Dominic's POV

I couldn't think straight,

Hell, I couldn't even think at all. It is obvious to everyone that Bethany is my weakness and now king Ashford is exploiting m only weakness. She is a fool, a damn big fool. She has no idea what she is dealing with, she just puts herself in danger for ng damn reason. We found her stupid note that explains her reason for leaving, She thinks she is trying to make her mom and her sister, but she is wrong, so damn wrong. She just gave Ashford the only weapon he can use on me, she just handed him the key to winning this war to him on a platter of gold. I thought her father was only bluffing, but I was wrong, he wasn't kidding at all.

Immediately after rebound her note on Lorenzo's table, I put a call across to doctor Fred, I ordered Dwayne to move Bethany's mom and her sister to the hospital. It's a good thing that we did, if we had wasted any more time, we would have lost them because the chip on their heads was set on a timer, it was never about them, it was all about getting Bethany to believe that her family was in danger. Whether she had surrendered herself to them or not, that bastard was going to kill he family anyway. He had it planned out already, I was just too stupid to see this. We had carried out a test on them when they were brought in, but we never thought to do an electroencephalogram (EEG). We could have used An electroencephalogram to measure electrical activity in the brain using small, metal discs (electrodes) attached to the scalp. We would have prevented all this if I wasn't too distracted by Ciara's condition and the death of Alpha Richard who happens to be Harriet's father and a close friend of mine.

Bethany is such an i***t, she is so damn stupid. I guess she thought she could save them by surrendering herself to the mercy of King Ashford. For f***s sake, why would she think like that, I thought she understood the dangers we are all facing. She had witnessed firsthand the powers king Ashford possesses, she knows what he is capable of, yet she thought it wise to hand herself over to him on a platter of gold. I do der what her big plan was, maybe she thought she could outsmart king Ashford, or maybe she is prepared to hand herself over to him. She once had an encounter with him, she even fancied herself in love with him, maybe she left because she thought he would treat her better than me, maybe she has developed feelings for the bastard, I mean, who knows what could be going through that dumb brain of hers.

“I want to punch somebody," I growled out in frustration, punching the wall behind me, not minding the fact that Lorenzo is standing right in front of me and he is observing my every move, weighing my reaction while under pressure.

“Whoa... Whoa... Whoa...

Calm down man, I don't have anyone for you to punch, so keep your angry fist to yourself. I would have gladly offered you the security guard that let her walk through that gate, too bad he is dead already. You can either go over there and punch hi corpse as hard as you can, or you can go into the gym and take out your frustration on the punching bag. Either way, I'm going to sit right here and come up with a way to track her down and bring her back safely. The gym is that way." He told me with a smile, pointing towards his gym. I ignored the smirk on his face as I stormed into his gym to go and let off some steam.

“I need some time alone, tell Tyler to hack into the security cameras on the street, I want to know where she was taken to. Then find a way to reach the Lycan prince Declan, I want to know what he knows, I want to know what Ashford is planning to do with her. Tell him this is the only way I'm going to ever trust him, he needs to prove to me that he is truly my side." I told Carl through our mind link, while I went into the gym to take out my frustration on an innocent punching bag. I know I'm asking too much of him, but I just can't help it. If he wants to prove his allegiance to me, then this is the right time. I never accepted his help before, I hope things work in m favor this time, I hope the information I get from him would be enough to get me one step ahead of King Ashford this time. I don’t want to lose her, I can't survive this trauma, I simply can't.

This is the worst thing that could ever happen to me, this is just too awful. I guess it's true when they said that a woman is a man’s greatest weakness. This is why I don’t want a mate, this is I never wanted to have a mate, I never wished for one. I knew that once I took her as a mate, my enemies would know that she is my only weakness and they would use her against me. I could have pushed her away all this while, I should never have mated with her, I should never have claimed her as mine. Now I've not y put her life in danger, but I've also put the lives of my subjects in danger. I had to leave that office because I am of no use to anyone this way, I would only undermine their investigations and delay their progress in searchin; for her. If I don't clear my head, I could make a decision that could ruin everything I have been working for. I have the urge t turn myself in and offer my life in exchange for hers, but that will not help Bethany, it would make matters worse because Bethany would still be killed, I could even lose my life as well, and it will all be for nothing.

“We need you, my king, we have something” Carl told me through our mind link. Tyler traced her phones and we found out that all her phones had been discarded by the roadside. He was able to get the plate number of the car that picked her up, i took her into a garage, but it never came out. We abandoned everything and went to the garage to see if she was still held there. But we were too late, they had cleared out of the garage. They left the car and any other devices that we could use to track them down. We found another one of Bethany's phones, along with some clothes that I recognized as Bethany's clothes.

“They stripped her, and took off everything,” Harriet let out in tears. I guess I am not the only one that is hurt by her disappearance. Although, it's quite amazing to know that she had tried to sneak on one of her phones so she can be traced with it. I know that it had not worked, but she tried to give the lead that would lead us right to Ashford. She was being brave right to the end, she wasn't planning on leaving me, she was using herself as a bait to lead me right to him. But I wish she had given me a chance to help her, she could have come to me first before taking such a huge risk. Now I'm all alone and so confused and frustrated because I have no real leads to follow. It seems like her trail ends here, I'm guessing that king Ashford's guys got into another car and left the garage, we searched the entire building, but we could find her or her father. We had to go back home and come up with another plan. Just when we are about to leave the garage, one of Lorenzo's boys came to me with a phone that was found in the car that was first used to pick up Bethany, the same car that her clothes and phone were abandoned in.

It was a burner phone and it is untraceable. Tyler tried to break through the inscription and have into the network that Ashford is using to communicate with his boys, but we couldn't get in, it was just too secure and unbreakable. I called Docto Fred and he told me that he was still trying to get by the chips out of their heads without killing them. He has to inject a potion right on the spot where the chip was implanted. The potion would freeze the chip for a few minutes, then he would be able to perform the surgery and get it out in time before it blows up. I have another task for him, but I need him to save Bethany's family first, the other task can wait a few minutes, but this can't wait, they need to be out of harm's way before we can act.

“Are you always this way?" Lorenzo asked me when I ended my call with Dwayne and Doctor fred. I had no idea that he has been looking at me, I was too busy trying to come up with something that could help us win this game that Ashford is playin and get back Bethany. We haven't had a chance to talk about our coalition and I just realized that I have been sidelining him on this investigation. If we have to work together, then I need to share everything I know with him, I need to let him in so he can help. His boys have been working blindly because they don't have all the facts. I gave to being him in fully, I need all the help I can get if I wish to save Bethany.

“I think it's time we talk, Lorenzo.”
