Can't Win Me Back (Isabella and Nathan)

Chapter 42

"Who's going to pay back the medical expenses you borrow?"

Isabella raised an eyebrow and asked her mother.

Moore's mother replied as if it were obvious, "You're my daughter, of course, the money you borrow has to be repaid by you."

Isabella shouted angrily, "But I'm not your only daughter!"

Moore's mother snapped, "Why are you so petty? I didn't raise your Sis, so how could I ask her for money? Besides, your Sis's health is so bad, she needs a lot of money. What's wrong with you helping her with the financial burden?" Isabella trembled with rage. "You..."

Theodore's long, jade-like fingers lightly tapped on Isabella's shoulder, silently comforting her.

Isabella turned to him and gave him a grateful smile, though it was bitter and forced.

"Sis, you're a bit worked up. Let me talk to her?"

Theodore suggested.

Isabella knew that when facing her mother, she was too emotionally overwhelmed to have a rational conversation, so she stepped back.

Theodore moved forward, positioning himself in front of Isabella to shield her. His handsome face, as cold as ice, looked down with a frosty gaze at Moore's mother.

"I can lend you the money, but you must sign an agreement to sever all ties with Bella."

The aura he exuded instantly subdued Moore's mother.

She stood frozen, stunned for a moment. After a long pause, she finally sneered, "I raised her so big, I may not have earned much credit, but I certainly suffered. And now you want her to sever ties with me? Who's going to take care of me when I'm old? I'll be lying in bed, depending on her to care for me."

"Isabella has always been good at taking care of people. Her Sis isn't as attentive as she is," Moore's mother said, recalling how Isabella had cared for her when she was young. A satisfied expression appeared on her face.

Theodore's eyes grew colder, and he said with a hint of menace, "You'd better check with a lawyer. A daughter like Bella, who has no income, can give you very little in terms of support. Maybe a few hundred a month, and that's only if she's willing to give it to you. If she's not happy, she can drag it out... And as for you wanting her to take care of you, well, you know how you treated Bella in the past."

Moore's mother froze. She wanted to argue, but the sharpness of Theodore's words stopped her.

"I'll give you one million," he continued, his voice cutting through the air like a blade, "and this will be your only chance to get rich."

Moore's mother was deep in thought. In fact, after Isabella left home, she had entertained the idea of suing her to get her to pay her living expenses once she came of age. However, a lawyer had told her that, given Isabella's lack of income and the fact that she wasn't yet legally required to support her mother, her chances of winning were zero.

But now... seeing Isabella dressed so lavishly and with the air of a wealthy young lady, Moore's mother's greedy desires were fully awakened.

"My Bella is Mrs. Hill, she's worth a lot," Moore's mother tried to negotiate.

"One million, is that supposed to be a bargain?"

Isabella's face darkened as she coldly replied. "When I married Nathan, we signed a prenuptial agreement. the Hill family's money has nothing to do with me."

Moore's mother reached up to scratch her head, furious at Isabella's ignorance. "How could you be so stupid? How could you sign such an agreement?"

Theodore grabbed Moore's mother's hand and forcefully pushed her away. She stumbled, almost falling to the ground.

His cold voice, as chilling as a demon's, echoed above her head. "Bella has been begging on the streets since she was six, giving you every penny she earned. If you count it, you've raised her for six years, but she's spent over ten years supporting you through begging. You've gained far more than you deserve." "I suggest you learn to be content, or I'll sue you for child abuse."

Moore's mother's eyes widened in shock, but she still tried to argue. Theodore stepped closer, his tone relentless. "From now on, I don't want to see you in front of Bella. If you ever make her unhappy again, I'll make sure you spend the rest of your life in prison." Moore's mother was clearly frightened. "Who are you? Do you have that kind of power?"

Though it was a question, her voice lacked confidence.

Theodore coldly said, "My name? You don't deserve to know it."

"In a few days, my people will deliver the check to you."

With that, he took Isabella's hand and walked away.

Moore's mother stared at his retreating back, her eyes filled with anxiety and resentment.

She turned and headed straight for the Gu Corporation.

When the assistant led her to Nathan's office, he looked surprised. There was a hint of disgust in his eyes.

"What are you doing here?"

Moore's mother nervously rubbed her hands together. "Son-in-law, I really have something important to discuss with you." Nathan nodded to the assistant. "You can leave now."

The assistant left, closing the door gently behind him, then stood silently outside, not leaving immediately.

Inside the office, Nathan couldn't be bothered to pretend anymore. His expression shifted to one of impatience.

"If you have something to say, say it quickly."

Moore's mother hesitated. "Victoria came to see me."

She knew that mentioning Victoria would get Nathan's attention.

As expected, Nathan looked up at her, his eyes silently asking her to continue.

Moore's mother said, "She told me that you and Isabella haven't been getting along recently."

Nathan furrowed his brows. He had never taken Isabella seriously, so he didn't understand why her emotional issues with him were causing such a stir with Victoria and her mother.

"She's just throwing a little tantrum," he said casually.

Moore's mother smiled. For some reason, Nathan felt that her smile carried a hint of pity and sarcasm.

Moore's mother continued, "I know my daughter best.

She's always been good-natured and gentle. She doesn't go against her nature unless something really upsets her.

If she's upset with you, it only means she's truly unhappy with you."

Nathan fell silent for a moment, then straightened up. "You may be her mother, but you don't love her.

You don't understand her."

What kind of girl doesn't have temper?

To him, Isabella was no different from other pretentious women. She liked to play the game of hard-to-get to win his affection.

Too bad he wasn't fooled.

Moore's mother pressed on. "Then she's been cheating on you.

Do you know?"

Her words hit Nathan like a thunderclap, leaving him stunned.

"What did you say? Isabella is cheating?"

Nathan couldn't believe it. He thought Moore's mother must be mistaken.

Moore's mother, who was always stirring up trouble, pressed on. "You must be mistaken. Any woman can betray her husband, but Isabella would never..."

He knew just how high Isabella's moral standards were.

Moore's mother became desperate. "Son-in-law, believe me, Isabella has really been unfaithful.

I went to see her today, and I saw her with another man. That man was treating her very affectionately, even helping her deal with me."
