Another Choice

It has been three months since Serena's death and I'm taking charge of my life again. I followed Emmett's advice and I'm doing the thing as I want not as people are expecting me too. I'm still working in the Team L, still with Lana and Asher and Tom. Emily is joining us too, depending on the mission. With Tom, we spoke about becoming a bigger pack but instead of 3, I was thinking a pack of 5 with Lana and Asher. We just have to see if it's possible as they are part of a werewolf's pack.

As for the mate hunting, what I can say... I still in the kissing toads' phase and I'm enjoying myself a lot. Noah is really annoying me and every time I'm at the castle he's here too. He tries to speak and to spend time with me while I do my best to avoid him. Tom finds all of this really funny. I don't really know which side he is.

Anyway, we are accepting a lot of mission and now we are in a rescue mission in the middle of the Atlantic ocean. We are looking for a missing siren. Archer already told us, he will not be the one who saves her if she is in trouble because "one crazy siren running after him is enough!". We love to tease him about that. Emily is with us but she got seasickness and Tom went back with her. It's not a difficult mission anyway.

"So you're quite peaceful for a wolf in the middle of the ocean." I comment on Asher.

"I'm not scared of the water even if you need to be careful with its creatures and their weirds habits." He replies making me smile. He got really shocked by those sirens.

"Have you already meet your mate?" I ask him. When we start to speak about that topic both Lana and he always avoid the subject. But I'm curious and I want to know so why not ask the question directly.

He sighs: " It's complicated."

"Okay, do you want to talk about it?" I ask him.

"There is not a lot to say... She doesn't want me but she doesn't want to reject me either. I'm not enough for her apparently." He explains sadness in his eyes.

"I'm sorry. She is stupid in this case. Why don't you reject her?"

"Because she's my mate. I love her."

"If I can help, just let me know. I can order her to accept you."

"But not to love me. And I want her love."

"You are a great guy! She will realize that soon, you will see." I tell him.

"I hope you're right." He says in hope.

"What about Lana?" I ask.

"She is hiding her real smell. I don't know why she is scare of her mate but she doesn't want him to find her." He replies and I nod. I don't what happened to her but I know she has a rough past.

"What are you going to do about Noah? Are you really looking for another mate while you know he's your true soulmate?" He asks and I have to answer as he answers my questions.

"I don't know if I can forgive him... But I also know I don't want another mate. Right now, I just want to enjoy myself and forget everything."

"You can forgive him you know. Nobody will judge you if you give him a chance. I know I will forgive her, my mate I mean, if tomorrow she tells me she wants to give us a chance."

"We will see... Tom thinks I should give him a chance too. He said nothing is better than to be with your mate, but he is still in his honeymoon mood. For now, I just want to kill Noah and his puppy eyes every time I see him." I say.

He laughs:" You know love and hate are really close feeling. Keep like that and soon you will fall in love with him."

"We will see about that."

Suddenly the boat shakes unnaturally and strongly as we both fall.

"What the hell?" I scream.

"We are under attack! The boat has leaks and is sinking. We need to get out of here!" Lana screams.

As we run on the vessel desk, I can see we're surrendered by sirens.

"What are you doing here?" The sirens' leader asks.

"We are looking for a siren called Zora. She is missing and her family is worried. We just want to make sure she is fine." I explain. I can see Lana using her magic to keep the ship floating.

"Zora is my mate and she is fine. In our tribal, we're taking what's ours. When I heard the call of my mate, I followed it and I knew this was the one for me so I took her with me." Another male siren says.

"In other terms you kidnap her!" Asher says.

"She is mine! I can do as I want with her!" The male replies.

"If we can see by ourselves that she is fine, we will leave." I tell them.

"No!"

"No?" I ask surprised.

"All our males don't have a mate and I can feel two powerful females for them here. You're intruders in our territory so we can dispose of you as we want."

I see Lana losing her color and Asher taking a defensive position in front of her. I need to ask him why he's so protective over her when she's not his luna and he's not a gamma yet. I laugh.

"Do you know what I am? I can't be claimed." I reply.

"You don't need to be claimed to serve our males' sexual needs." He says sure of himself.

"That will not happen!" I say and they launch their attack.

Before anything can happen, tornados appear around us. Noah is here, I don't see him but I can fell him.

"Do you think it wise to claim another male's mate?" He says sending all the sirens flying away. He looks pissed, like really really pissed. In his furious state, he sends everything away and the sirens don't stand a chance. I walk toward him and touch his shoulder to try to calm him, we are here in peace.

He looks at me and says: "Are you okay, little mine?"

His voice seems deeper. "I'm fine. You can calm down." I reply.

When I study his face something looks different about him, then I realize it's because it's not him but his wolf.

"I felt you were in danger, so I came." He explains.

"Thank you! But we are here to help not to kill so can you calm down for me, please?" I'm sweet as his wolf is in control.

He nods so I ask him:" Can you help me to find a siren called Zora. I just need to be sure she is alright." I show him her picture on my phone.

He nods again and closes his eyes, a few seconds later a siren appears in the boat. She looks surprised and scared. I kneel in front of her.

"Hi, I'm Selina. Are you Zora?"

"Hi, y-yes." She replies.

"Your parents send me because they are worried about you. Do you want me to bring you back to them?"

She shakes her head: " No, I'm happy with him. I disagree with their way to take their mate and I want to see my parents again but I love him and leaving him now will be betraying him. Can you give a message to my parents?"

"Sure! I can even do a video." I say taking out my phone.

Once the video is done, she leaves the boat to join her mate. Noah is behind me all the time, shielding me.

"Are you done?" He asks me. I nod and suddenly the boat is in the middle of a small port. We are in his territory.

"I'm safe now. We are all safe. You can give back the control to Noah. " I tell him.

He nods but I ask: "Wait! How did you know I was in trouble?" I mean I was not, not really... I think.

"Our bond. It's not close anymore so I can feel when you're in trouble. I can even find you easily now." He explains.

Does that mean I’m letting it open? Of course not! Why would I?

"One last thing little mine. Enjoy your freedom until it lasts but not too much. You're mine and I don't give up on what's mine. I can't wait until you bear my mark and I can show all those assholes that think they have a chance with you that you're mine and mine only!" Possessiveness clear in his voice.

Suddenly his eyes change and he groans hiding his face in his hands.

"I'm sorry for my wolf. I should go before making a bigger fool of myself." Noah says before disappearing.

"Well... That was hot!" Lana comments.

Indeed, it was hot but I will not let them know that or I will be doomed as they will push me in his arms. And there is no us. It’s too dangerous
