Chapter 5
Myra had never been kissed before.
It felt like someone had set fireworks off inside of her as he cupped her neck and pulled her closer to himself. It was purely animalistic the way she was feeling as she wrapped her arms around him. The kiss was fast and full of anger that she had no idea where it came from.
Elias pulled her closer, one hand on her cheek and the other around the back of her neck as he tilted her face up. She could feel his anger and passion through the kiss as he pulled on her bottom lip. A sound passed her lips and he smiled against her.
Myra was burning from within, wanting to explode into flames as he pulled her closer. Something was definitely wrong with her as her body warmed up. Elias’s hands travelled down and she wanted him to go further and further and to never stop.
He pulled away and she looked up at him.
“Your eyes..” he frowned at her as she looked up at breathlessly. He blinked a couple of times and shook his head at himself.
“One day you will be the death of me.” He whispered to her.
Instantly the rage disappeared inside of her. Myra blinked a couple of times. She had just kissed him when she said she didn’t want to be with him.
Elias tilted her face up again and leaned down to kiss her but Myra pulled away from him.
“I can’t.” She shook her head at him.
He stared at her with disbelief. “Of course you can’t. I’m the fucking bad guy.” He shook his head.
She watched him walk away. Myra rubbed her face.
What are you doing? Luna asked her confused.
I have no idea. She sighed.
She didn’t know what came over her,if it was jealousy or anger or nothing at all.
Myra let out a sigh as she looked around her. She was alone while everyone was eating inside. She couldn’t eat, that burning feeling inside of her was rising slowly and slowly.
What’s wrong with me? She questioned Luna.
I don’t know. Luna answered her.
Myra walked towards the pack house again. Did she want to go inside when everyone would stare at her? No. She turned away from the pack house and walked to the fighting area. It was a huge circle, just outside the pack house. A four foot wall circled around it, giving it its privacy yet the cool air would satisfy the fighters. She pushed past the black gate and walked inside. Myra closed the gate behind her and sat down against the wall. She rubbed her face hard.
What was she doing here? Myra had no idea what to do in life. She had been destined to marry Alpha Jackson and she could feel the connection with him deep inside of her. Myra had pushed the connection deep inside of her, blocking the mindlink she shared with him. She was to marry him and she did that, but what did her life want her to do now?
Myra thought about how she had planned her life from such a young age. She had left Alpha Jackson, did it mean she could go back to her plan?
Travel the world, make friends and to live her life. Myra wanted to do it, but there was a big part of her that was afraid. They would take her away and put her back in her nightmare of a life. Here, here she was protected by her soulmate. She knew deep down Elias would never let anyone hurt her.
“I’m sorry.” She heard his voice above the wall she was sat against. Myra tilted her head up to see him leaned on the wall and staring at her, covering her from the sun that was starting to shine brightly. “I shouldn’t have walked away.” Elias said to her.
“It’s okay.” She answered him as she smiled.
Myra watched him as he opened the gate and walked into the circle. He sat beside her and she smiled to herself a little.
A small part of her, the part that would light up with hope was happy. She had found her soulmate. Any wolf would be happy for this day yet the bigger part of her mind scared her.
They sat in silence, listening to their heartbeats. His hand was placed on the green grass inches away from hers. They didn’t touch, they didn’t say a word as the silence wrapped itself around them.
Can you be friends with him? Luna asked her. Can you see him walking past you every day,and only being his friend?
I’m not ready for anything else. Myra answered her.
Then ask him to accept you in the pack. Luna grinned at her and Myra smiled to herself.
She turned to look at Elias who was staring at her. “I’m sorry for earlier, for giving you mixed signals.” She apologised to him. “I want to live here, Elias. I want to have a life here.”
“You’re always welcome to stay here.” He told her and she shook her head at him.
“Would you accept me in this pack as a member? I would promise to protect it with my life. You can ask me anything and I will try to answer.” Myra knew she sounded desperate yet she did not care as she turned her body around and faced him. “There are people in this world that will want me,” Elias growled. “I want to stay here.”
“You’re hiding from someone.” He stated. Myra didn’t deny or agree to it as he continued. “When I saw you in the forest,I knew you were not a danger to me. Do you want me to accept you into the pack now?” He asked with a smile on his face.
Myra couldn’t help but frown. “Are you not going to ask me anything?” He was a Rogue Alpha. An Alpha that did not trust well she heard, but he would accept her into the pack immediately.
Elias chuckled. “I mean this with no disrespect to you but I do not see you as a danger to my pack. You are my mate, I would accept you into this pack because I am putting trust into you.”
She had never met a man that was so nice to her. Every male in her life wanted something off her or hated her. Elias was sat in front of her, a Rogue King to the world, a killer and a protector of his pack yet he would accept her into the pack without a second thought. You are my mate.
Myra nodded. “I would like that very much.” She smiled at him. He returned her smile as he held his hand out to her. She had never been accepted into a pack except when she was born,so Myra had no idea what to do.
“I’m going to need you to drink my blood.” Elias told her. She watched with eyes as he bit into his palm and blood dripped out. “You drink mine, I drink yours.” He said it simply as he held his blooded hand out to her.
“Do you promise to protect this pack? To put it before anything? It is the only thing I ask of my family.” he asked as she watched the blood drip onto the grass between them. It coated the grass red as he did not let himself heal his body.
Myra nodded at him. “I promise.” She vowed an unbreakable oath as he smirked at her. She held onto his hand and lifted it up to her lips. Elias stiffened, she could feel it as she licked the blood off his palm softly. Elias did not move as her tongue licked it slowly. His blood was sweet as she lowered his hand down.
Myra lifted her hand up to him. “Do you promise to protect me forever?” She asked him softly but her voice was stern. She wanted to know the truth.
Elias chuckled as he held her hand gentle. She could feel the sparks lighting up in her body slowly and slowly. He stared at her, his gaze full of unflinching honesty. He would always protect her, now that he had found her. Myra did it blink as he bit into her wrist gently. The sparks made her body burn with every drop of blood he took. A door slammed open in her mind screaming at her that her mate had accepted her. Myra could hear he voices of the other wolves in this pack and she shut it up as a knot formed in her stomach. What was happening to her?
She couldn’t remove her eyes from Elias as he licked her wrist clean. He pulled his head back and she could see some blood on his face. Myra reached out to it, oblivious to what she was doing when he grabbed a hold of her hand tightly. He pulled her hand closer to his face, and she cleaned the blood above his mouth with her finger. Elias leaned down and licked the blood from her hands.
A door slammed open in her mind and she smiled softly knowing it was Elias. She allowed the mindlink and didn’t close it.
She watched him.
I promised I wouldn’t pressure, so I won’t. He said to her softly in her mind, his voice swirling around in there, making her body heat up slowly and slowly.
You’re nice. She smiled at him.
Elias chuckled as she pulled her hand away from him. “I’m anything but nice.” He smirked at her.
She shrugged her shoulder knowing he had only been nice to her. Nothing more, nothing less.
“If you’re not nice, what are you then?”
Elias smirked, his golden eyes sparking,“I am-”
“Myra?” Brian shouted out her name.
Elias closed his eyes and let out a deep sigh as Myra stood up quickly. She saw Brian and the boys standing there with her plate of pancakes. Brian noticed her instantly and he grinned and waved at her.
“You didn’t eat so I brought your breakfast for you before Aunt Mary said no. Want to join us at the lake house? The others are getting ready.” He offered her. She smiled at him as Elias stood up.
Myra could see Brian gulping as he took a step back. “I can join you.” She said to him.
He stared at her and nodded. “Why don’t you get changed into some comfortable clothes and I’ll wait for you.” Brian smiled at her.
She nodded though she didn’t have any clothes. Myra turned to Elias and smiled at him. “Thank you.” She said to him.
Elias glanced at her in confusion as Myra walked away from him. It might not have been a big deal for Eliaa to accept his mate unto his pack but for Myra, it was the first time she had truly felt peace. The darkness inside of her was slowly being pushed away and she was feeling better. She didn’t let herself dive into the dark parts of her mind anymore.
“Can you swim?” Brian asked her as she walked closer towards him. He handed her the plate but she shook her head so he gave it to Ryan who took it inside.
“No I can’t.” She told him and he grinned as he ran a hand through his blonde hair.
Brian was much taller than her, about five inches taller. She had never made a friend in her life, yet here Brian was willing to be friends.
“I can ask my sister if she can give you a swimsuit if you want.” Brian offered her.
“You have a sister?” She asked stupidly.
Brian laughed and nodded. “Liv? Olivia? She’s my sister. She’s older than me and loves to rub it in my face but I love her.” He laughed with the boys. She smiled and nodded.
“Alpha, do you want to come with us?” Ryan asked as he walked out of the pack house.
Myra turned around to see Elias walking towards them. “No,you guys carry on. I’ll be in my office.” He answered them. Myra tried to catch his gaze but he didn’t look at her as he walked past them all and into the house.
“So you’re mated to the Alpha.” Brian whispered to her. The other boys circled around, trying to listen in.
“Are we not going to be friends?” She asked, confused. She felt the sadness try to push itself into her heart. She pushed it away.
Myra was tired of Alphas trying to ruin her life.
“No no no.” Brian quickly shook his head. “You’re my birthday twin,of course we’re going to be friends.” He laughed at her as she smiled softly.
“We can teach you how to swim.” Ryan grinned at her.
“I’m the best swimmer.” Kyle held his hand out to her. “I’ll teach you.” He said as she high fived him.
“I’ll go get something from Liv. You guys take her to the lake house.” Brian said quickly and she watched him run inside the pack house shouting his sister’s name.
“Come on my lady,” Kyle offered her an arm. “Let’s take you to Atlantica.” He winked at her as she wrapped her arm through his.
“Ariel?” Ryan asked him as Josh and Andy started to laugh. They jogged ahead to meet some of the other people leaving a house.
Kyle nodded as he glanced at Myra looking around the place. “Want us to give you a quick tour while we walk? We can feel you’ve been accepted into the pack.” He said and she smiled.
“That would be great.” She tried not to laugh as Ryan held her other arm. In between both boys she walked and looked around.
“That’s the pack library. Aunt Mary makes us read a book every week.” Kyle pointed to an ancient looking building. It was an average looking house with stairs leading up to it. “She wants everyone to speak better english but I think she wants to turn us into old men.”
Myra laughed as she thought about Kyle and Ryan with walking sticks. Their perfect bodies would have a little hunchback while they walked and groaned every step of the way at the age of 150. She tried not to laugh again as Kyle pointed to the mountains.
“We go up there to learn how to fight properly. There are wild animals up in those mountains. We don’t kill them but we do enough damage to make our wolves proud.” His explanation was purely animalistic and Myra wondered if it was his wolf talking as it grinned at the mountains.
“Have you been up there?” She asked them both.
“I have,” Kyle answered. “Ryan will be going in two nights. You can join him.” Kyler offered.
“Anyone’s allowed to go?” She asked, looking up at him confused.
“Usually the Alpha teaches them but you’ve got a guaranteed pass. You’re the Alpha’s mate. He will protect you and so will the others if you want the experience.” He shrugged his shoulders.
“Come with me. You’ll have so much fun.” Ryan grinned at her and she smiled and nodded.
Yes! We can shift. Luna said excitedly.
“That’s where we live.” Ryan pointed to the house they walked past. It was a decent small house with dead flowers on the front lawn. “I was supposed to clean the flowers.” He rubbed the back of his head as he shook his head at himself. “We bought that together when we left high school.”
“All of you?” Myra asked and Ryan nodded proudly as Kyle laughed at him.
“We had to beg our parents to let us live together though. We’ve been friends since the age of two. Plus my parents live two doors down.” Ryan pointed to another house identical to theirs but full of beautiful flowers.
“My mom taught me how to look after flowers but I grew bored of it.” Ryan laughed.
“He means he gets too distracted when he sees pretty girls.” Kyle rolled his eyes at him.
“If you want me to get distracted with you, Kyle, just pull your pants down.” Ryan blurted out at him with a smirk on his face.
Myra watched Kyle’s face turn a little red as his brown eyes glared at Ryan. “You little dickhead.” He tried to punch Ryqn who pulled his arm away from Myra and ran into the forest.
“I’m going to drown you in the water!” Kyle promised him a violent death.
“Drown me in something else!” Ryqn laughed at him as he ran away. Kyle growled.
“I’m going to kill him.” Kyle muttered to himself staring at the ground as he walked besides her.
“You shouldn’t kill him.” Myra tried not to laugh as she grabbed onto his arm and held it. “I think he might actually like you.” She pointed out.
“Let’s not go down that route.” Kyle muttered and Myra immediately shut up.
“Sorry.” She apologised as she pulled her hand away from his and followed him in silence.
Kyle was seething as she followed him through the forest. The houses disappeared but she could hear the laughter and the sound of water close by. The sun was glaring on their backs but the trees tried to create shade as she walked in the forest. The laughter got louder and louder as she heard someone running behind them. Myra turned around to see Brian jogging towards her with a black swimsuit in his hands.
“Liv said black is your colour.” He waved the suit at her as she smiled at him. He stood in front of her and grinned as he handed her to the swimsuit. “There’s a changing room in the lake house. Come on.” Brian said to her as he wrapped an arm around her shoulder and pulled her with him.
“Kyle! Wait up!” Brian called out to him. Kyle ignored him and walked away from them. “What’s wrong with him?” He asked Myra as he frowned.
“Ryan said something to him and I don’t think he liked it.” Myra answered him and brian groaned as he turned her to her left and walked towards the laughter.
Myra saw people jumping into the lake with their friends and laughing. A small wooden house was on the land and people ran in and out of it. There were at least 30 people here. She could see Ryan swimming away from Kyle who swam faster towards him. Andy and Josh were laughing at them.
“Ryan and his dirty mouth.” Brian shook his head as he noticed Kyle grab Ryan and try to drown him. Myra’s eyes widened as she took a step towards them.
“They’re mates. He won’t kill him.” Brian held her hand before she could run into the water stupidly.
“They’re mates?” She turned around to look at him confused.
People waved at Brian and she watched him wave back and answer their questions on whether he will get into the water or not, before he turned to her and nodded. “Kyle doesn’t want to accept the bond even though. He thinks they should remain friends and he doesn’t want the friendship to end.”
She turned to watch them. Kyle was rolling his eyes at Ryan who laughed at him and whispered something to him softly. Andy and Josh started to chant kiss kiss kiss loudly but Kyle growled at them and swam away, leaving Ryan alone. Ryan stared at Kyle. Myra could see the longing looks in his eyes even though he tried to laugh it off. He saw her staring and he waved at her, telling her to come into the water.
“You promise that I won’t drown?” She turned to look at Brian who had already changed into his shorts.
“I promise we won’t let you drown.” He promised to her and she nodded as he pointed to the house. “First door on your right is for the ladies.”
Myra walked towards the house, just as the door opened up. A man whistled at her as he leaned against the door. “Hello there woman in black.” He winked at her.
“Hi.” Myra replied back. “Could you please move?” She asked him politely as he wiggled his eyebrows at her and ran a hand through his blond hair. The boy was shirtless and she made sure she didn’t look down at his body.
“Could you please give me your number?” He mimicked her voice.
“Jordan fuck off.” Brian called out to him. “Kyle will kick the shit out of you.” He warned.
Immediately the boy called Jordan back away from the door and walked away from her. Myra smiled to herself wondering if Kyle was the strongest his age.
She walked into the house. There were five fridges against a wall and three doors in the empty room. Myra could smell the alcohol through the fridges. She walked towards the door Brian had told her but it was locked.
“I’ll be out in a se..” a girl moaned loudly.
Myra’s eyes widened as she didn’t know where to look. Quietly, she headed to the other door which was opened. It was a simple box as she walked in and closed the door behind herself. There was no lock on the door. Myra closed the brown door to herself and put her food under it to hold it closed. She heard a banging from the other box where something was happening.
“You’re so fucking sexy.” She heard a man growl from the box.
Myra shut out the voices quickly as she pulled her shirt out of her jeans. She balanced on one leg as she pulled the shirt completely off her body, leaving her in a black bra. Maybe black was her colour.
“You done?” She heard Brian’s voice knocking on the other door. He received a moan as an answer.
“Fuck sake, Lucy.” He groaned at the woman he probably knew. “Myra?” He knocked on the other door.
“Can you hold the door?.” Mhra asked him as she unhooked her bra.
“Alright.” He answered her and she saw him reach his arm up and hold the door shut. Myra quickly stripped down in seconds. She heard the woman Lucy apologise to Brian as they quickly walked out of the house. Myra pulled the swimsuit on and zipped it up from the back as she pushed her arms in through the straps. There wasn’t a mirror in the room to tell her how she looked but the swimsuit fit perfectly.
“You can open it now.” She told brian as she bent down to pick all her clothes up. She hid her bra in her shirt as he opened the door.
“You look good. Let’s go teach you how to swim.” He grinned at her as she picked up her white shoes and followed him out of the house.
Myra felt a little insecure as she stepped out in the light, but no one stopped to look at her as Brian guided her to a tree where the others were waiting. She held the clothes close to her body as she looked around at everyone having fun.
“Leave your clothes here with ours.” Josh said to her as he pointed to their clothes pile.
Myra put her clothes on top of theirs slowly. She wrapped her arms around herself as they grinned at her.
“Come on.” Ryan grabbed her hand and pulled her on the clear path to the water.
“I don’t know how to swim.” She said to him tugging on his hand as he dragged her closer to the water.
“We’re going to show you.” Brian said behind her as she felt the water on her legs.
Myra froze. Ryan tried to pull her deeper into the water but she dug her feet into the ground and didn’t move as she pulled her hand away from him. The others jumped into the water making big splashes, and urged her to come further. They wouldn’t let her drown.
They were not the people from her school that made her drown. Where she was screaming and kicking the water to try and swim up. She had read so many books at such a young age about learning how to swim but when it came to that moment, she had been useless. She had drowned, lost all conscious of her body. She didn’t know what had happened but Alpha Tom was above her on the ground trying to pump se air into her lungs. They burned. Everything had burned and she was in so much pain.
She had never learnt how to swim in her life after that.
“You’re going to be fine.” Kyle said to her as he stretched his hand out to her. “Just have fun. You’re young, Myra. Don’t worry about anything.” He smiled at her softly as if he could see the fear in her heart.
She didn’t feel young. She felt old, too old for this world that wanted to harm her. She would cry herself to sleep wishing every night for a day to be normal.
Her wish had come true. She had a chance to be normal with people her age, but she didn’t know what normal was.
“Come on.” Brian swam towards her. He wrapped an arm around her waist and pulled her slowly into the water. She held onto Kyle’s hand tightly, as the water covered her body. She was so deep into the water, it was up to her shoulders. They all swam around her slowly as Kyle and brian stood with her in the water. Floated.
“Just kick your legs out and your hands at the same time.” Kyle said to her.
Myra felt hands on her legs and she let out a scream. Brian winced letting go of her and Myra flapped her hands on the water as she felt herself going down. Fear pounded in her heart as she tried to keep herself up, holding onto Kyle’s hand tightly.
She felt hands on her legs again and someone pushing her up above the water. Ryan poked his head out of the water, a hand on around her body as she held onto Kyle’s hand tightly. She wrapped her arms around Kyle’s neck, closing her eyes tightly.
“I want to get out. Please.” She pleaded to them. Her heart was pounding, the cold air was nipping at her skin as she didnt hear a sound. She could feel everyone’s eyes on her but she didn’t open her own eyes.
"Please.” She whispered to them.
“I was trying to show you how to move your legs..” Ryan mumbled softly as she felt herself being pulled in the water by Kyle. He had an arm wrapped around her body as he pulled her to shore.
“Maybe next time.” He said to her as she opened her eyes once she felt land under her feet. She pulled away from Kyle as she fisted her shaking hands besides herself. Myra nodded.
“I’m so sorry, Myra.” Ryan apologised to her.
“It’s okay.” She said to him as she walked towards her clothes.
She could never be normal.
