Dear Arthur Please Love Me Again by Arthur Clark

Chapter 15

Chapter 15

No matter how many times Edward asked, my answer remained the same. My father was innocent. It was Travis who took the money.

It wasn’t until after my death that Edward began to suspect Amanda again.

He confronted Amanda.

The records of Edward’s two interactions with Amanda were now in front of Arthur,

written on paper.

Amanda, a suspect in the case, was taken into police custody.

She clung to Arthur’s hand tightly.

“Arthur, I really don’t know anything. Why are you arresting me?” Uncharacteristically, Arthur did not comfort her as he usually would. “Do you really know anything?”

Edward’s last words still haunted him.

Amanda’s mouth remained a firm line. Her lips sealed shut.

She always insisted she knew nothing.

Yet, Arthur wouldn’t release her.

Time passed, and without evidence, Amanda was eventually released.

Pale and unsteady, Amanda nearly collapsed as she walked out.

Arthur watched coldly from the side.

“Amanda, are you sure my wife’s death has nothing to do with you?”

It was unclear which of Arthur’s words struck Amanda’s nerves.

Despite her frail demeanor, her words carried a hint of scorn.

“When she died, you said to make sure she died far away, so she wouldn’t pollute your eyes.”

Arthur’s face turned ashen, his lips trembled painfully, and his eyelashes fluttered like trembling butterflies.

After Amanda left, he slowly squatted down against the wall, weeping in agony. Watching the tears fall heavily from Arthur’s eyes, I could hardly believe it.

Arthur, was he crying because of me?

No, that couldn’t be.

How could he cry over my tears?

After all, just before I died, when I called him, he had said himself,

“Get lost, stop playing games! Don’t tell me you’re dying this time. If you must die, die

far away! Don’t pollute my eyes!”

Without pausing, Amanda bought a ticket abroad.

Arthur and his team caught her at the airport.

In the interrogation room, Amanda was visibly agitated.

“Why are you arresting me?

“Arthur, I know you’re out there. Speak up! Didn’t you say you’d take care of me for life?

Is this how you take care of me?”

I looked down at Arthur.

His eyes were filled with frost and hatred.

Was it directed at Amanda

He used to like Amanda so much. How could he show such a look towards her?

Or was there someone else behind my death?
