Chapter Moving On
Nearly a month had gone by and I was happier than I'd ever been. I felt free and safe and I might even go as far as saying in love. Jakob treated me like a person while also accommodating for my need to be, well... owned. When we went out he'd order for me and he had taken me shopping to let me pick out my own clothes for the first time.
Jakob knew a little bit about my relationship with Warren and how I had little freedom. He definitely didn't seem to approve and took time to explain to me that it wasn't at all what a BDSM relationship should be like. That was another thing, he hadn't pushed me to do anything with him at all.
Of course we hugged and kissed and spent the night but he understood that I needed time. However, he did make sure that I could explore with BDSM the way that I wanted. I had always thought that it was some kind of sick and shameful thing but with Jakob he made it feel liberating. He explained what to do and helped me find out what I liked and didn't and overall he was a much, much better dominant to me than Warren ever was.
"Jakob?" I mumbled as he kissed my neck. We were laying in bed at his house and watching movies. His arms were wrapped around my waist and it was unbelievable how much I enjoyed being spooned.
"Yes, little one?" He mumbled as I turned in his arms to face him.
"I'm worried about him," I admitted and placed my hand on Jakob's shoulder.
"Warren?" He sounded confused. He had the right to be.
"He's just never left me alone for this long and I know that I said I hate him but I still kind of care about what happens to him," I murmured and looked away, "I don't want him to do anything stupid because of me."
"So you're saying you want to check up on him?" He asked and stroked my cheek.
"I- yeah," I sighed, "do you think it's a bad idea?"
"Maybe," he remarked, "have you called or texted him at all?"
I chewed on my lower lip, "no, I'm kind of scared that he'll answer."
"Perhaps you should try calling before going to see him in person," Jakob cocked his head to the side as I snuggled closer to him.
"Yeah, I think so too," I whispered, "will you do it with me?"
"Of course I will, sweetheart," he cooed and kissed me on the forehead.
"Thank you for everything, Jakob," I mumbled, "you treat me too good."
"No, I just treat you the way you deserve," he smiled and I could only smile back.
"And you always know what to say," I giggled before pulling him in for a kiss. He held the back of my neck and took over just like I wanted him to. After a moment he pulled back before giving me another chaste kiss.
"I love you, Paige," he hummed tenderly and squeezed me tighter.
"I love you too," I sighed in content and hooked my leg over his waist.
"Mm, you have classes tomorrow," Jakob remarked and lifted up the remote to shut off the TV, "you should get some rest."
I giggled and nestled against him, "yes, Sir."
"Little one, wake up," came a soothing voice in my ear. I whined and pushed at him.
"Noo," I pouted and pulled the blanket over my head, "I don't wanna."
"Don't use that tone with me, Paige," he said sternly and pulled the blanket back, "now won't you be a good boy for me?"
I huffed and peeked up at him, "I'm a good boy."
"Yes you are, now go hop in the shower while I make us some breakfast, alright?" He smiled and pulled me out of bed.
I stood on my tippy toes to peck him on the jaw, "yessir."
Twenty minutes later I was on my way to the kitchen. It smelled like he'd made pancakes. I walked to the island and stared down the hallway in search of him.
"Ja-" arms around my waist and cut me off.
"I love it when you use my soap," he murmured and kissed my neck, "it makes you smell like me."
I smiled and placed my hands atop his, "and I love feeling like I'm yours."
"Ah- if it's too much I can-"
"No, no," I shushed him and turned in his arms, "you're perfect. Now have breakfast with me?"
"Of course, darling."
We sat in the car outside of the house as I stared down at Warren's name on my phone. Jakob placed a hand on my knee.
"You don't have to," he mumbled and gave me a little squeeze.
"But I do. I can't let everything be in vain," I sighed and pressed the button without another thought. After the second ring I knew that he probably wouldn't pick up. I had always been Warren's top priority and that meant that it was one ring or less.
It was numbing to hear the click and the voicemail.
I declined to leave a message, "Warren... I know you're giving me space but I haven't seen or heard from you in a month and I'm worried about you. Please call me back- I don't want you to get hurt."
With a sigh I hung up and looked at Jakob.
"Is there anything else I can do?" He asked and tilted his head to the side.
I leaned over to kiss him, "if he doesn't call me back then do you think you could take me to the manor?"
"If that's what you want, then of course I will," he replied and gave me another kiss.
The rest of the day I couldn't think of anything but the voicemail. Every minute I was checking my phone and hoping desperately for any kind of contact. My professors seemed to drone on and the clock couldn't tick fast enough at work.
I was chewing my lip and staring down at my phone intently as I walked out of the diner. Maybe I could walk home, it wasn't so late. Then again, Jakob had expressed his concern about my safety walking alone at night. I considered calling him when I looked up and noticed him standing by his car across the street already.
I smiled to myself, he was too much.
"Good evening, Paige," he smiled and brought me in for a kiss.
"Evening, I didn't know you were picking me up?" I remarked as he opened the door for me.
"I thought I would surprise you- there's something on the dash for you," he answered and walked around to his side.
I tilted my head to the side and picked up the small present. He backed out as I pulled the ribbon undone. Inside was a small jewellery box.
"Oh, you shouldn't have," I smiled and pulled out the small golden hoops.
"I saw them today and they made me think of you. You always wear those old silver ones," he shrugged as I weighted them in my palm. I never thought about taking my hoops out. They were the first thing that Warren had ever given me. I hadn't taken them out since.
"Thank you, they're very nice," I murmured and placed them back into the box for later.
Fifteen minutes later he was walking me to my door, "so did he ever call you back?"
I sighed and stared at the ground, "no. Nothing."
"Should I pick you up tomorrow morning then?" Jakob asked and placed a hand on my lower back. I leaned closer to him as we reached my door and I pulled out my key.
"If it's not too much trouble. I know you have work," I shrugged and looked away. He tilted my chin up so I had to meet his eye.
"It's no trouble, little one, you know you're more important to me," he cooed and warmth flooded my chest. He was so charming.
"Thank you, Jakob. Do you want to come in?" I asked and opened the door.
"I shouldn't. If I do I won't be able to leave," he groaned and hooked his thumbs through my belt loops to pull me close, "but spare me a good night kiss?"
I giggled and rose onto my tippy toes as I gripped his upper arms, "as many as you want."
The next morning I carried out my usual routine while getting ready and then spent an extra five minutes staring in the mirror and trying to decide if I should wear the new earrings or not. In the end I decided that I would and placed my old ones in the box.
A buzz from my pocket knocked me out of my stupor. Good morning, love. I'm waiting outside when you're ready, it was from Jakob. I shot him a quick text to tell him that I was on my way out.
My heart leapt with joy when I saw him waiting for me and as I entered the car.
"Good morning," I grinned and leaned over to give him a kiss.
"Good morning, sweetheart," he smiled and began to drive off, "sleep well?"
"Not as well as I do with you," I remarked with an over exaggerated sigh.
"The same could be said for me," Jakob grinned in response, "maybe you'd like to stay the night on Thursday too?"
My heart beat ten times faster at the offer. It was true that I slept better with him. Nothing was more amazing than waking up in his arms.
"And any other night you'd like me to," I cooed with a wide smile.
"I'll have to keep that in mind," he answered and gave me a little wink. I had to admit that it made my heart flutter.
As we drove down the path to the manor I grew more and more uneasy. I was scared to see him again.
"Paige," Jakob sounded serious, "you don't have to. I don't want you to feel obligated."
"It's fine, Jakob," I returned as the gates came into view, "I promise it will be fine. Just wait for me, okay?"
"Of course, love," he returned as we came to a stop.
"Thank you for this," I mumbled and opened my door, "if I'm not out in twenty minutes then you should probably come and get me."
He nodded silently as I shut the door and walked to the middle of the gates.
"Let me in Lorcan," I yelled very loudly and them smiled in satisfaction as the gates parted.
It was time to see Warren again.
