Chapter 78. The Dragon's Fury

The hurt that I felt from the tortured dragon, flared up my emotions, to the point of no return. I don’t know what I was feeling, but this felt different than the Mage’s Fury. Nor did I have those dreadful thoughts, as I did when the warrior took over, so it isn’t that either. I was slightly relieved that my body wasn't in any danger, as the Mage's Fury, could hurt my babies. But what was it this time then?

This time I wasn’t lifted from the ground, and this time I was completely aware of what I was doing.

It felt animalistic, and strong, but I was completely in control.

I looked at my hands, and saw tiny black scales appear on my skin! My nails turned black and formed into sharp points. With my hands I felt my face, and there too, appeared those same scales. On my forehead and cheeks the scales were forming, and I could feel my ears change as well.

Then, I felt a strange sensation on top of my head, and when I reached up, trying to feel what was happening, I could feel two ribbed horns growing out of my head!

I screamed out, as the horns kept growing and tearing through the flesh and bones of my skull.

I looked onto one of the dragonscales, that laid around in a crate. They were glass- like, and mirrored my appearance.

Oh fuck! My eyes were glowing purple and my body was partially turning into a dragon! I looked behind me at the tortured dragon, and reality struck me! The one that talked to me in my mind when my eyes turned purple, was the dragon all along! Ayinthur is the dragon!

“Ow, your screwed now!” I heard Axel say towards our enemy, behind me.

I turned around and everyone, including Victoria and her companion, took several steps backwards, in fear of what they saw.

“Wh - What the hell is she?! Kill her!” Victoria yelled, no longer wanting to keep me alive, for her to take my powers. She is terrified right now, just as she should be!

I was not afraid, not the slightest part of me thought about getting hurt. Arrows were shot, but bounced off my body. The mages tried to use their magic on me, but I countered their shields with magic of my own. With the flick of my wrist, I burned their bodies, from the inside out. Letting them scream in terror, before their blackened, charcoaled bodies dropped to the floor.

This power was so much more powerful than the Mage's Fury! It made me feel invincible, and that scared me as well. What if this power came into the hands of this wicked Victoria?

The others from our group, started to attack, and grabbed weapons from the dead rebels and Orcs. But soon, the cave started to fill with more rebels. I don’t know where they came from, as a lot kept pouring in.

The new fighters cornered us in the back of the cave, close to the dying dragon.

Victoria laughed, she thought that she was having the upper hand right now.

“Breathe fire.” Ayinthur’s voice said in my head. I turned my head around, and I could see him being awake, but barely alive.

Brock’s point of view:

I sincerely hope that this is a temporary ability, because I’d like to see her back into her human form, instead of her being part dragon! I don’t know where those scales are on her body, as her gear is covering most of it. But I sure don’t like to find out, if they are at inappropriate places!

She is walking forward now, focusing the attention of all the attackers towards her. A loud dragon’s roar came from her throat and her body began to glow purple! She took in a deep breath, and the purple glow that resided in all of her limbs, flowed together into her chest, and left her mouth with a fiery force!

The purple fire that erupted from her, incinerated all of the attackers. Including Victoria and her Orc companion. Nothing but piles of ashes, and the horrid smell of burned flesh, was left inside the cave. She checked if there were more rebels or Orcs, but when there were none, she turned around.

“Cirilya, call for the Goddess!” Emily said at her, as she ran over to the dragon. She petted the dragons head and whispered soothing words to him. Within a few moments, the Moonlight Goddess appeared in front of Cirilya.

Emily’s point of view:

“I think you know, what I am about to ask of you.” I said to the Goddess.

“Yes I do, but what will you give me in return?”

I didn’t have to think long about that question. I just wanted peace and calmness in my mind, I’m not eager to find more trouble or adventures anymore. Those things aren’t made for me. All I want is my connection with animals, the love of Brock and a safe haven for my babies. Nothing else.

“The dragon’s powers, I don’t want them. It is too dangerous for the future, two persons already tried to take my powers, so others could try as well. And if this power falls into the wrong hands, who knows what will happen then? I already know, and feel, that my other specialties will be transferred to my children. So, the powers will be shared, and no longer be in the hands of one single person.” I said.

“You agree with me, don’t you Cirilya?” I asked her, when I turned my face towards her.

“Yes, I do, but it has always been your decision, and your path to walk, onto the destiny of the chosen one.” She answered. Exactly the answer that I was waiting for, good, then I’m making the right decision.

I nodded towards the Goddess, and a smile came upon her face.

“Your wish shall be granted.”

“Brock, I need you, because this is going to hurt as hell.”

He came rushing in, holding me tightly from behind, as the Goddess started her chanting. Just like I have seen and felt before, my body crumbled together from the agonizing pain, and I couldn’t breathe for quite some time. Then, a purple orb started to leave my chest, and I screamed loudly.

Brock let me slide to the floor, but kept holding me tightly, saying soothing words and letting me squeeze his body with all the force I got.

The scales on my skin and the long black nails, went inside my body again, disappearing from sight. The horns on top of my head, swirled back inside too. Leaving my human form, in the powerful hands of Brock.

I nearly passed out, but luckily I didn’t. Brock sighed, he was glad that I was Human again, and I smiled.

The purple orb was taken away from me, floating towards Ayinthur. He on his turn, roared and screamed in agony, when it entered his chest. The purple glow of the orb, dispersed throughout his body. Especially to where the scales were torn out. The blood that came out of the gaps, stopped flowing, and new scales were formed on the same spots. The black shiny, glass-like scales, shimmered in the fiery light of the torches in the cave. At the same time, the silver shackles that surrounded his body and kept him tied down to the floor, broke, and slid off his body. His wings came loose, paws started to move, and energy soared through his veins once more.

Ayinthur opened his eyes and shook his body, like a wet dog, as if he was trying to get rid of the water in his fur.

“Don’t you dare call me a dog!” The beautiful black obsidian dragon said. And I laughed out loud. Apparently our minds are still shared.

“Hi there Ayinthur, how are you feeling?” I asked him, still lying on the floor in Brock’s arms, with a big smile on my face.

Apart from the Goddess, who still stood with us in the cave, all of the others gasped. They hadn’t realized that the dragon is the one that spoke to me, when I got purple eyes. As this was the first time I addressed to the dragon with his name. But I guess that his identity is not the only reason why they looked in awe. They didn’t even know that dragons could talk! Nor did I, in the first place, but when I realized that the dragon was in fact the same being, as the one who talked in my head, I got the feeling that he could.

“Well, the moment you called me beautiful, made me feel a lot better.” He replied to my question.

“Good.”

But there was something else that I had to do here, and the Goddess was waiting for it. Normally she would have been gone already, but she knew that I needed her for one more thing.

“Could you all go outside please? I have something else to discuss with the Goddess.” I asked everyone, but Brock stayed, still hugging me tightly.

By now, Brock had lifted me from the ground and we stood up, still holding me tightly.

“Brock love, you too. It’s nothing dangerous, and it won’t hurt me. It is just something that I need to know.” I said calmly to him, with a gentle smile.

“Okay love. But you will return to me, right?” He let go of me when I said I would. He looked towards the Goddess, asking silently for her answer as well. She smiled to him in return, and nodded her head.

Brock’s point of view:

I didn’t like it, but I walked outside the cave, not knowing what she was going to do with the Goddess.

“Is she alright? What did she say?” Archeops asked me, and the others looked at me.

“I don’t know, she made me leave too. But I don’t think, she will ever tell anyone.” I said to him.
