Chapter 132
Chapter 132.
Chapter Thirty–Three: Warrior Scholarship Try–Outs
Kiara, at the age of twelve
Kiara POV:
I took deep breaths as I waited in the tent for the contestants. It was the day of the trials for the warrior scholarship, and to say I was pooping bricks was an understatement: I was terrified. I wanted nothing more than to do good in this and be one of the thirteen students. The competition was tough; out of the thirteen seats, only two were given to she–wolves, and the rest were males. Rex, JJ and four more boys had already been awarded the scholarship; therefore, the rest of the spots were determined on your results of the trials. I was a fact and numbers person, but I wasn’t sure about fighting.
Beta Tim and Gamma Chris had said I was amazing. Over the years here, they had been training me, getting me ready for the trails, but I was scared regardless of all that time spent training. What if I failed? What if someone else was chosen other than me? The thought of being unable to do this scholarship alongside JJ and Rex hurt. It had been three years since I and JJ had gotten a chance to spend time together properly. And with the prospect of him and Cathy being mates, I and JJ
would centully not be as dose I wanted to savour the little time we would be as best friends. Eventually, my mate would come along. and were Rex I wouldnt be able to see as much then Despite allins ever te vers here at the castle, whenever I and II talked, it was bout how we would do the warrior scholarship together
There are you lost. Kurr Theard a voice behind me. breaking me our of my thoughts
I med around and saw Beta Tim and gamma Chris standing at the
ent entrance with sales on their faces I sighed and turned back avund wenging my hand together
I heard both of them walk towards me and eventually crouch down to my level Beta Tim grabbed my chin gently, making me look up at him and Gamma Chris
“What’s wrong“” Asked Beta Tim
I sighed and looked the other way
“What is it. Kiki? You know we hate seeing the little queen sad.” Said Gemma Chris, grabbing my chin once again and making me look at them
I blinked away my tears and looked down.
“What if I don’t make it? What if I mess up? All that time you two put into training me would go to waste. As much as I want to do this for JJ
and Rex, it feels like it’s wrong. I’m a facts and books person. I’m no fighter…” Before I could finish Beta Tim cut me off.
“Listen and listen well, our little queen. You will not fail. Chris and I have seen your dedication and time in training over the three years, Kiara! You’ll pass, and you’ll be one of the two girls that will be selected for the scholarship. Have Faith in yourself!.” Said, Beta Tim
“This isn’t the Kiara, we know! The Kiara we know and have taught was always ready to conquer her fears. She never believed something was impossible. Tim and I have Faith in you. Jacob and Rex have Faith in you, even King Kayden and King Jayden.” Said, Gamma Chris
I looked at Gamma Chris and Beta Tim with tears in my eyes. I could see the honesty in their eyes. But despite whatever they had all said about me, JJ, Rex and them, all I could pick up was how King Kayden. and King Jayden also believed I could do this. After they had apologized to me yesterday and promised to be there to watch the trails, I couldn’t stop thinking about it. I knew my fear of disappointing them weighed the most down on me.
“Really? Do King Kayden and King Jayden really think I can do this?” I asked in a meek tone.
I knew my cheeks were red. Whenever I thought of them both, I always became shy.
I heard Beta Tim and Gamma Chris laugh. I looked in their direction. They were shaking their heads while chuckling at me; they ruffled my hair, which had me swat their hands and give them the stink eye. It took auntie Meg a solid ten minutes to make my hair. I was still a little
obsessed with princess hairstyles. Not that I would ever admit that, but when auntie Megan offered, I couldn’t help but say yes.
“Yes, little queen. And to make it even better, we came to tell you that they are conducting the trials for the female candidates for the scholarship. Technically, it should be prince Rex, but since he is underage and has not been trained, he cannot conduct them, leaving the kings and us. We can’t conduct the trials since we have to finalize the students selected, which only leaves King Kayden and King Jayden. King Jayden and King Kayden believed it would be better to assess the she–wolves since they had more control of their strength than the warriors conducting the male wolves‘ trials.” Explained Beta
Tim.
For whatever reason, Beta Tim thought this would calm me down; he was utterly wrong. Now, I was more scared. I was supposed to take the trails with King Jayden and King Kayden. I was going to fail! Whenever I was around them, there was this haze that came over me, and I wanted to do nothing but talk and stare most of the time.
“Yeah, it was nice knowing you, Beta Tim and Gamma Chris,” I said
They both looked at me as if I had two heads.
“Little queen, what’s that supposed to mean? This is a good thing, they’ll go easy on you, and then you and the rest of the she–wolves will have a good chance to win over the judges.” Said, Beta Tim
Okay! Now I was mad; I crossed my arms over my chest and looked at
both of them.

“With all due respect I don’t want them going easy on me, and I don’t wanna be chosen based on favouritism. I wanted to be chosen because I was worthy of the spot and could become a warrior, and if King Kayden and King Jayden do that, then I’ll probably not talk to them.” I said
thought that Gamma Chris and Beta Tim would be apologetic, but instead, they both chuckled. which had me now looking at them as if they had two heads.
You’re crazy, Kiara! That is not what we meant. The kings are conducting the trials because they believe they would be better judges than the rest of us as they have more experience in training than all of us. They were not going to favouritse you; they might actually be tougher on you because they know how talented you are and how you deserve this scholarship.” Said. Beta Tim
“Kiara, we aren’t telling you this so we can scare you. We’re telling you this because we wanted you to know that a lot of people have faith in you, and you don’t need anyone’s help or favours because you’re capable of this yourself without anyone’s help, just like you did these past three years in the scholar’s scholarship.” Said Gamma Chris.
Before I could reply that I would try my best and make them proud. I heard my name called out outside, which had me turn towards the entrance where the warriors were standing to take me to the sparing grounds.
“Good luck, little queen, kick some bum and make us proud.” Whispered Gamma Chris.
Beta Tim gave him the stink eye and shook his head as he patted my head, wishing me good luck, following Gamma Chris out of the tent.
I took a deep breath and followed the warriors into the sparring ground, where I saw King Kayden and King Jayden standing in the middle, shirtless, arms over their chests with stoic king faces on display, looking at me. From the corner of my eyes, I saw the warriors, Gamma Chris, Beta Tim and the other participants. Rex and JJ were also close by, wishing me good luck and waving at me; I smiled in their direction and then looked towards King Kayden and King Jayden. stopping when I was two feet away from them and bowing.
“Rise.” King Kayden said.
“Kiara Middleton. You are the fourth of the four she–wolf candidates. that have applied for the warrior scholarship. All three of the other contenders have done their trails.” Said, King Jayden
“You will be tested on your speed, knowledge of battle combat and sparring skills. Based on your techniques, the judges and we will decide whether you will be one of the two candidates worthy of the scholarship. Is that clear?” Said, King Kayden
My heart was going crazy, and anxiety was rushing in me, but I tried my best not to show it. I didn’t look into the king’s eyes and nodded in agreement. I heard them hum.
“Very well, let’s begin.” I heard king Jayden say
