CEO's Tears Over Pregnancy Test Discovery

Chapter 1865

Wendy lit up with joy when she saw her grandmother. "Grandma, aren't you supposed to be away?"

"Oh, my precious Wendy!" Her grandmother exclaimed, immediately noticing the changes in her granddaughter. "Look at you, how did you get so thin? Has someone not been taking good care of you?" She cast a sharp glance at the middle-aged man beside her. The man could only manage an awkward smile and a half-hearted excuse. "I'm sorry, Wendy. Dad's been so busy with work."

Wendy's grip on her grandmother's hand tightened.

She wasn't the naive girl she used to be, blindly believing whatever excuses were fed to her. What work could possibly be more important than one's own child? It was nothing but an excuse.

Karina was right-people who didn't value her simply weren't worth her energy.

Ignoring her father completely, Wendy led her grandmother over to Karina. "Grandma, Dr. Karina has been taking such good care of me," she said.

"Whenever I needed something, it was always her who brought it to me."

"Yes, yes," her grandmother replied warmly, her gratitude evident. "Dr. Karina, thank you so much. It's because of you that my precious granddaughter is doing so well."

Karina smiled as she watched the exchange. She was fully aware of how awkward Wendy's father must feel, but she had no intention of addressing him. After all, wasn't this discomfort of his own making?

Wendy's grandmother soon turned to Karina with a question. "Dr. Karina, how is Wendy doing? I was hoping to ask about her condition."

Karina, perceptive as ever, caught on immediately. "You're asking because you want to know if Wendy can be discharged, right?"

Wendy's grandmother smiled, a little sheepish. "You're too sharp, Dr. Karina. Yes, I was thinking of taking her home. The hospital is so far from us, and you've seen what those two are like." She gestured toward Wendy's parents. "I can't rely on them to look after her properly, so I thought it'd be better to bring her home, where I can take care of her myself."

Karina agreed without hesitation.

"Really? She can go home?" Wendy's grandmother asked, delighted.

"She can. Wendy has made a good recovery over these past few weeks. She just needs to avoid intense physical activity for now, but aside from that, there's nothing major to her.

worry about," Karina ass

Karina genuinely hoped Wendy would spend more time surrounded by people who loved her. At

nineteen Wendy was at a formative age, and she would face many challenges ahead. It was important for ber to build a strong sense of self and have a safe haven she could rely on.

Until now, Karina doubted that her parents could provide that stability, but with her grandmother in the picture, she felt reassured.

That very day, Wendy's grandmother arranged for her discharge and took her home.

As they were leaving, Wendy seemed reluctant. Still, her pride wouldn't let her admit it.

Karina, ever understanding, smiled knowingly. "You'll have plenty of chances to visit again. Don't worry."

"Mm," Wendy murmured, nodding lightly.

Karina watched as Wendy got into the car, the door slowly closing. Just as Karina turned to head back inside, the car door suddenly swung open. Wendy bolted out, ran straight to Karina, and wrapped her arms tightly around her.

Caught off guard, Karina froze.

Nestled in her embrace, Wendy's voice was barely audible. "Dr. Karina, I'll never forget you."

Karina's heart melted. She gently stroked Wendy's hair and sighed softly. Wendy's struggles ultimately stemmed from a deep lack of love. Her fixation on Wilfred was a reflection of the cracks in herbroken family life.

Karina could only hope that things would get better for Wendy in the future.

As she watched Wendy leave, Karina turned back to her duties, her expression noticeably lighter. It was as if a heavy burden had finally been lifted from her shoulders.
