Chapter 84
Her bag was empty?
All she could see was a gash at the bottom of her bag made by a sharp knife. Her wallet and cell phone were all gone. Only her keys, which were dangling from a compartment, were still jingling. She flipped the bag and looked over and over again. Her mind went blank. She was completely dumbfounded.
She had just gotten off the bus, and it was not far away! What was going on? Were her possessions all stolen? Why didn't she feel anything? She did not even notice it!
In the past, she would put a foldable umbrella in her bag. However, she took it out that morning because she thought it was too heavy!
She looked around twice on the spot. Then, she paved around where she was. There was nothing on the ground.
All of a sudden, she burst into tears of grievance. "Which b*stard did this? How could he rob from such a poor person like me?"
She thought of the 2,000 dollars reward she had just received, and she felt really sad!
Her cell phone, her ID card and all kinds of cards as well...
With her last hope, Alicia reluctantly went looking around again. This time, she paid special attention to the trash cans in the corner, the garbage piles, and so on. She could afford to lose her phone, but if she could find her ID card, that would save her a lot of trouble!
She followed the direction of the path where she had walked. Alicia retraced her steps and noticed a small alley not far away which was a night market street. However, there were not many people during the day, and she felt that she was more likely to find her things there at this hour.
When she entered the alley, she saw a young man in black flipping through a red wallet. Her eyes lit up. Alicia rushed forward and shouted.
"Thief! Give me back my wallet! You thief..."
She chased after the man and ran two streets in one breath even though she was wearing a pair of high heels. In the blink of an eye, she had lost track of the man. When she realized that her hopes were lost again, she was so tired that she was gasping for air. Alicia felt that she had been fooled enough, and she was so infuriated that she burst into tears.
"B*stard! You'd better pray that I don't catch you! How dare you steal. When I find you, I will peel your skin off and hang you on the tree..."
She was still cursing angrily. At the same time, Frederick had been waiting for her for almost 20 minutes. Seeing that he could not get in touch with her by phone, Frederick was so angry that his face turned livid.
"D*mned woman!" he cursed. He was only a little bit late. Could it be that she had already returned to complain about him?
Frederick could not get in touch with her. Hence, he drove straight home.
When the expensive car disappeared at the crossroad, only then did Alicia remember what she was supposed to do and walked back with heavy shoulders.
She had lost her phone, and all her money had been stolen. What should she do now?
After thinking for a while, she knew that she could only call a cab.
She looked at the time and realized that it was already half-past five. Alicia did not know whether Frederick was late or he left impatiently. As she walked, she felt very upset.
If he was late, but she did not wait for him, it would not end well for her! She did not know how badly she would be scolded by him when she got back! If he had left without waiting for her, this matter would most likely be made known to everyone. It would probably not end well for her either!
Should she continue to wait at the same place? Or should she call a cab? Should she go to the Clements family or her own home?
She was clearly lost. Alicia walked like a robot all the way, and her mind was in a mess. When she realized that her cheeks were cold, she suddenly came to her senses. She looked up and saw that it was raining all of a sudden.
"Oh, no, 1 can't be that unlucky!"
Her footsteps stopped and she glanced around. She was just about to find a place to take shelter from the rain when suddenly, there was a whooshing sound. In the blink of an eye, her vision was blurred by the downpour, and she was drenched.
Alicia cursed as she ran, "It seems that when I am unlucky, even God is not on my side."
It was not easy to find a place to hide from the rain. When Alicia was taking cover, she realized that the downpour had already become a drizzle. She rolled her eyes speechlessly; she did not even want to wipe herself dry anymore.
She cursed, "This rain was meant for me, right? What the hell!"
This time, Alicia did not go with the flow. She continued to take shelter.
On the other side, Frederick drove straight home. Because of the weather, the barbecue plan was replaced by tea time in a large glass-roofed room connected to a glass greenhouse. The shelves, billiards, seats, cards and so on had been arranged. The family was gathering in the hall and had tea while they chatted away.
Frederick entered the room. Coincidentally, his grandmother came out of the room while chatting with Miranda. When she saw him, she stuck her head out and looked behind him.
"Why did you come back alone? Where is Ally?"
Shocked, Frederick asked in a daze, "Hasn't she come back already?"
In an instant, his grandmother's face darkened. "Why are you asking me? Didn't she go
out with you?"
At this time, a bolt of lightning struck the air, and Frederick's heart also rumbled along with the sudden thunder.
He picked up his cell phone, and he dialed Alicia's number again.
"Sorry! The subscriber you dialed is power off. Please call again later."
As she listened, Mrs. Clements' expression became even worse. "Where did you leave her? It is raining so heavily. What if something happens?"
He looked outside. Frederick's palms were also sweating a little. "Grandma, I'll go and find her first. We'll talk about it when we come back!"
As he spoke, he turned around and strode out of the door.
"Hey, take an umbrella! Be careful on the way! This brat!" she scolded.
Grandma raised her hand anxiously. From behind her, Miranda said in a low voice, "Mrs. Clements, you should be happy! Master Frederick is finally nervous and worried! Don't worry, the rain is not that heavy!" It rained and rained, even though it was not heavy. After waiting for a while, Alicia began to be on the watch for taxis.
However, because it was a rainy day, it was not easy to grab a taxi. She did not have an umbrella nor did she have any money. She was drenched, thus, she dared not take a taxi in the heavy rain. She was afraid that she would be kicked out and she would be in a worse situation.
The rain was getting lighter, and the people around her came and went. Alicia began to walk to the entrance. When she saw a taxi, she waved her hand and ran forward. Suddenly, a car horn sounded, accompanied by a burst of rapid braking sound. A man's roar followed.
"D*mn it! Do you want to die?"
Before she returned to her senses, there was a sudden splashing sound. When Alicia recovered, she was already in a mess. She looked up and saw a fat middle-aged woman entering the taxi that she had hailed.
Before she could react, another puddle of water splashed on her face from far away!
Alicia was still in a daze after being shouted at by the rude man. She stood there for a long time and felt very unlucky. Her body was dirty, and she did not know which taxi would accept her. The rain gradually got heavier and heavier again. Subconsciously, she wanted to break down in tears.
She turned around. Alicia wanted to go back and hide from the rain. When she ran, she suddenly slipped. There was a ripped sound when she tried to stabilize her body. She then noticed that her skirt was torn open. It turned out that her dress was hooked to a little iron wire cocked by the roadside fence.
