Death's Saviour

Chapter Chapter Thirty-Two: Crane

Author's Song of the Chapter: Save Myself by Ed Sheeran

We pull into the parking lot at school and I cut the engine in my jeep. The lot is getting busy, but I can sense that Danny is somewhere. I don’t know how I know but I just do. We climb out of the jeep and the boy beside Tucker, my informant, smells as he shakes dripping sweat down his forehead. My father made me bring him, include him since he proved his worth by giving us important information. Personally, I don’t think he is stable enough to be here, but he did give us a solid lead on who the Hellhound is. I watch the guy shake violently and I frown as again I wonder if he will survive the bite, it is odd that it is taking his body so long to accept the Wolf. Then again, some people just aren’t made for this life.

“Danny is with him, as well as a group of humans!” Caroline says to me, I whip around to watch a group of people moving through the parking lot.

They move like they own the place and that infuriates me. I spot Danny walking hand in hand with Cassie as they walk behind the boy. That boy is the Hellhound. The notion makes my lip curl up into a sneer. If the Hellhound thinks he has won with the help of his human followers than he is mistaken. We move until we are walking up towards them.

“I see you’ve got humans surrounding you both now. Sorry for your lose in status, humans are so weak. Soft little things!” Caroline taunts at Danny as she pushes one of the girls standing near him, she falls to the side like a rag doll.

“Leave me alone Crane, it’s in your best interest.” Danny stands tall in my face as he speaks, my blood boils.

“This isn’t over Danny; your humans can’t protect you!” I snap in his face before I turn on my heels heading for the school.

I stop midstep when my eyes catch something in the bushes. I pause momentarily and stare at the black Wolf with green eyes looking directly at me, the Wolf from my nightmares. I blink and it’s gone. Shaking my head, I continue towards the school my mind a furrowed mess because now I’m hallucinating Dusk. Caroline follows quickly behind me; the boy falls into our shadow as he sweats. The only one who doesn’t fall in line is Tucker, he hangs back causing me to falter in my steps once again. When we turn back to look at Tucker he catches up with us though his nostrils are flared, we continue on.

“What was that about Tucker?” Caroline growls as she steps into Tucker’s side trying to be threatening, trying to be an alpha female.

“Danny has been my best friend growing up, he is family. I just wanted to see if he was okay.” Tucker tells us in a small voice that makes me stop dead halting out progress.

“You wanted to make sure Danny is okay by his side? The Hellhound’s side, the one who murders us?” I spit the question out calling attention to us as my voice raises.

“I’m glad he’s not dead okay Crane.” Tucker snaps at me before continuing up the stairs into the school.

I’m at a loss for words, I never in my life expected I would have to worry about Tucker and his intentions. Tucker was always just the big beef head of the group, I watch him as he heads into the school. Now I don’t know what’s going on through that thick head of his and that makes me nervous.
