Bound by Fire: Burning desire (#2)

Chapter 36.1

Ace p.o.v.

After putting Daleyza and Aiden in the car with Vik I took the other car and went to the address Peter was at. I gave my men the instructions to raid the building. I don’t know why, but something felt wrong. Ever since I woke up this morning I had a feeling something would go wrong today.

Once there, getting in was a bit easier than I had expected. Something was wrong. I was tired of this man causing havoc in my life. I charged at him, but he stood there smiling, not even flinching. Not even a second later the door banged open and a group of men came in. I froze in my tracks when I saw who was being dragged in.

Aiden was screaming and looked scared. Daleyza was being dragged by two men with blood running down her head and Vik was walking in front with a vicious smile on his face.

“Not so confident now, are we?” Peter taunted me.

“You’re going to pay for this.” I snarled to Vik.

“I already paid my price. Now it’s your time.” I took a deep breath, trying to pace myself.

“You’re trapped Ace… might as well give up now.” He walked up and stood beside Peter. “You told me every detail of your plan so there is nothing you can do. Your men are being neutralized as we speak.” I clenched my fists.

“I thought you knew me better. I always have a plan B.” I smirked and pressed the button on my watch.

“How long till your plan B is in action? You want to see my plan B?”

He raised his gun toward me as did Peter. I took both of mine and pointed them to both of them. Peter smiled smugly. As if he knew he won, but he should know better than to underestimate me. He taunted me as he explained what he was going to do next but I wasn’t paying attention. I focused on the spot between his eyes where I was going to shoot. He was in the middle of his sentence when I pulled the trigger. His lifeless body fell to it’s knees and toppled over. I stood over his body till I was sure he wasn’t alive anymore.

Scanning the surroundings I made sure Daleyza and Aiden were out of danger. Most of Peter’s men were neutralized. That’s when my eyes landed on Vik. He let out a relieved breath and sagged his shoulders.

“I thought that creep wouldn’t stop talking.” He sighed. I smirked in response.

I signaled JJ to check the perimeter, making sure everything was taken care of. Then I walked to Daleyza and Aiden.

“You two okay?” I hugged them. Daleyza was putting the puzzle pieces together in her mind as she tried to calm Aiden down. Who clung to me refusing to let go.

“Why didn’t you tell me Vik was posing as a spy?” Daleyza pouted. Making us laugh.

“Because the less people know the better. We couldn’t risk him getting exposed before we took care of that bastard, or we would have to start from scratch again.”

Without looking back we left the warehouse. Once we made sure everything was in place we made our way back home. After a really long time I felt like I can breathe in piece. They were safe... The most important people in my life were safe and with me. There was no immediate danger anymore. Not that there never will be again but at least we learned to be more vigilant going forward.

Waking up the next morning everything felt so surreal. If not for the cut on my hand I would’ve thought it really was a dream. Everything happened so fast.

After freshening up I walked up to Aiden’s room. He was still into deep sleep. I didn’t want to bother him. He went through enough yesterday. I don’t know how this will shape him for his future but he does need to know what his father. He needs to know how to defend himself properly.

I walk down the stairs and heard Ace talking. Following his voice I end up in the living room where he was seated with Vik and Mateo. They looked in a serious discussion, so I decided to join in. They stopped talking as I walked in. As I was about to sit down Ace pulled me onto his lap and buried his nose in my neck as he continued talking. They talked about the future plans, updating the security and so on for a while. I got hungry so I left to find some food.

I was just finishing plating my waffles when I felt a presence behind me. Without wasting a second I elbowed him and he groaned.

"What the hell, Daleyza?" I saw Ace clutching his stomach as he bent over and winced.

"It was a reflex." I shrug.

"I have a feeling one of these days you're going to shoot me and say it was a reflex." He shook his head as he laughed. Coming closer he picked me up and put me on the kitchen counter.

"So what now?"

"We survive, we live... and most importantly we do better than our parents." He smiled charmingly as he placed a kiss on my lips.

Since a lot of you want a happy ending to this story I’ve decided to write one.

I hope you like it. So chapter 36.1 is the one with the happy ending and chapter 36.2 is the alternate one. If you don't want to get sad by the alternate ending I suggest you just skip it and consider this the last chapter.

XOXO,

Sur
