be bothered with this goofball. "I'm heading out for a bit. Your brother's asleep, don't wake him up."
With that, she strode out of the villa.
"Was that Flora just now?" Henrik walked over; he'd been on the phone on the balcony and hadn't really noticed what was going on.
Why did Flora leave dressed like that?
"Yeah, that was Flora!" Kruz scratched his head, puzzled. "What's going on with Flora, looking all intense like she's on a mission, even said she was gonna kill someone!" "What?" Henrik's expression shifted slightly.
