Chapter Benson 68
Chapter 68 Misunderstandings and Truth
“Do you have any news for me?” Yvonne asked again, a trace of barely perceptible anticipation in her voice.
Bella gently shook her head, her eyes showing a hint of helplessness. “No, Yvonne.”
Yvonne felt a pang of bitterness but quickly controlled her emotions, forcing a reluctant smile. “It seems I’m being given special treatment.” Her tone carried a hint of self–mockery, but more so a sense of resignation.
“Indeed, Bella responded, her voice soft yet firm. “Honestly, I’m quite moved.” She knew Yvonne’s situation wasn’t easy, but she was also touched by Yvonne’s resilience and optimism.
“Then let’s go. I need to take care of some things.” Yvonne said with undeniable
determination. She knew that no matter how difficult the road ahead was, she had to face it bravely.
The head of the niche jewelry brand recommended by Megan was in Miami, and Yvonne was quite fond of the brand’s design and concept. This was a perfect opportunity for an in- depth discussion.
She imagined meeting with the brand’s head, her heart filled with anticipation.
She knew this meeting was not only a business opportunity but also a stage to showcase her abilities and charm.
Yvonne had been gone for a while, and the lobby of Agya Films had returned to its usual
calm.
Sunlight streamed through the tall floor–to–ceiling windows, reflecting softly off the polished marble floor, making the space exceptionally serene.
Mary finally spoke softly, her voice trembling slightly, “I’m sorry. I hugged you out of impulse earlier. If you go to see Miss Yvonne, it might have a bad effect on you.”
Her eyes flickered with unease and apology. She knew her actions might have been too impulsive, but she had no other choice.
Benson sat on the sofa, too lazy to respond.
His face showed no expression, but his eyes revealed a trace of impatience.
He knew Mary’s actions could cause unnecessary trouble, but he was more concerned
about Yvonne’s situation.
George was infuriated by Mary’s foolishness, his voice brimming with anger. “According to Miss Mary, we should be thanking you for today’s events?” His tone was full of sarcasm. He couldn’t understand Mary’s logic.
Hearing this, Mary looked at George with eyes full of grievance.
Her voice choked slightly, “I know Mr. Benson doesn’t have feelings for me. The rumors over the years were all for company publicity. But if Benson went to see Miss Yvonne after waiting so long, the media would make a big deal out of it. I was worried it would have a negative impact on Miss Yvonne, considering everyone thinks we’re a couple.” Her voice grew smaller, but her gaze remained unusually firm.
George was left speechless for a moment before squeezing out a response, “You’re quite clear about your position. Mr. Benson is obviously here for his wife, not you. Look at yourself; you can’t even compare to a strand of her hair.”
His tone was filled with disdain. He couldn’t understand Mary’s self–importance.
Given Mary’s numerous fervent fans, any misinformation could cause a major scandal the company couldn’t afford.
Mary had calculated the potential impact and deliberately staged this scene!
Mary’s eyes flashed with cunning. She knew her plan was halfway successful.
“Benson, I’m truly sorry. I didn’t know you were here. If I had known, I wouldn’t have shown up.” Mary’s voice trembled slightly. She tried to make her tone sound sincere and humble. Benson finally looked up, his gaze cold as ice. His eyes were like winter frost, devoid of warmth, making Mary shiver.
She swallowed hard, struggling to maintain her composure as she met his gaze.
Benson tossed a document at her, “Sign it.” His voice was cold and firm, leaving no room for negotiation.
Mary opened the document bag in confusion, discovering that the company had decided she was no longer suitable to be Agya Films‘ spokesperson and demanded to terminate the contract. Her face turned pale instantly, a wave of unease surging within her.
“Benson, I don’t know why Miss Yvonne sees me this way. I think she misunderstood. You and I were just acting. Even if she doesn’t trust me, she should trust her own husband.” Mary tried to explain, but inside, she was critical of Yvonne.
She felt Yvonne was overly sensitive, causing trouble for Benson over minor issues while claiming to be the leader.
Benson crossed his legs and smirked coldly, Is it Yvonne who sees you this way, or did you foolishly send her the early pregnancy report?”
“Didn’t you know that when you signed the endorsement contract, you were not allowed to reveal any marriage or childbirth within two years?” His tone was full of sarcasm. He .couldn’t understand Mary’s foolish behavior.
Mary suddenly realized that Yvonne was hinting at this when she demanded the contract and asked for documents at the company restaurant!
Chappy sa Misunderstandings and Truth
She had only wanted to anger Yvonne without considering the consequences!
A wave of regret washed over her, but her hatred for Yvonne grew stronger.
“Benson, if I’m terminated before finishing the shoot who will dare hire me for
endorsements in the future?” Mary’s voice carried a hint of despair. She knew her career could be severely damaged..
“Yvonne has already shown you mercy by considering you as my “lover.‘ You need to sign a new compensation agreement, worth five times as much, to restrict your behavior and complete our cooperation.
Since your stupidity caused this, the company won’t help you. Sign it, finish the shoot, and stop acting like an idiot.” Benson’s words were full of warning. He didn’t want to be
troubled by Mary’s actions anymore.
Benson stood up to leave, and George approached her, warning. “Know your place and don’t have unrealistic expectations. If it weren’t for Mr. Benson’s support, you’d still be struggling, not enjoying the limelight you do now.”
His tone was full of disdain. He couldn’t understand Mary’s self–importance.
Mentioning the past made Mary shiver and close her eyes.
Her heart was filled with complex emotions. She knew she couldn’t continue like this, or she might lose everything.
Yvonne was in the spacious bedroom of the Sycamore Road villa, carefully packing her suitcase.
Her movements were orderly, each piece of clothing folded neatly and placed into the suitcase.
Outside, the leaves of the sycamore tree swayed gently in the wind, and sunlight filtered. through the gaps, casting dappled shadows on the floor.
Suddenly, she heard the sound of a car engine in the distance.
It was Benson’s car. Her heartbeat quickened, but her expression remained calm. She didn’t turn around. She continued her task, as if the outside world had nothing to do with her.
Soon, steady footsteps echoed in the hallway, gradually approaching the bedroom.
Yvonne knew Benson had returned. Her heart was filled with mixed emotions, both anticipation and unease.
Benson walked into the bedroom, his gaze falling on Yvonne. She stood in front of the wardrobe, holding a shirt, ready to place it in the suitcase.
Benson paused for a moment, then slowly walked towards her. His eyes showed a hint of tenderness along with undeniable determination.
Chartered Mounderstandings and Truth
He walked up behind Yvonne, saying nothing, and gently wrapped his arms around her waist.
He buried his face in her neck, his warm breath making Yvonne shiver slightly.
Yvonne’s body stiffened slightly, and she instinctively struggled, but Benson’s strong arms tightened around her.
His voice was low and tender in her ear, “Don’t move. Let me hold you for a while.”
