Chapter 27

Aiden fell asleep on the ride home so we got to postpone the talk till tomorrow. Ace took him to his room as I went straight to the shower. After a while I heard doors open and close till I felt Ace behind me. I turned around watching the water cascading down his body. My hands moved on its own accord and started tracing his muscles. He turned around and pulled me in for a kiss. The heated kiss continued till I got slammed against the wall knocking all the air out of my lungs. He continued placing kisses all over till he entered me and started giving me the pleasure my body was craving. It didn’t take us long to reach a peak. We stood there trying to catch our breaths. Looks like we just needed a release. Without uttering anything else we washed ourselves off and he carried me to our bed. We fell asleep as soon as we laid down.
The annoying sound of Ace’s ringtone woke me up. I groaned and tried to wake him but he didn’t budge.
“Turn off your damn phone.” I grumble as I slap his chest. I heard him take a sharp breath and after a few seconds the sound stopped. Ace got out of bed and I turned around and buried my face in the pillow. It didn’t take him long to return. He sighed as he climbed back in bed. He immediately put his arms around me and pulled me close burying his face in the crook of my neck. I stilled for a moment. I wasn’t used to this.
“Who was it?”
“JJ with an update about my father.”
“Is he dead?”
“No.”
“Then why did he have to give a fucking update at 4 in the morning.” He chuckled hearing that.
“You sound so sexy when you cuss.” He whispered in my ear as he trailed kisses down my neck. His hands started wandering off to my erogenous spots earning a small moan from me.
“It’s too early for this.” I sighed. “Ace…” it barely came out as a whisper as he let his fingers roam.
“Come on… see it as morning cardio.” He smirked against my skin as he claimed my lips. Just as I started responding to his actions his phone rang again.
“I am going to throw it out of the window.” I grumbled and he chuckled in response.
“Ignore it.” He whispered. But the damn thing was relentless. Giving up he answered. He mumbled something in Russian and walked out of the room again. Leaving me frustrated. Huffing I got up and took a shower. It was clear I wasn’t getting any sleep. When I walked out Ace was pacing through the living room yelling out orders over the phone.
“What happened?” his head snapped up as he heard me. He looked so frustrated.
“They can’t find Lea.” He sank into the sofa. “And I can’t reach Vik.”
I walked to the sofa and sank in beside him. It felt like my hands had a mind of its won and it started massaging Ace's shoulders. He sighed and leaned in to my touch.
“Are you more worried about Vik and his situation with Lea or that this so called war ended too easily?”
“I don’t know.” He rubbed his hands over his face. “I thought I was the only one who thought that. Something seems off.”
I nodded.
“I’ve put men to track both Vik and Lea and I hope we have a lead soon…” he was cut off by his ringtone again. He groaned as he stared at the screen and picked it up. I went up to check on Aiden and found him awake in his bed.
“How are you awake so early monkey?” I asked as I approached him.
“I’m scared mama.” His voice almost made me break.
“Why?”
“They’ll take you away again.” He whispered as he buried his face in my lap. I sighed.
“Come on let’s get you showered.” I pick him up and help him with the shower and putting on clean clothes. By the time we walked down Ace was pacing through the living room… again, barking out orders… again. When he saw us he cut the call and called Aiden to him. They sat down.
“Aiden, I’m going to be honest with you. Do you know what the mafia is?” Ace started talking and I was intrigued to see what he was going to say.
“They are bad people.” Aiden answered in confusion. Ace’s eyes snapped up to mine. He took a deep breath.
“Good and bad depend on the context son. What is good for one is bad for the other.”
“Okay?”
“Your papa is part of the mafia. Actually the head of it.” I weighed in.
“But… but how can you be bad?” he looked around him.
“Like I said it depends on the context. I am part of this after taking over from my papa who took it over from his and so on. One day you’re going to be a part of it as much as I am.”
“But I don’t want to.” Aiden seemed overwhelmed by all the information thrown at him. He buried his face in my abdomen. I crouched down to his level.
“Hey monkey. Listen to me… no one is going to force you into anything. I promise.” He nodded hesitantly. “But… you need to learn how to fight.”
“Why?”
“Because you need to know how to defend yourself. Because as much as we want protect you, your mom and I can’t be with you all the time and you should be able to stand up for yourself.” Ace answered. Aiden kept staring from me to Ace. One of Ace’s men walked in interrupting us, but seeing Aiden’s reaction he needed time to let everything sink in.
