Chapter 157

Chapter 157

Quickly rushing back to the room, I changed into a white sundress and found a matching pair of sandals, I did my make and hair as fast as possible. Then meeting the twins in the castle garden, slightly breathless, earning me a chuckle and tweak on the nose.

What followed was a magical day, starting with a horseback ride. through the castle’s lush green forests, accompanied by the sound of the birds and the gentle whisper of the wind. I laughed freely, caught up in the moment, my worries momentarily forgotten. Their ease, warmth, and genuine concern touched my heart. We enjoyed a picnic. lunch under a towering oak tree, indulging in delightful food and light- hearted conversation. They shared funny stories of their childhood and their duties as kings, prompting laughter and occasional eye rolls.

As the sun began to set, they led me to a hidden meadow, home to a stunning waterfall cascading down into a pristine pool. The setting sun painted the sky with hues of red, orange, and purple, reflecting off the waterfall, creating a spectacle of colour and light. The sight was breathtakingly beautiful. I was broken out of my stupor when I heard Kayden clear his throat

“Kiara, we brought you here to tell you something important,” Kayden started, turning to face me.

Jayden echoed his serious expression.

Was this it?

Would they finally clear what was happening between us?

Would they tell me if we were mates or not?

Caught in the magic of the moment, I couldn’t help but hope that this was the day I would get answers, the day they would finally admit to

our connection. I felt a whirlwind of emotions within me –

anticipation, apprehension, hope, and fear. But, regardless of what they had to say, I was ready.

“The thing we want to tell you…” Kayden started, his blue eyes gazing intently at me.

Beside him, Jayden shared the same earnest look, both of them holding my undivided attention.

“Is that we care for you deeply, Kiara,” Jayden finished for Kayden.

His amber eyes shimmering in the dimming sunlight. My heart. thudded in my chest as I processed their words. I swallowed hard, the air around us becoming heavy with anticipation. I felt like I was walking on a tightrope, balancing between the reality I knew and the truth that was about to unfold.

“Are we….” I hesitated, my voice barely above a whisper, “…are we mates?” I whispered.

Their eyes held mine, their expressions unreadable. For a moment, silence prevailed, the only sound being the rhythmic cascading of the waterfall and our synchronized breathing. Then, Kayden let out a soft sigh, his gaze softening.

“We can’t tell you that now, Kiara,” he said, his voice gentle yet firm.

“Yeah, we just need you to wait a little longer,” Jayden added, a hint of apology in his voice.

“There are things you need to understand first. Things you need to see.” Said Kayden.

Their words hung in the air, a suspended revelation that left me with

more questions than answers. Wait? Understand? See? What were they talking about?

“Wait for what? What do I need to see?” I found myself asking.

My heart aching with a confusing mix of disappointment and curiosity. But they just exchanged a look between them, their faces revealing nothing.

“All in good time, little one,” Kayden replied cryptically.

“We promise it’s for the best,” Jayden assured, reaching out to give my

hand a comforting squeeze.

The disappointment was palpable, but their presence was a soothing balm. Instead of staying in front of the waterfall any longer, they accompanied me back to my room, their silent support providing comfort. As we walked, our hands lightly brushed, sending warm tingles up my arm, a testament to the inexplicable connection I felt with them. They stood with me outside my bedroom door, their towering figures framed by the soft glow of the corridor lamps. With his deep blue eyes, Kayden was the first to break the silence.

“We know it’s hard, Kiara. We just ask for your patience.” He said.

Jayden echoed his sentiment, his warm hand engulfing mine.

“We won’t let you down. Trust us.” Said Jayden.

A nod was all I could muster, the lump in my throat making it difficult to speak. One by one, they bent down, pressing a gentle, comforting

kiss on my forehead. It was a sweet gesture, one that was so very them.

“Goodnight, Kiara,” they said in unison, their voices a soothing whisper in the quiet corridor.

As they turned to leave, I could see the burden of secrets they carried reflected in their stance, their broad shoulders bearing the weight.

“Goodnight, Jayden, Kayden,” I managed to call out as they disappeared down the corridor, their footsteps echoing in the silent. night.

In the solitude of my room, their words reverberated, igniting a whirlwind of thoughts. Their vague answers, their mysterious demeanour, it all added up to an enigma that was as compelling as it was confounding. But amidst the confusion and curiosity, I knew one thing for sure their affection for me was genuine, their concern real. And for now, that was enough. With a heart full of hope, and a mind buzzing with questions, I closed my eyes, their parting words echoing
