Chapter 19
Chapter 19
Before this, Daisy had asked Harold to investigate some things about Nadia. He had already thoroughly investigated Jim and. Rebecca. There was no need for him to investigate further. Harold simply pulled out Rebecca’s information and sent it to James.
Just then, the elevator doors opened, and James stepped out.
Although Nadia was only his wife in name, he still thought that no outsider had the right to bully her. Bullying his wife was the same as bullying him, and he would not forgive anyone who dared to bully him.
Seeing James approaching, Harold quickly went to greet him. “Mr. Howe…”
James raised his right hand, signaling Harold not to follow him. He did not want Nadia to find out that he had brought his assistant along.
Harold had no choice but to stand in the corner and silently watch James’s back. He knew there would be some good drama
SOON
James, however, felt annoyed. He was almost considering firing Harold since all he cared about as an assistant was digging up gossip about him.
James then walked confidently toward Nadia, his newly wedded wife. When he reached her, he gently placed his hand on her shoulder and said in a magnetic and tender voice, “Darling, you come to the hospital to see your grandmother, and you didn’t even call me.”
Hearing his voice, Nadia quickly wiped away the tears from her face and looked up at James. She was surprised. She thought James had gone to work and did not expect him to be there.
Jim and Rebecca were dumbfounded to see James addressing Nadia as his wife in such an affectionate manner. Their mouths hung open in shock.
Seeing James, Rebecca was especially struck dumb. James stood tall at six feet one inch, with amber–colored eyes, a prominent nose, thin lips, perfectly groomed hair, and an incredibly handsome and charming appearance. Wearing a well–tailored suit that showcased his impeccable physique, he was the epitome of the perfect male idol that all women would
admire.
After years in the entertainment industry, she had never seen a man this handsome. James was even more attractive than the current hottest male celebrities in the entertainment industry. Compared to James, Jim seemed like an ordinary guy from the streets
Rebecca felt like swooning and wanted to immediately pounce on him, making him her man.
Her mouth was practically drooling with desire. She almost could not hold herself back from leaping at him. Jim noticed all of this and thought Rebecca was embarrassing herself. He quickly nudged her with his hand, bringing her back to her
senses.
Only then did Rebecca regain her composure, but she could not help but wonder what James had just called Nadia,
She could not believe James actually called Nadia his wife. She could not comprehend the current situation. Nadia had just broken up with Jim, and Rebecca could not fathom how Nadia had become James’s wife so quickly. It seemed impossible, and she refused to believe such a possibility.
She thought she must have misheard something. In a daze, she unconsciously extended her hand and tried to shake hands with James in a sweet and coquettish manner. “Hello handsome, I’m Rebecca Flores. Nice to meet you.”
To her surprise, James embraced Nadia’s shoulder as if he did not notice Rebecca. He asked in a gentle, magnetic voice, “Honey, do you know them?”
Jim, in disbelief, interrogated Nadia in a stern voice. “Nadia, what’s going on? When did you two get together? How come you are his wife; You’d been hooking up with him when we were together, hadn’t you? You were questioning me just now, but it seems you’re a cheater too.”
Jim could not believe that it had been just a few days, and now Nadia was someone else’s wife.
Nadia found Jim’s reaction laughable. Jim had always been unfaithful to her, and now he assumed Nadia had cheated on him first and got married before him. Jim’s shamelessness exceeded Nadia’s imagination.
“Whether I got married or not is none of your business. You owe me 40 thousand dollars, and you better pay it back within two months. Don’t even think about using my grandmother to threaten me.”
Nadia was not intimidated. It was a lawful society now, and she knew they would not dare do anything.
Hearing Nadia’s words, James turned his eagle–like gaze toward Jim and asked with a low, cold voice, “You owe my wife 40,000 dollars? You have two months to pay it back or face the consequences.”
After saying that, James held Nadia and walked toward Iris’s hospital room.
Jim was shocked by James’s aura. He felt that there was no way he could get away with not repaying the 40 thousand dollars

now.
Rebecca finally realized the truth. Nadia had indeed gotten married. And she married a handsome man who seemed to be very wealthy.
Rebecca had been in the entertainment industry for so long that she knew high–end suits well, recognizing the luxurious look. The suit James was wearing looked luxurious and was definitely worth over 20 thousand dollars.
She glared hatefully at Nadia’s back. She could not believe that Nadia was so lucky.
The man she had schemed so hard to win ended up being someone that Nadia did not want.
She glanced at Jim standing nearby and viciously grabbed her bag, throwing it at him. “Why are you still here? Do you want to spend Christmas here?”
Jim was still dwelling on the image of Nadia being embraced by James.
He had been with her for so many years, yet he had not even kissed her. Now she had become someone else’s wife, and he could not accept it.
Nadia, despite not wearing much makeup, had a figure, an aura, and a scent of jasmine that Jim could not forget.
He felt regretful for not being more assertive carlier. If he had made a move, he would have tasted the sweetness of Nadia long ago, and he would not be in this situation where the woman he had been with for years was taken by someone else.
Watching Rebecca’s back, he felt she had acted like a lovesick fool, unable to take her eyes off James as if her eyes were glued to him.
Jim glanced back in the direction of the ward and finally decided to leave with Rebecca.
Meanwhile, James embraced Nadia as they walked into the ward. With a hint of a sinile in his eyes, he sat down by the bedside and said, “Grandma. I’ve come to see you. How are you feeling today?”
Seeing James and Nadia being so close made Iris extremely happy. She was sure that James was Nadia’s true husband, and the one before was just a namesake.
“I’m doing fine. You both are busy, and you don’t need to come to see little old me every day,” Iris said, not wanting to inconvenience James and Nadia.
Nadia saw Iris lying on the bed, and she knew she had to be uncomfortable.
*Grandma, let me raise the bed for you and massage your legs. It will make you feel more comfortable.”
As Nadia was about to squat down to adjust the bed, James quickly stood up and walked to the end of the bed, saying in a deep voice, “I’ll do it. You go and put another pillow under Grandma’s pillow to make it higher, so Grandma can lean back on the pillow comfortably.”
Nadia did not argue with him and let him handle it.
Nadia walked to the bedside, helped Iris sit up, and then gently uncovered the blanket to give her a gentle massage on her calves.
Seeing James being so gentle and considerate, Iris felt delighted for Nadia.
Even if she died now, she had no regrets, although she wanted to see her great–grandchildren.
Just then, seven or eight doctors and nurses wearing white coats walked into the room.
Leading them was a man in his 50s, with a beaming smile. He approached James and shook his hand. This man was William Hartman, the hospital director.
“Mr. Howe, welcome to our hospital. Why didn’t you let us know in advance? We should have given you a warmer welcome. And thank you for the medical equipment donation last time. We’re truly grateful.”
Seeing the situation, James quickly stood up and tried to push William out of the room, signaling him with his eyes.
She could not understand why William was being so respectful to James and the meaning of the so–called “medical equipment donation.”
Nadia was about to look up and ask James when she noticed he had been winking and making gestures. Concerned, she asked, “What’s wrong with your eyes? Are they uncomfortable?”
