Chapter BIT 51
Chapter 51
Karkly 1 hd pain to fast for Rebecca She staggered towards the bathroom and
speed all her breakfau. Her joints ached, and her chest felt tight.
Ma’am, are you okay**
A nurse appeared just as Rebecca was trying to clean herself up and change clothes. Rebecca looked up and shook her head. “I’m just a little dizzy and nauseous,” she replied
The nurse helped Rebecca up from the floor and assisted her in cleaning up and changing clothes. Rebecca remained silent, her expression flat, struggling to shed tears even though she wanted to.
“Ma’am, we know some new mothers have trouble adjusting to their new reality. We have a psychiatrist here, and we will be happy to help you. So don’t hesitate to tell me or anyone if you need it,” said the nurse kindly.
“Thank you, Maria,” said Rebecca, forcing a small smile just to appear sane.
After Maria left, Rebecca sat on the bed in silence. She wondered why Harvey approached her again, married her, and even built a family with her if he was only going to return to Alicia in the end.
“We don’t know the truth yet, Becky. Something else might have happened. I mean, Harvey couldn’t have consciously gone with Alicia; he just became a father!” exclaimed Cathy, who had just arrived, as usual, always able to understand what was in her friend’s mind.
“Cathy, Harvey is an adult man, much taller and bigger than Alicia. You understand what I mean, right? There’s no way Alicia could force Harvey or, worse, kidnap him. I mean, the security officers even saw them!” Rebecca turned her face to the window, hoping her tears would fall but failing, which only made the tightness in her chest
worse.
Cathy sighed deeply. “I’ll find out, okay? We can hire your friend who caught Victor. What’s his name? Max?”
Rebecca snorted, “He’s Harvey’s friend; they will cover for each other,” she replied, pessimistic.

Cathy scratched her head. “No problem! We’ll find him ourselves! Well, since you have to stay at home, I’ll go alone, okay? Don’t worry; there are many other ways,” she said as she plopped onto the sofa.
No, it’s not necessary, Rebecca said suddenly
Cathy glared and frowned. “What? What do you mean it’s not necessary?”
Rebecca swallowed, her throat feeling very sore. “It’s not necessary to look for him. If he suddenly disappears for a few days, his office will look for him and report it to the authorities. If that doesn’t happen, it means he deliberately disappeared. So, let’s just wait a few more days.”
“Becky, you sound like you’re not yourself. Are you okay?” Cathy began to worry about Rebecca’s change; she seemed emotionless.
Rebecca shrugged. “I’m fine.”
At that moment, there was a knock on the door, and a nurse appeared, pushing a baby crib. “Time to nurse, Mommy!” the nurse called. She picked up Rebecca’s baby and placed her in her mother’s arms. “I’ll be back in thirty minutes; enjoy your time!” she said, placing a bottle on the nightstand.
“Hi, Snowy,” Rebecca said, gazing at her little daughter with a warm smile.
“Snowy? Have you given her a name?” Cathy asked, surprised.
Rebecca shook her head. “If Harvey doesn’t return in a week, I’ll have to name her myself. But for now, I’ll call her Snow,” she said without taking her eyes off her daughter’s face, as if those clear, innocent eyes were the remedy for all her heart’s worries.
Cathy nodded slightly. “Alright, I’m going to the café nearby. Do you want anything?” she asked, standing up from the sofa and looking at Rebecca’s baby with adoration.
“Since I’m not breastfeeding, can you bring me a cold double–shot Americano and a slice of cheesecake?” Rebecca requested with her usual flat expression. “Okaaaaay, um, Becky…”
“What?” Rebecca asked, looking up in surprise.
“Should we delay announcing your baby’s birth on social media? Or-”

“We’ll wait and decide later. Give me a week, Rebecca answered firmly as if she already knew what she was going to do with her life. She was broken, in pain, and hurt, but she refused to give in to the situation. She had a tiny baby to protect, so she would try to May same, even if it meant pretending.
The next day….
“Ma’am, you’re allowed to leave the hospital, but if you still feel pain and need assistance, you can stay here longer,” said a nurse, placing Rebecca’s baby in a crib because she didn’t need to return to the nursery.
Rebecca decided to go home. Harvey was still missing, and there was no news from him as if he had vanished into thin air.
“Careful! Are you okay?” Cathy asked as she helped Rebecca out of the car.
Rebecca nodded, looking up at the apartment building Harvey had bought for their small family, and suddenly her legs stiffened.
“What’s wrong?” Cathy asked, confused by Rebecca’s sudden immobility.
“How can I live there without Harvey? Every corner will remind me of him. I think I should-”
“You can move later, okay? Not now! Don’t you still have five days to decide what to do? So don’t think foolishly! Now hold Snowy, go inside, I’ll bring your stuff!” Cathy said firmly. Rebecca nodded, grateful that someone sane was beside her.
Slowly, she walked into the lobby of the apartment that had witnessed her life with Harvey for almost a year. Her chest felt tight, as if someone had just shoved a wad of paper down her throat, blocking her breath. She took a deep breath and crouched, afraid of falling with her daughter in her arms, while Cathy was still busy unloading things from the car.
“Hey, are you okay?” someone asked, bending down, trying to see her face.
Rebecca took a deep breath, hugged her daughter tightly, and looked up.
“You, Jacob?” she whispered, surprised to see the man with his shirt sleeves rolled up. Jacob grinned widely. “Oh God, such a small world! Becky! Long time no see!” he exclaimed cheerfully. “And this must be your baby?” he asked cautiously.

Rebecca nodded slowly. Honestly, the last thing she wanted was to meet people she knew because she didn’t want to explain Harvey’s absence.
“Um, let me help you,” Jacob said, extending his hand. Rebecca didn’t refuse because she needed support not to fall. “Is Harvey still outside? You can wait for him while sitting here; it would be better,” Jacob said, pointing to a sofa in the lobby waiting area.

Rebecca felt a hard blow to her chest. Jacob’s question was the question everyone would ask if Harvey didn’t come back to her for good.
“Becky, let’s go!” Suddenly, Cathy appeared.
Jacob frowned. “You’re not with Harvey?”
