Still Dominic's POV

“I'm not you enemy Lorenzo, I'm just trying to save our people from the real enemy. You've seen what he can do, you know how dangerous he is, I need you by my side if 'm ever going to defeat him." I explained to Lorenzo as the car drove us back to his mansion. He looks quiet, too quiet if you ask me. I wonder what is going through his mind right now.

“I know about you, Dominic. And I know about king Ashford as well. Yeah, I know how dangerous he is, I know how he operates because I have witnessed it before and I have experienced the same agony you are going through right now. He wanted a woman in my life just to get me too distracted to notice that he is trying to buy out my boys. We know all about Ashford and his devious ways, but that is not why you are here and that is certainly not the question that I want to ask you. I is obvious that you are stronger than I am, you have the numbers and the strength to defeat this guy, so why exactly have you been looking for me, why do you need me to risk my life and the lives of my boys to fight for you and your people, and what makes you think that I have a chance to win this war. Don't blame me for asking man, but 'm only human, and here yo are pitching me up against lycans and werewolves, what chance do I have against them?" he asked me curiously, making me chuckle softly. Its true when they said that he is wise and smart. He has already thought about every possible way to win this war and he knows that there is absolutely nothing he can win against lycans and werewolves. But he doesn't have all th facts yet, there is a lot that he doesn’t know about this war,

“Actually, from the last information we got from one of my best friends, I don't think this war is going to be fought by lycans and werewolves, this war would be fought by humans because the werewolves and lycans would be too weak to defend themselves.” I told him. He tilted his head sideways, gazing at me curiously. It's obvious that he doesn't understand what I'm talking about, so I had to explain it all to him about the powder that Alpha Robert had gotten from the rogue Alphas before he got poisoned and killed.

“The powder works on both werewolves and lycans. It has been used on some of my Alphas at the Alphas lodge and it had weakened them all, causing them to be too weak to defend themselves. It made it easier for the rogue Alphas to kidnap the other Alphas that are loyal to me. I lost a friend that day, he was a great Alpha, but he was too weak to defend himself. Wher king Ashford released the powder, the werewolves and lycans would not be able to lift a muzzle, we would have no choice but to depend on you and your boys for support. That is why king Ashford needs the humans, his powder would affect him as well, that is why he also needs the humans to help him win, although, I'm sure he has some other plans with the humans you can never be sure when it involves a guy like King Ashford” I cautioned him firmly, earning a scoff from him. He seems. displeased, or should I say unhappy even.

“All I can tell you is that you are an incompetent king that cannot fight for his own people. And it seems you keep getting sof every day, or should I say stupid?” he let out mockingly as he stepped down from the car and shut the door so hard that the car shook with the force of the hit. I did not even realize that the car has stopped, I was too engrossed in our conversation, and I thought he was engrossed in our conversation as well, but he seems to have other opinions which I am sure are relate to this war, although I'm not sure why he is so pissed at me. I got down from the car and stormed into the house, trying to catch up with him. I know this is his house, a d I also know that we need him on board if we ever hope to win this war, but I won't let him speak to me that way. I won't take this from him, not now, not ever.

“What the hell are you going on about, what are you talking about?" I asked him when I finally caught up with him.

“I've been watching you since you arrived, Dominic Rayleigh. You are not only reckless, but you are careless as well. You thin every problem is solved with your fist and claws, you don't think things through, and even when you do think, you don't analyze the situation to come up with the best possible solution. You just make decisions based on what you think you know, but you fail to analyze every single detail in every situation. You fail to realize that the answers are in the details, so it's either you are too distracted to focus on this war, or you are too stupid to see that you overlooked some details that would have helped you find solutions to this war a long time ago.” He told me sternly, making me think carefully about the previous missions he was talking about, but I couldn't see the details he was talking about. It's making me look so stupid to be thinking so hard.

“Okay, I give up. If you have something to tell me, then out with it already. Stop making me think so hard." I told him firmly, earning an evil smirk from him.

“I don't know about the other missions you have handled, but from the mission you just told me about and even from Bethany’ case right now, it's easy to tell that you have been going at it the wrong way, you need to sit still and think hard. You just told me that the rogue Alphas used the powder on your people when they were together in the Alphas lodge, if that is the case, then thy were the rogue Alphas not affected by the powder, it would have weakened them too, right?” he asked me, making my eyes go wide as I understood exactly what he was talking about. If Alpha Robert used this powder on them, why was he able to escape, why was he not affected by the powder?

Holy f**k!

I've been so damn stupid. Lorenzo is right, I'm so thoughtless and stupid, I missed all the right details and I nearly led my people to their deaths. I knew I needed Lorenzo, but I had no idea that I needed him this badly. We would have been killed i he didn't point out these points to me. Damn, I'm so stupid, I'm such a fool. Ashford doesn’t want to fight a war with us, he is planning a m******e, not a war. He must have come up with a potion that would counter the effect of the potion on him and his boys. He must have known that I would do anything to win this war, he knows that I would never let him win. He has bee teaving clues for me, leading me on. He wants me to lead all my allies to war against him, and when he releases that powder it would weaken us all, giving him the advantage to slaughter us all. I never even bothered to find out how Alpha Richard ha gotten his hand on that powder that he brought back to me. I'm not saying that he betrayed, but it seems like he was set up to believe that he had stolen that powder. Alpha Robert wanted him to bring that powder back to me, that is why they let him steal it. They must have poisoned him with the wolfsbane so he wouldn't have enough time to tell me everything that happened in there with the other Alphas. I guess that is what he was about to tell me before he died. If only he had told me everything that happened to him, I would have been able to unravel his plans. But I missed the most important details, just like Lorenzo had said.

That must be why he took Bethany away, he wants me to come after him, he wants to use Bethany as bait to lure me and my boys into a trap that he had obviously set for us. I would have led every one of us to our deaths, how could I be so stupid? “It's all a trap, it's all a f*****g trap, goddam it! How could I be so stupid?” I asked out loudly, making Lorenzo laugh at my outburst.

“Yea, you are right. You're so damn stupid. But that is king Ashfords M.0, isn't it?

He makes you think you have everything under control, then he turns around and hits you so hard until your whole world comes tumbling. I bet he took your mate to draw you out of your territory, I heard your terrain is out of bounds to intruders. I'm guessing he doesn't want to go through the stress of breaking into your territory. “ he let out mockingly. He seems to have it all figured out and I have to wonder what he could be planning because right now, I've run out of plans and ideas, I have no idea what I'm going to do to save my mate. No matter how hard I think about it, I ways come to the same conclusion I have to turn myself in to save Bethany, I have to take the bait, I just have to, there is no other way. Or, is there?
