Chapter 74. ...Come to an End
The loud sounds from the horns, kept calling to our attention, as three people stepped out of the forest. I could see two Orcs, both sitting on a rhydian, and one female Human, who sat upon a horse.
“They want to talk to us.” Brock said when he stood next to me.
“Yes, I figured. I’m coming with you.” I said, and Brock nodded.
Brock whistled for Nightwing to come. He was already close by, as I had let Melina and Jock watch over Bastet and her eggs.
I jumped on Ursai’s back, and followed my dad and Brock towards the forest. The army split up, creating a path wide enough, for Ursai and me to pass through. I could see some faces turning towards us, but none of them were in fear, they are all looking proud and some slightly bowed their heads. I wanted to smile to them, and nod to everyone who I could see bow, but this was not the time. My focus lies on the people ahead, and as we walked closer, I could see their gaze focusing on me.
Brock and my dad flew over us, with their gryphons, and I saw Cirilya fly behind them as well, in her owl form. They landed on the ground, in front of the three people. Cirilya stayed in her owl form, standing close to me. I got off of Ursai and stood next to my dad and Brock.
The three people stepped off their animals as well, and when they stood directly in front of us, I recognized the female.
She is the female from my vision, when we had tortured Markus. She’s the mage who had shown him where I was, at the mountains!
Her raven-black hair, loosely draped on her shoulders and back. She is pretty, and about the same age as my dad, maybe a few years older.
I could see her eyes squint, as she tried to read my mind. For a split second, confusion spread across her face, as she was not able to get anything from me. Good! I have been practicing with Cirilya and Nicolai, to keep my mind blocked from other mages, and I guess it is working.
“I can see, you can control two pets at the same time. Such strong hunter-powers shouldn’t belong to a measly girl like you!” She spat out, while looking up and down my body.
I am controlling two pets? What does she… Oh wait. I grinned on the inside. She thinks that Cirilya is my pet owl! She doesn’t know that we have a druid! We have to keep them thinking that way. So, I acted quickly, and petted Cirilya’s head. I was relieved that Cirilya got the same idea as me, as she squeaked softly, as a response on me petting her. Cirilya was going to be angry at this woman, for calling her a pet!
We have an advantage, if we kept them in the dark about this information. I sincerely hoped, that this black-haired woman wouldn’t try to read Cirilya’s mind, otherwise she would still find out about it.
“So, when are you going to leave? Because, as you can clearly see, we are prepared for your arrival.” My dad said, as he pointed towards our army.
“Leave? Do you really think that I’m going to leave? Even though, I’m unaware of how you know that we were coming, I’m still going to kill everyone here. And when I’m done, I’m going to steal those powers from your precious daughter. It was my plan all along to steal those powers, but that stupid son of mine, thought that he could take them for himself!” The woman replied.
So, that’s why Markus was all alone, when he came to my ‘rescue’. His allegedly murdered mother, had planned to take my powers, but his own greed was bigger than his intelligence.
Is this woman that stupid, to tell us all of her intel on the first meet? No, this woman is much smarter than she appears. She made the Orcs to follow her, and join her fight. So, there must be something that she has, for them to tag along.
There is one more thing, that they are withholding, and that is the dragon. Ayinthur said, that they would bring along a dragon, but I haven’t seen him yet. So, we have to be careful in our actions, and keep an eye out for the dragon’s appearance. Luckily, they don’t know that we have this information, so we are one step in front of them.
Brock’s point of view:
“Shlamogg takok gara oktak!” The smallest of the two Orcs said, and the other one laughed at it.
“I dare you, to say that one more time!” Emily screamed at him, while drawing her bow, aiming an arrow towards the Orc’s face.
“Gara oktak, kagorg tamoog.” He said firmly, not afraid, and clearly unaware of what she is capable off.
Shit! I hoped that this wouldn’t happen. As they know now, she can understand the Orc’s language as well. If this black-haired woman knows anything about the ‘chosen’, then this would be her confirmation on the matter.
The Orc must have said something bad, to draw out this reaction from Emily. But before I could stop her, she released the arrow and it pierced the Orc’s head, right between the eyes.
The bigger Orc, looked in awe towards his dead companion, and then started to laugh maniacally.
What the hell is going on here?!
“Gorrogh mosh gockta, ptoreck tagog.” He said, and then turned around and walked into the forest, his rhydian following behind him. The woman smiled, and followed her Orc companion.
Emily screamed blood and murder, but this time I grabbed her around the waist. Preventing her, from killing this Orc too. Of course, she can kill any rebel and Orc she wants, but not on the front line. I can’t protect her like this, as we can’t see the enemy army, that stands in the forest.
I dragged her backwards, while the King said some words to her as well. She finally calmed down, and I lifted her on Ursai.
“I don’t know what the Orcs said, but you will have your revenge love, he will be yours to kill.” I said to her, and she looked me in the eyes, sighed, but acknowledged my statement. I could clearly see that she was ashamed for letting herself go. She knows that it would have been better, for her, to not react to them. But as she did, they must have been saying something so hateful, that she couldn’t restrain herself. Luckily, her eyes were still her own blue colour, and not fury red.
Emily’s point of view:
That son of a bitch! Talking this foul about my mother! That filthy, green poisonous creature! He didn’t deserve to die like this, he deserved much worse, for what he said about her!
When we were out of sight, Cirilya transformed to her Elf form again, and walked inside the tent to get dressed. She walked over to me, and put her hand on my belly. She told me to listen to her, and I could hear the babies heartbeats, and I breathed calmly again.
If just two sentences of foul words, can make me angry like this, then I don’t know how to restrain myself when I actually go into battle.
“You have to kill that woman for me though, as that stupid wench thought that I was your pet!” She said, and I laughed.
“There, that’s what I want to see. Just keep smiling, and keep thinking of your babies. Because you will get to see a lot more pain, torture and death, during the battle.” She said, when she put a hand on my cheek.
