Chapter 76. Bear Attack
“Ogg, magogck!”
“I’m not running, you fool!” I yelled at him, reaching for a new stack of arrows that the servants just brought.
“Archeops, send a few hunters and warriors to the centre, I’m too busy to keep Cirilya safe!” I said through the mind link to him.
“Shit woman, couldn’t you take one of your own size?” Brock said to me, when he blocked one of the giant Orc’s swings. Saving me just at the right time. I smiled, Brock always has the tendency to help me at the right moment, and saying the right things.
“A girl has got to stay busy, right?” I said to him, as I gave him a kiss, while we dodged another attack.
“You protect Cirilya, while she keeps on healing our men, and I’ll take care of Shrek here.”
“Shrek?” Brock asked.
“Explain later, go!” Too little time, to explain that movie.
Ursai swiped at another Orc, slicing his claws through his face, breaking his neck on impact. While the giant kept on charging my way, and almost hit my stomach, with an horizontal swing.
I stepped back, and smiled. My turn!
“Are you ready Ursai?” He nodded, and I could feel my eyes practically burn, bluer than a clear ocean on a sunny day. My adrenaline shot through the roof, as I know what Ursai was going to do next. This ability is by far, the most amazing one that I can muster, together with Ursai. I just love being a hunter, and I’m glad that it is my strongest feat.
Some of my mages abilities are fun, but some are just completely crazy, and I don’t feel the need to learn a lot into that speciality. And the warrior doesn’t feel like it belongs to me either, it’s too primal, too raw, for my liking. The thoughts that I got, when my eyes turned gold, weren’t my own. I don’t feel the same connection with those specialities, as I do with my hunter. I love all the parts, the communication with the animals, the abilities of my pets, the feeling of using my bow… just everything. Especially this next part, which I found out, when I had my secret training with Axel.
“Go Ursai!”
His eyes turned bright, glowing blue, just like mine, and the roar that he let out, was amazingly loud! It was so loud, that it shook the ground, and knocked the giant a few steps back. Half of the battlefield, stopped fighting for a moment and turned to look our way.
A wide grin spread across my face.
The men from our army, that stood the closest around us, in approximately a thirty yard perimeter, got slight blue eyes as well. They looked to their own body, noticing that their muscles were stronger, and their energy was replenished. A smile came upon their faces.
“Have fun guys!” I said, and loud roars from the men and woman were heard, and everywhere around us, they started to push back the rebels, creating a larger circle in the middle.
Cirilya had finished healing the wounded in the circle, and she could take a break for a moment. She watched, how all the empowered people, pushed their way outwards. She laughed, this was new to her too.
But that was not all.
“Let’s take it up a notch, Ursai! Show them, what you are really capable off!”
****
Brock’s point of view:
What the hell?! I looked at my body, and I could feel new energy rushing through my veins. I was getting tired after fighting for such a long time, but this battle-roar from Ursai, renewed my strength!
But the fight wasn’t over yet. I decided to stay close to Emily, and keep an eye out for her, watching what her bear was up to next. She just told him to go even further. But what did she mean by that?
Ursai roared once more, not as loud as he did earlier, but still quite ferocious. The white stripe on his back, and his white paws got a blue glow, and I could see that his black fur was starting to change! On his shoulders, back, flanks, and on top of his head, his fur changed into tough scales. Just like those of the shield of a tortoise, but then a solid black, leather like patches. He had created his own natural armor around his body! Then his paws started to enlarge, and his claws reached out, longer than they were before.
Both Emily and Ursai, roared together, and charged their way onto the giant green Orc. The Orc on his turn, looked in awe to what just happened, but shook his head and charged towards Ursai. He was brave, I’d give him that.
Ursai was quick and avoided the Orc’s swing. Then, he quickly swiped the axe out of his hands and the Orc stumbled backwards, when Emily shot an arrow in his ankle. The Orc fell down, and Ursai pounced onto his chest. Ursai’s claws bored into the green flesh, and the Orc screamed in agony. Then without a single thought, Ursai roared in his face, and tore out his throat.
The other Orcs around us gasped, when they saw their prized champion soulless. Some of their hunters shot arrows towards Ursai and Emily. The arrows that came towards Ursai, bounced off from his protective shield, the arrows didn't bother him at all. Emily her focus was onto these arrows as well, as she handily dodged them, or knocked them aside with her bow.
Emily and Ursai are a pair, exactly made for each other. They have this bond together, that is almost unfathomable.
Cirilya has told us, that the hunter part was inherited, and the others were gifted. But even if she hadn’t told us that, it was still very clear to see. The hunter part, is what belongs to her. All of the other powers, could be stolen if it were for her. She is happy, that they will be passed on to our children, and I hope that they feel more related to those powers. The Goddess works in mysterious ways!
By now, half the battlefield was cleared of enemies. Everywhere were dead bodies, from mostly rebels. The power that was given to us by Ursai, slowly dissipated, and the slight blue glow, left our eyes again.
Emily had sent Ursai to his den, to rest, he did an amazing job but was extremely tired now. He has given his all for today.
But the war was far from over. Yes, we were on the winning team now, but something was nagging at me. We still hadn’t seen the black-haired woman, and the big Orc she was with. Besides that, this person ‘Ayinthur’, where is he? And where is this dragon he talked about?
I know, that Emily has seen the black tail of an obsidian dragon, in her vision. But you can’t hide a dragon that big, for such a long time. We hadn’t heard it roar, or seen his body, not even in the sky.
And those purple eyes of hers, where did they come from? What kind of magic is involved there?
The rebels drew back into the forest, and our army retreated towards the castle. Some much needed sleep and food was required. For today, the battle has ended. We won this round. But tomorrow, everything would continue again.
