Chapter 12
Chapter 12: Like a
Fierce Beast
Focused on Its
Desired Prey
“It’s just… we haven’t exchanged numbers,” Grayson pulled out his phone, unlocked it, and handed it to Lexie, saying, “So, you can call me when
you have time to hang out
with my grandma.”
Lexie looked at the man’s
serious expression, a hint of
a playful smile appearing on
her l*ps. “Since I promised
Elizabeth, I won’t go back on
my word.”
“Of course, I know you won’t
go back on your word,” Grayson said. “I appreciate that you take the time to accompany her. I am truly grateful, and I’ll do my best
to play the role of a good driver for you, Ms. Baily.”
He thanked Lexie and made
it clear why he wanted her
contact info. But what really got to Lexie was how much he trusted her-it just
warmed her heart.
She hesitated for a moment,
took the phone, and entered
her number.
“Let’s also connect on
WhatsApp, Facebook, and
Instagram.” Grayson said the
next moment.
Lexie, “…
She could tell this guy had some other agenda, but Grayson’s cool vibe didn’t
scream secret motives.
She sighed lightly and
compromised.
Grayson made a call, heard her phone ring, and then
hung up. “This is my phone
number. Please save it, Ms.
Baily.”
Under Grayson’s gaze, Lexie
saved the number. “Mr.
Hopkins, is there anything
else?”
She couldn’t figure out the
man’s intentions, but she could sense a subtle attempt from him. Her gut feeling told her that it might be
better to keep some distance
from this man.
As clever as Grayson was, he
couldn’t miss the deliberate
distance in her words. .
“My intentions, Ms. Baily, haven’t you already guessed
a bit?” Grayson stared at her, his dark eyes shimmering with a mysterious glow. “Grandma said that pursuing a woman requires 100% sincerity, learning to humble oneself, being proactive,
considerate, and, most
importantly, being
committed. The rest will be
revealed in due course, but
Ms. Baily, have you not
sensed my proactiveness already?”
Upon hearing his words,
Lexie’s brow twitched.
She didn’t expect Grayson to be so straightforward. It
made her feel a bit at a loss.
“Mr. Hopkins, I don’t get it.” Lexie’s eyes subtly dodged,
determined to act as if she
didn’t understand.
Right now, she wasn’t planning on dealing with the
guy in front of her, and she
definitely wasn’t up for
jumping into a new
relationship.
Moreover, she and Grayson
had only just met.
“Ms. Baily, you should easily .
notice my grandma’s fondness for you,” Grayson
stared at her without
blinking, his eyes carrying a
deep and meaningful glint.
“The most crucial thing is that I appreciate you.”
His words were
straightforward, leaving no
room for Lexie to feign
ignorance.
Lexie’s heart did a little flip
when their eyes met
unexpectedly.
Avoiding eye contact, she
blurted out, “I hope you
don’t mind me being..
upfront, Mr. Hopkins, but your decision feels a bit sudden. We barely know
each other, and I’m not
looking to jump into a new relationship at the moment.”
She didn’t know enough
about the man in front of
her, but most men were proud and self-assured.
Faced with a direct rejection,
many would feel
embarrassed and leave
disappointed.
“To know more, we have to .
fixed on Lexie, and his deep
black eyes concealed a subtle sharpness, like a fierce beast
focused on its desired prey.
