Chapter 26
Ace p.o.v.
If this yebar’ thinks he can attack me in my own warehouse he has another thing coming to him. I load my gun as I try to draw him out. He was hiding behind his men… like a chertov trus.
“Are going to hide behind your men the whole time?” I yelled as I walked to the middle. “Come here and face me… unless you are not man enough.” I scoff. He finally appeared.
“I’m going to make you eat your words.” Mateo snarled. Both of us drew our guns and pointed to each other’s head. Our surroundings completely tuned out. Just as I was about to pull the trigger a voice interrupted.
“You both are such idiots.” I heard a voice from beside me as I felt something on the back of my head. Did Daleyza just flick me on the head? I turn angrily toward her. Why was she even here? And then I realized she was right… Lea must have been working against us. She was the only other person who knew except me and Vik. Daleyza directed her angry gaze toward Mateo and me. Did she just? I started laughing and Mateo stared at me like I was crazy. Daleyza was the only person alive to flick two mafia bosses on their heads.
“Call your men off Mateo. And you too Ace.” She crossed her arms and waited. I had a stare off with him.
“Not happening.”
“Nope.” Both of us spoke at the same time.
“God. I can see you two are brothers. Stop being so moronic and stop.” She wasn’t backing down. “If you open your mouths to say anything except stopping this nonsense I’m going to make sure you can’t talk again.” She challenged us.
“Daleyza what are you doing?” I heard Vik whisper. As he looked from Daleyza to Aiden. Who looked around like he couldn’t believe what he was seeing. Daleyza on the other hand wasn’t backing down. She kept her gaze on Mateo and me. Neither one of us were backing down. She surprised me by taking my gun. Without sparing me a glance she turned to Mateo.
“Call off your men now.” She demanded after giving Vik a nod to signal our men to do the same. Slowly everyone started lowering their guns. “Good.” She sighed.
“Now… you two are starting a war for no apparent reason.” She stared back and forth between us. “You wanted what you had and vice versa. Mateo you wanted your father and Ace you wanted to escape your father. Don’t you see you’re not getting anywhere with this petty war. Mateo believe me your father isn’t the best person to have around while growing up you can ask your brother. So stop with the revenge you thought you needed and move the fuck on.” She pointed to us. “While neither of your position is what you wanted, you have to play with the hand you have dealt. And believe me leading your men in a useless war isn’t a smart move. You are giving your enemies an opportunity to use against you. If the biggest mafia’s fight against each other and wipe themselves out the playing ground is free for them.”
We were all silent for a while. It looked like Mateo was battling with his own thoughts.
“She’s right.” I finally broke the silence. Everyone stared at me like I lost my mind. Everyone except Daleyza. She had a smile on her face. The one she had when she knew she was right. “You should be happy you grew up away from his clutches that manipulative bastard would have used anything he could against you like he did with me. He isn’t worth it to start a war over.” I shrug.
“What the hell is going on here?”
“Well, speak of the devil.” I heard Daleyza mutter under her breath. From the corner of my eye I saw my father walking toward us.
“The whole setting screams war. So why are you standing around like that?” my father sneered. I really don’t have the energy for this. I noticed Mateo staring angrily at him.
“You were right.” Mateo said before charging to him and punching him straight in the face.
“Holy shit.” Vik exclaimed. Everyone stared at the altercation in front of them.
“How I wish I was the one to do that.” Daleyza whispered making me chuckle.
“Mama what is happening?” Aiden asked burying his face against Daleyza. She stared at me for a moment.
“I’ll explain later.” She whispered to him. I guess it was time for him to know about his family.
Mateo was still having a stare off with dad. I am curious how this will end.
“Why is everyone staring? End him!!” Dad seethed.
“I thought you would be more ecstatic to see another one of your spawns.” I snorted. His head snapped toward me.
“Chto ty imeyesh’ v vidu? (What do you mean?)” He looked confused.
“Hello father.” Mateo smirked. Dad stared wide eyed from him to me. Till he fell to the ground clutching his heart.
“Blya ... yesli by eto bylo vse, ya by sdelal eto mnogo let nazad. (Fuck… if that’s all it would take I would have done this years ago.)” I muttered. I signaled one of my men to check on him.
“He’s still alive. Probably a heart attack. We should call doc.” He said and they carried him away.
“Well that was anticlimactic.” Mateo chuckled. We all laughed hearing his statement. “So what now?”
“How about you stop poking me for a war and we live peacefully besides each other.” I shrugged. Mateo signaled for his men to leave. After an awkward pause he retreated and we were surrounded in silence again.
“Vik where is Lea?” Daleyza suddenly asked staring at her phone.
“Uhh she was at home while I was out with Aiden.” He answered confused. I sighed. It was time to tell him the truth. I was about to speak up, but Daleyza beat me to it.
“She’s not there.”
“What do you mean?” Vik took out his own phone and dialed her number. I stare at her questioningly.
“I sent Dane to get her and he just messaged me saying she’s not there.” She replied.
“Vik…” I tried talking to him but he wasn’t even listening. He left in such a haste he didn’t even look around. Daleyza and I stared at each other.
“Clean everything up and go rest… all of you. We’ve have enough excitement for tonight. Make sure to change the security.” I said to Kyle. He nodded. I picked Aiden up and took Daleyza’s hand as we made our way out of the warehouse. I really needed a long shower and some fucking sleep.
