Chapter 181

Chapter Sixity–Two: Alpha Francis Black

Kiara’s POV:

With a final squeeze of my hands and a shared nod, the grand doors swung open, revealing a breathtaking spectacle beyond anything I had ever witnessed. The ballroom was a sea of vibrant colours, ornate chandeliers throwing a shower of glittering light onto the gleaming marble floor, painting a scene straight out of a fairytale.

As we made our grand entrance, a hush fell over the crowd. The murmurs died down, replaced by awestruck silence as hundreds of eyes turned to us. The magnitude of the moment washed over me in a tide of exhilaration and nerves.

Bathed in the radiant glow of the chandeliers, we descended the grand staircase, our entrance marking the beginning of the evening. Kayden’s grip on my hand was comforting, a solid presence grounding me. amidst the whirlpool of emotions threatening to overwhelm me. Beside me, Jayden’s hand was a warm, reassuring pressure at the small of my back, guiding through the crowd.

The crowd parted like the sea, making way for us as we strode toward the center of the dance floor. Their eyes, filled with respect and

curiosity, followed us, their whispers echoing around the room. My heart pounded in my chest, its rhythm echoing the tempo of our footsteps. Each stride we took was a testament to our strength, our unity.

Once we reached the center, the music began to play, a soft melody echoing throughout the grand ballroom. As the first strains of the song filled the air, I felt my nerves slowly fade away, replaced by a sense of calm and purpose. This was my moment, our moment.

With a graceful twirl, Kayden led me into the dance, our bodies moving in harmony with the rhythm. His gaze never left mine, his eyes filled with warmth and love. His grip was firm yet gentle, guiding me through the dance with effortless grace.

Beside us, Jayden danced with equal elegance, his every move a testament to his strength and command. His hands were warm and steady, guiding me through the steps with a confidence that was infectious.

As we danced, the crowd watched in awe, their eyes reflecting a mixture of admiration and respect. We were their leaders, their Luna Queen and Alpha Kings, and this dance was our first act of unity, a symbol of our shared rule.

After the dance, the formal introductions began. One by one, the Alphas and Betas from every corner of our kingdom and beyond came forth to greet us. They bore their necks to me, a gesture of respect acknowledging my status as their Luna Queen. I met each of them with a nod, accepting their respects gracefully.

of my reverie.

I turned to see a man in his early fifties standing before us, his imposing figure radiating an aura of dominance. “Black‘ this was Aiden’s father. I had never met him or spoken to him before, but I knew how Aiden adored and looked up to his father. Aoden’s thought made. me look around the ballroom. Since my birthday I haven’t seen him. After everything that went down, I never had the chance to talk to him. I knew he had feelings for me, but that didn’t mean I was going to throw away years of friendship. I just wanted him to apologize. I doubt we would go back to how we were, but I didn’t want to lose him. completely.

Alpha Francis’s hair was dark, just like his son’s, speckled with gray. His eyes were a sharp, piercing blue, their gaze cold and calculating.

The moment a shiver ran down my spine, something about him setting off alarm bells in my mind. But I brushed it off, attributing it to my nervous excitement. After all, this was Aiden’s father, a man known for his stern demeanour.

“Alpha Black,” I greeted, offering him a small smile.

His gaze flickered over me, lingering for a moment longer than necessary. “Queen Kiara,” he said, his voice deep and resonant, “You look very much like your mother.”

His comment caught me off guard. He was the first one to remark on my resemblance to my mother, Luna Clarise. I thanked him, accepting his compliment graciously. But as he retreated into the crowd, I

noticed him watching me, his gaze unblinking. It felt weird, and a sense of uncase settled in my stomach. The way he was observing me made me uncomfortable, but I shook off the feeling, focusing on the celebration.

The rest of the evening passed in a blur of greetings, dances, and endless toasts to our reign. As the night drew to a close, I was left with a feeling of accomplishment. The gathering had been a grand success, marking the beginning of our shared rule.

But as I turned to share a toast with my mates, my gaze landed on Alpha Black. His eyes were on me again, a strange glint in his gaze that made my skin crawl. I felt a chill run down my spine, an instinctive warning ringing in my head. Something about him was off, and I couldn’t shake the feeling. But before I could delve deeper into the feeling, my attention was drawn back to the celebration.

Kayden gave my hand a small squeeze. With a shared glance between him, Jayden, and me, he gently raised our joined hands, capturing everyone’s attention. An anticipatory hush swept over the ballroom, with only the occasional clink of a glass or a soft rustle of fabric breaking the silence.

“Ladies and Gentlemen, esteemed Alphas and Betas, respected guests,” Kayden began.

His voice resonating throughout the vast room. His gaze washed over the crowd before settling on me. His sapphire eyes sparkled with unspoken love, a raw affection that left me breathless.

“Tonight, we want to share our story with you. It’s a story of patience,

of its existence.”

His words hung in the air, a tale waiting to be unravelled. The crowd watched in rapt silence, their gazes shifting between us as Kayden

continued.

“When we were mere boys, barely understanding the complexities of life, we were told of our destined mate. We didn’t quite grasp the depth of the prophecy then, yet we were aware of the gravity of what it

meant.”

Jayden picked up from where Kayden had left off, his voice as compelling as his brother’s.

“Through the years, we grew, accepting our fate, knowing that one day we would meet our other half. We were told nothing about when, how, or where we would find her. Our only guide was faith–the faith we placed in the Moon Goddess’s decree.”

“And so, we waited,” Kayden interjected, his voice heavy with

emotion.

“We held onto the promise of a love so deep. It would eclipse all darkness, shine brighter than the most radiant sun.”

“And then, one day, she was there,” Jayden continued, his gaze turning soft as he looked at me.

“She won the scholarship; she earned her place amongst the warriors, and she impressed us with her brilliance. She was a force of her own, needing no one to validate her worth. Our interventions became redundant: she was always destined to be here.”

“Every moment with her felt as though a missing piece of our souls had found its way back to us,” Kayden confessed, his voice laced with a tender vulnerability.

“And when we finally discovered she was the one, our Luna Queen, it wasn’t a shock, but rather, a sweet revelation of what our hearts had already known.”

“Finding her wasn’t just about locating our fated mate but about meeting a woman of unparalleled strength, indomitable spirit, and captivating beauty,” Jayden said, his gaze gleaming with undeniable. pride. “A woman who stands with us challenges us and pushes us to be better.”

“Kiara is the embodiment of every dream we ever had about our mate,” Kayden added, causing chuckles to ripple through the crowd.

“Except for the fact that she is notoriously stubborn and has an uncanny ability to worry us sick. Oh, and did I mention she throws pillows when she’s angry?”

Laughter erupted across the ballroom. I felt my ch*eks turn warm, but Kayden winked at me, his playful grin infectious.

“And let’s not forget her inexplicable obsession with books,” Jayden

jumped in, his smirk matching his brother’s. “Honestly, we were scared for a while that she would choose books over us!”

More laughter filled the room, the crowd evidently enjoying our shared banter. Yet, amidst all the light–hearted jesting, my mates‘ profound love and admiration for me shone brighter than ever.

“The truth is.” Kayden said after the laughter had subsided, “Kiara, with her kindness, her brilliance, her courage, and yes, even her pillow–throwing tantrums, has won our hearts like no one else ever could. She’s not just our queen. She’s our partner, our equal, our mate.”

“Our love for Kiara is the kind that comes once in a lifetime,” Jayden added, his voice warm.

“We waited for her, we hoped for her, and now that she’s here with us, we feel complete. She has filled our lives with such joy and love that we find ourselves continuously falling for her, over and over again.”

As their heartfelt words resonated throughout the grand ballroom, they were met with thunderous applause and heartfelt cheers. The applause wasn’t just for us but for the journey we had embarked upon, the love. we shared, and the unity we now represented. Every eye in the room sparkled with respect and admiration, some with a hint of envy, but mostly, the room was filled with love, laughter, and a sense of camaraderie.

But as I glanced around, my gaze fell on Alpha Francis Black. He was clapping along with everyone else, a polite smile on his lips. But there was an unmistakable glint in his eyes, a curiosity, a sharp intrigue that wasn’t present earlier. There was something else too, a shadow, a

flicker of anger? Discontent? I couldn’t put my finger on it, but it certainly was odd. I quickly dismissed it, convincing myself it was likely due to the usual political dynamics of such events.

Out of the corner of my eye, I spotted Aiden standing in the periphery. Our eyes met, and the look on his face caught me off guard. He wasn’t clapping or celebrating. His expression was taut, the usual warmth in his eyes replaced with a blend of pain, anger, and heartbreaking sadness. Our shared history flashed before my eyes the laughter, the shared secrets, the friendship that had withstood the test of time, and the recent changes that had strained it.

–

Our moment of connection was brief. He nodded curtly, a silent acknowledgment, then turned and vanished into the crowd, leaving me staring at the spot where he had stood, a bitter mix of regret and sorrow settling in my heart.

But as the night wore on, I brushed those feelings aside, focusing on the love that surrounded me. As I leaned into Kayden and Jayden, their love and reassurance filled me with a newfound determination. Our bond was unbreakable, and our journey was only just beginning. But whatever came our way, I knew we would face it head–on, united by at love that was once in a lifetime.
