Chapter Brothers
Syl sat motionless as he looked out across the woods that sat outside the chambers, he was snapped out of his daze when he heard someone knocking on the door.
"Who's there?" Syl grumbled as he turned to look at the door.
"It's Elyss... I'm coming in" Elyss announced, as she opened the door. As she walked in, she heard the crunch of broken glass beneath her feet. "Syl..." She sighed.
"Don't 'Syl' me" Syl grunted as he looked back out of the window.
"Why are you acting like this? Shouldn't you be with your sister right now?" Elyss asked, as she gathered the shards of glass.
"My sister died years ago" Syl shrugged.
"Don't say that..." Elyss finished picking up the shards and put them in a bin nearby.
"It's true. I've never known the real Roisin, not really" Syl continued.
"The Roisin that you know IS the real one" Elyss shook her head.
"She's just a copy" Syl shrugged.
"Then what am I?" Elyss slammed her fist against the wall. "Am I just a copy, not the real me?" She asked.
"I watched you die, Elyss, do you know what that is like? To watch someone you love dies, then someone arrives, claiming to be that same person... but you can never really be sure if they are?" Syl yelled as he stood.
"You know, that's true for me" Elyss shrugged, hiding her sadness. "But this version of Roisin is the version that you've lived with since you were kids... deal with it" Elyss walked out, slamming the door loudly behind her.
"Gods dammit!" Syl yelled as he punched the wall, he sat against the wall and sighed as he watched the clouds passing by outside. Until his door thudded with three angry knocks.
"Syl, open up..." Keegan's voice echoed through the crack beneath the door.
"Go away" Syl grumbled.
"Open the door, or I'll kick this damn door down" Keegan threatened as he thudded his fist against the door again. Syl sighed, as he stood up and approached the door, and undid the latch.
The moment he unlocked the door, Keegan burst into the room, and slammed the door behind him.
"Your friend, Elyss, told me everything... what you said" Keegan sighed as he paced around the room.
"I didn't lie..." Syl shrugged, Keegan gave Syl an angry stare.
"Roisin is Roisin. Elyss is Elyss. Get it together..." Keegan seethed with anger. Syl shrugged, as he walked over to the window.
"Roisin is dead" Syl shrugged, within moments he found himself pulled to the floor, with Keegan about to punch him.
"Stop saying that and go see her you god damned coward" Keegan roared.
"Why don't you?" Syl rolled his eyes.
"I love Roisin, she is my sister, but I've only known her a short time. She needs family, she needs you" Keegan said, as he relented.
"What about Atlas then?" Syl frowned.
"He ran off last night apparently" Keegan shrugged. Syl frowned as he stood up, and sighed deeply.
"So she has no one right now..." Syl looked out of the window.
"I imagine Ruby is with her, but she needs you" Keegan said, as he put his hand on Syl's shoulder. "She needs her big brother" He smiled. Syl sighed and nodded.
"I... I didn't mean what I said, you know?" Syl admitted. "About Roisin, or Elyss..." He added.
"I know" Keegan nodded as he hugged Syl, who was taken by surprise, but hugged Keegan back. "I'm sure Elyss knows too, but I'll go find her and let her know, while you talk with Ros" He smiled. Syl nodded and headed for the door, before stopping and looking back.
"Keegan..." Syl looked Keegan in the eye.
"What is it?" Keegan asked.
"Thank you... for talking some sense into me" Syl smiled.
"We're brothers, I'll always have your back, and be there to beat some sense into you, when required" Keegan smirked.
"Same... except I don't think I can take you" Syl joked, as he left. Keegan chuckled to himself, before starting to clean Syl's room.
