Chapter 254
Chapter 254 Losing It
It was late at night when Bella finally returned to Miller Moor.
As soon as she stepped through the door, she noticed that the lights in his room were off, which meant he hadn't come home because he always left a bedside lamp on when he slege. She didn't think much of it, but a sullen thought hit her. Things had been easier when she had a crush on him, but now that they were together, it felt exhausting
Betore, when he wasn't hers, she didn't have to worry or get upset. Now, she couldn't help but feel small. So, what was the point of being together?
After a restless night, Bella was late for work the next day. As she rushed to park her car in the garage, she ran into lan, who was also late.
lan smiled at her. "Blame Dominic. He dragged me out for drinks last night, and I almost couldn't get up this morning. Why are you late too? Fighting with him never feels good, huh?" Hearing that Dominic was with lan the night before gave Bella a strange sense of relief. "It's just too cold, so I overslept. Let's go."
tan joined her in the elevator. "With how cold you seem, anyone would think you don't even like Dominic. To like someone for so many years, those teelings must be deeply ingrained by now, right? Honestly, it's impressive that you're able to stay calm and not act all dramatic."
Bella was silent for a moment before replying, "What's the point of acting dramatic? If that actually worked, people could solve everything with a tantrums or some drama."
Lan was speechless. He was afraid that she'd lash out at him, so he wisely said nothing more.
In the morning, Bella only had one minor surgery to perform. It was something simple for her. By the time she finished, it was barely 11:00 am. With no work lett on her plate, her mind wandered. She kept thinking of Dominic, which disturbed her peace. Absent-mindedly, she checked her phone. There was a message from Dominic, "I'll pick you up for lunch. We need to talk."
Almost instinctively, she found herself looking at her reflection on the phone screen, fixing her appearance. Then, she felt a bit sad.
Why was she always the one being so cautious?
Both of them were thinking the opposite. What kind of future could that lead to?
She didn't reply to his message. After work, she simply headed downstairs, still wearing her white coat.
Sure enough, Dominic's car was parked at the hospital entrance. She had no idea how long he had been waiting, but she didn't bother to ask.
As she got into the car, she brushed a few wind-tossed strands of hair behind her ear and avoided looking at him. She asked coldly, "What do you want to talk about?
Dominic glanced at her work ID and her white coat, remaining silent for a long time.
At that moment, she gave him a strange feeling. She wasn't the same woman who used to tiptoe around him but rather a calm and collected doctor who would remain composed even under the pressure of surgery. She felt distant and unfamiliar.
When he still didn't speak, Bella didn't know what to say either. Eventually, she broke the silence. "If there's nothing to talk about, I'll just go back." Dominic immediately reached over and locked the car doors. "I've been busy lately. If that's what's bothering you, I'll make it up to you once things calm down. I've always been busy, haven't I? I've been trying not to travel as much."
Bella crossed her arms defensively and said, "I don't care if you're busy or not. Running Miller Group is a heavy burden. If it were me, I wouldn't have been able to handle it either. So, don't worry, it's fine."
