Chapter 20
Chapter 20
“No, just suddenly felt a bit uncomfortable in my eyes, but it’s better now.”
William was about to address James as “Mr. Howe, but James quickly intervened, saying, “Mr. Hartman, our boss sent me to resolve the issue with your hospital’s medical equipment. Let’s go to your office right away.”
Before William could finish speaking, James pushed him toward the exit.
Seeing James‘ reaction, William instantly understood.
“Oh, yes, let’s go to my oflice and talk.” William responded.
It seemed that James did not want to reveal his identity in front of everyone. James was William’s hospital’s major benefactor, and he could not afford to offend him.
William narrowly escaped a potential disaster. He almost blew James’s cover.
A faint bead of sweat appeared on William’s forehead. The Howe Group not only donated medical equipment to his hospital but also funded the construction of two hospital buildings.
The CEO of Howe Group was no ordinary person. William only learned about his true identity by chance.
The outside world knew Howe Group had a formidable CEO who, within half a year of taking office, elevated the company to new heights, making it one of Kingsley’s top family businesses.
Nadia watched James leave the ward and said, “Oh, then go ahead.”
She had thought he came specifically to see Iris, but apparently, he was just passing by. However, James did help her out significantly, preventing her from being completely embarrassed in front of Rebecca and Jim..
Inside William’s office, James sat on the couch, sipping the coffee William handed him. William hurriedly closed and locked the office door, standing respectfully and trying to appease him. “Mr. Howe, I’m truly sorry. I had no idea about your…”
“Enough with the formality. From now on, you don’t have to be so polite when talking to me. Just call me James, and stop calling me Mr. Howe. I don’t want them to know my identity.”
“Understood. Mr. Howe…”
James frowned. He could not understand what was wrong with William. He had already told him not to call him that way. yet he persisted.
Just as William addressed him as Mr. Howe again, James looked at him with a furrowed brow. It finally dawned on William, and he quickly corrected himself, saying, “James…”
James took another sip of coffee and looked up at William, speaking in a low voice.
“Arrange a new room for Iris Lewis, a private one where no one is allowed to approach.”
Though he did not think Rebecca and Jim were capable of doing anything extreme, considering that they used Iris to threaten Nadia earlier, James wanted to take precautions and make sure everything was properly arranged to avoid any
unforeseen incidents.
William took out a handkerchief from his pocket and kept wiping the sweat off his forehead.
“Alright, I’ll arrange it right away,” he said.
He had just observed James, Nadia, and Iris in the ward. They seemed very close, William thought that if he provided good service to Iris, his hospital might receive more benefits than just the two hospital buildings.
After speaking, James got up and left the hospital with his assistant.
Inside the ward. Nadia gave Iris a full–body massage and adjusted her pillow to make her more comfortable.
At that monient, Elena, with her son Ray, arrived at the hospital with a box of sandwiches.
Elena had been kicked by Nathan earlier in the morning, and she accidentally hit a coffee table, resulting in a lingering pain
in her chest.
Ignoring the discomfort, she brought Ray to the hospital ward, where she saw her sister.
“Nadia, I already told you that I’ll take care of Grandma. You should focus on your work.” Elena expressed her concern.
Nadia had contributed financially, so Elena believed she should put in some effort and take care of Iris.
“It’s alright, sis. Clare is looking after the shop. You have Ray to take care of, and I have more time. Let me look after Grandina,” Nadia replied.
She understood that Elena had to take care of the household, look after Ray, and cook for Nathan.
Nadia was worried about Elena, especially because of the way Nathan had treated her at the hospital in front of so many

people. She knew that Nathan’s behavior toward Elena at home was probably even worse. Given Nathan’s temper, there was a chance that he would verbally abuse Elena again once she got home.
She did not want Elena and Nathan to have further conflicts because of Iris’s situation.
Nadia took the box of sandwiches from Elena and placed it on the bedside table. She then squatted down and picked up Ray.
“Ray, did you miss me?” she asked.
“Yes, I did.” Ray replied in his childish voice.
Being only two years old, he was not very articulate yet.
Iris looked at Ray, and a smile appeared on her face. “Ray, come to Grandma.”
Ray noticed the intravenous needle on Iris’s hand and pointed at it, saying, “Grandma, it hurts…”
“It’s okay, Ray. Grandma is not in pain.” Iris reassured, feeling touched by Ray’s concern.
He was such a caring little boy.
Just then, two doctors and a group of nurses entered the room without a word and began pushing the bed out.
Nadia was startled by this abrupt action. She quickly put Ray down and stepped forward to stop them.
“What are you doing? Where are you taking my grandma?”
Kadin arrived at that moment.
“Nadia, someone arranged a new room for you upstairs. It’s a private room with better amenities,” Kadin explained.
Nadia looked puzzled. “We didn’t ask for a room change.”
A private room with better amenities would undoubtedly come at a higher price.
Iris felt uneasy upon hearing about the room change.
“I won’t change rooms. Dr. White, please help me with the discharge. I’m feeling much better now.”
Iris did not want to spend Nadia’s money. Staying in the hospital was expensive. She could not imagine how much it would cost per day.
Suddenly, a voice came from the entrance. “Mrs. Lewis, just relax and go to the new room. Your grandson–in–law provided the hospital with some technical assistance, and it was a big help for us. They’ve arranged the room change for you free of charge.”
All eyes turned toward the source of the voice, and they found William standing there.
Nadia was surprised by James’s influence. She had never thought that he could secure a free room change for them.
“But, after all, James is in the field of technology. Maybe he indeed helped the hospital solve a major technical challenge,” Nadia thought.
“Since Mr. Hartman said that, let’s go then,” Nadia said.
“Are you sure we don’t need to pay separately?” Iris asked again, still finding it hard to believe.
“No need. Mrs. Lewis, just relax and go to the room,” William reassured her.
The medical staff then wheeled the bed toward the elevator.
Kadin tightened his grip on the medical records book. He realized that it was Nadia’s husband who arranged the room change. In fact, he could have done it himself.
As they entered the new room, Nadia was astonished by what she saw.
The room looked nothing like a typical hospital ward.
It had a spacious living room with a TV, a sofa, and a coffee table. Even the sofa was made of genuine leather. On top of that, there was a large balcony outside the living room.
The room also had a small kitchen with all the necessary utensils. It was designed like a one–bedroom apartment with a living room, kitchen, and bathroom. The living room was about 753 square feet, and the bedroom was at least 430 square feet.
The whole room was decorated like a five–star hotel’s presidential suite. It seemed the hospital was willing to spare no expense. Nadia thought that James must have solved a significant problem for them.
Elena carried Ray and followed Nadia into the room. Ray, seeing such a beautiful place, struggled to get out of Elena’s arms. This sudden movement caused Elena to feel severe pain in her chest. Her face twisted in pain, and she had to squat down, holding her chest.
Nadia turned around and saw Elena’s distressed expression. She was taken aback and hastened to ask, “Sis, are you alright?”
