Alec’s

Chapter 0189

I quietly pass some of Alec's pack members. Some wave at me, but I ignore them. One, because I find their actions hypocritical. I mean, why, all of a sudden, am I now a good person? Just because their alpha told them that he made a mistake, and they conveniently forgot what they did to me. No. It doesn't work like that. And two, I have more important things to think and worry about. Apart from the kids in this pack, the rest don't really matter to me. I quicken my steps, and for a moment I think about teleporting, but I quickly push that idea aside and continue walking.

Minutes later, I'm standing outside Raven's room. Her scent is strong, so I know she's inside.

I knock and wait. We are like sisters, but that doesn't mean that I have permission to enter her room whenever I feel like it.

"Come in," comes her soft voice.

Twisting the knob, I open the door and enter, then close it behind me. I'm shocked to find her still in her pajamas, lying across the bed. Raven is the kind of person who is always on the go. It's rare to find her still in bed at this time of the day. She's usually up at the crack of dawn, always doing something.

I take a seat on the bed just as she slightly lifts her head, and I get a view of her face. There are dark circles under her eyes, and she looks exhausted and worn out. Looking at her, it finally hits me that I am not the only one this damn curse is draining. "You don't look so great," I murmur, watching as she flops back on the bed with a tired groan.

"Speak for yourself," she answers, "In comparison, I actually look like a goddess, while you look like you crawled your way from the pits of hell."

"Hey, I don't look that bad." I retort.

She chuckles before pulling herself into a sitting position.

She's joking, but deep down I know she is absolutely right. How could I look anything other than a walking zombie when I am constantly stressed and tired? I barely get enough sleep to function with all the weird dreams I get.

Shaking my head to rid myself of those thoughts, I focus on Raven. "I was thinking of a day out. Just like we used to do. We both need it and Aspen would be ecstatic to spend time with us."

"Yes!" she all but screams, jumping out of bed with a broad smile plastered on her lips.

"Didn't think you'd be this excited." I narrow my eyes, hiding my smile. "I used to force you to take a break."

Raven always had her head buried in one of the many witch books left behind by her mother. I literally had to drag her out of her room or the library so she could take a break.

A small smile forms on my lips as I watch her rush to her closet, almost tripping in the process. She starts throwing clothes around as she speaks.

"Usually your would have had to, but not today she says while inspecting a blue vest top. "If I think one more time about the damn curse or Kaden, my head will explode into tiny little pieces." en FindNovel

"You are being dramatic."

She pins me with a look that dares me to dispute her words, "Am I?"

I press my lips into a thin line in an effort to stop my laughter from bubbling out. As much as I find it funny, I can relate. After all, isn't that the same reason I decided on this outing? I felt I was about to lose my mind from all the thinking was

doing.

"I'll leave you to it." I stand up, heading towards the door. "I need to get ready too and also inform Martha that we will be leaving."

"I'll be ready in less than fifteen minutes."

I nod my head and then leave her

room. Once I'm outside, I take a deep, slow breath before closing my eyes briefly. I then focus on Martha. I think of all my powers; telepathy is the easiest, given that I

communicate with my packOVÉ

members through mind-link.

"Yes, Sadie?" comes her soothing and soft voice.

"Hi Martha," I answer sheepishly. I may have had years to get used to mind-linking the wolves in my pack, but with Martha, it's still so new. "I was wondering if Aspen is with you."

"Yes, she is. She's actually playing with one of her new friends."

My mind immediately goes to the night she asked about her father. I can't help but wonder if it's the same kid that had opened her eyes to the fact that every child has a dad. "Can both of you get ready and meet me in the garage?"

"Sure can. See you in a few."

I'd been so focused on my communication with Martha that everything else faded into the horizon. So, when I bump into someone, I'm caught completely by surprise. "Sorry," I groan, rubbing my forehead, where our heads had smacked together.

Rubbing my sore forehead, I look up at the person only to stop dead in my tracks.

Piper is also massaging her forehead. She freezes in her spot when she notices who she's bumped into.
