Chapter Forty–Eight: Date Night
Kiara, at the age of Seventeen
Ten Days before her eighteenth birthday!
Kiara POV:
It had been four days since I had been here. After four days of getting settled back into the castle, it honestly felt like I had never left. It felt so right to be here; it was as if I was home. Which was weird considering Crescent Haven was home, but I had this weird calling towards this place, more like toward the owners of this place. I closed my eyes and remembered the wolf run we had all been on four days. ago. It was like I was nine years old all over again when I first rode off Kayden and Jayden’s wolves‘ backs. They were as majestic, if not more. than I remembered.
Being the only one who couldn’t shift as of yet, I was forced to ride on their backs. And, despite them looking and feeling as amazing as they were, just like the first time I rode on their back, it was nothing like this time. The moment I touched Jayden’s wolf to get on his back, it was as if a short circuit had gone off. Sparks went from my hand up to my arm, and they stayed there as I held onto him during the run. The same had happened when I switched over to Kayden’s wolf. It was overwhelming, amazing, scary, everything all wrapped into one. As I rode their wolves‘ backs with each passing minute, I was convinced that I was their mate. But if so, why weren’t they saying anything?
I had tried asking Rex, JJ, Beta Tim and Gamma Chris, but they all brushed the thought off, saying the same thing that I’ll find out in a few. days.

Ugh!
Why were they of difficult?
I didn’t expect them to confirm my theory or not. I just wanted some insight, but they denied giving any remark on the topic. I could always have gone to the sources themselves, but something held me back. Maybe the thought of being wrong and making things awkward, or maybe I was right and scared to ask the question if that was the case: why did they never tell me and let me leave two years ago? Hell, I would probably ask all about those she–wolves they paraded around, to be honest, if that was the case, but then again, I didn’t know anything for sure, which was why I was sitting here in my room, racking my brain to come up with something and build up the courage to confront Kayden and Jayden.
They had been called away to handle a dispute in the earth’s realm, so their absence gave me a lot of time to think about everything and analyze everything that had happened between us over the years. I wanted to remember something that maybe somewhere along the years, something happened, and I hadn’t picked up on it. But, all I could
remember was the night of the warrior scholar battle where they tended to me. Before that, they were hardly ever seen. Not to mention I had. spotted them with several she–wolves over the years.
I sighed!
Deciding that I was overthinking things, I got up from my window seat and went into the washroom to prepare for the day ahead. After a refreshing shower, I changed into my regular attire, a pair of black jeans, a royal blue top, and matching sneakers. I pondered what the day might bring as I glanced at my reflection. With Jayden and Kayden expected to return from their duties, a slight apprehension and excitement stirred within me. Just as I finished brushing my hair, a knock echoed on my door.
“Come in,” I called, setting the brush aside.
The door opened to reveal a slightly flustered maid.
“Ah, qu.. ahm Kiara, King Kayden and King Jayden have returned and wish to see you in the castle garden.” Said the maid.
My heart jumped at the news. Squashing down the bubble of anxiety. that was steadily growing inside me, I nodded,
“Thank you. I’ll be there shortly.” I said, giving the maid a small smile.
As I walked towards the castle gardens, the scent of fresh roses wafted through the air, calming my nerves. It was a beautiful day, with golden sunlight filtering through the vibrant blooms, casting dappled patterns. on the cobblestone path. Kayden and Jayden stood by a marble fountain, their strong, confident statures compelling and commanding attention. Their musk scent wafted through my nose, making butterflies stir in my tummy. As they turned to face me, a hint of surprise. coloured their expressions, followed by gentle smiles that softened their fierce, regal facades.

“Kiara, you look beautiful.” Kayden greeted, his voice holding a warm
undertone.
The compliment was so sincere and unexpected; well, nothing was unexpected with them nowadays. However, it made my cheeks flush. Before I could respond, Jayden chimed in,
“We were wondering if you would accompany us on a date today. There’s something special we’d like to show you.” Asked Jayden.
Taken aback, I took a moment to find my voice,
“A date? With both of you?” I shuttered out.
They nodded, their eyes twinkling with what seemed like amusement and anticipation. They wanted to go on a date with me? Why? What? And how? I had so many questions, but they denied coming out. I took a deep breath and trusted my instincts, and agreed,
“Okay, let’s go,” I said.
