Chapter 72. Safekeeping
Two, of the most important people in my life, stood before me, waiting for my answer.
Shit! What am I going to say? I was dreading this intervention for the past few hours already. Since no one asked about it at all. But I didn’t got the chance, to think about what I was going to say, when someone actually did ask me. I don’t want to lie to them, but I don’t want them to be overprotective either. They need my powers to win this battle.
I sighed.
“Please promise me, that you two, won’t put me in a room when you hear what I have to say.” I said to them softly.
When they didn’t answer me, and just kept on looking angry towards me, I continued.
“I’m not sure if you are happy with it, as the timing sucks, but Brock…”
I sighed again.
“…your wish is coming true, and pretty soon too.” I said to him, looking him straight in the eyes.
I’m sure that he is going to get mad at me, for not telling earlier. Or that he and my dad, want to keep me in a room, hidden inside the castle somewhere.
“What do you mean love?” Brock asked me frowning, and my dad chuckled.
“Brock, you might be my army’s general, and a strong and intelligent man. But now, you are being just plain stupid.” My dad said to him, and Brock looked into my dad’s eyes, when he patted him on the shoulders.
I smiled at my dad’s reaction, and was relieved that he wasn’t angry at me. I walked over to Brock, and put his face in my hands, guiding his confused eyes towards me.
“You know I love you, to the moon and back again. We are going to be husband and wife, as soon as this battle has ended. But, that is not the only thing that reassures my love towards you. My destiny is soon going to be fulfilled, and you are the one that made that possible.” I said to him.
His eyes started to sparkle and grew really large. His mouth dropped open, and I could hear him stop breathing. It finally made sense to him, but he doesn’t dare to say it out loud.
“A- Are… Are you?” He stuttered.
“Yes love, you are going to be a dad soon.”
Before I knew it, he grabbed me around my waist, lifted me up in the air, and turned around in a circle. He made noises of joy, screaming out loud. My dad was laughing and even cried a little.
Brock put me down, and gave me a hug. Dad came walking towards us, and gave us both a hug as well. I asked Brock if he was happy, but he only responded with a nod and a good kiss. We stood there, for a minute or two, before realisation about the battle sank into Brock’s mind.
“I’m not going to let you go into battle, not like this!” Brock said to me.
“Yes you are, you need me.” I said calmly.
“I don’t care! We need to keep you safe!” Brock yelled.
I had to reason with him, with a calm voice, and good arguments. As being angry towards him, wouldn’t help me.
“I won’t be on the frontline, I’ll stay back unless my powers are really necessary. Besides that, I have been training a lot with shields. Please, let me show you.”
I do have been training a lot with the shields, the last couple of days. Every time I had a little hour to myself, I practiced creating them. I managed to create and keep up, three shields at the same time.
So, I stepped backwards until I stood in the middle of the war room.
I closed my eyes for a moment, and took some calm breaths. When I opened them, I knew that my eyes were red, as Brock and my dad looked at me in awe. I have seen my red eyes in the mirror in my room, and I was stunned as well, when that occurred.
I raised my left hand and flicked my wrist.
Brock’s point of view:
My soon to be wife, and apparently, soon to be mother of my child, stood in the middle of the room. Her beautiful eyes gleaming red, and she smiled towards me.
When she put her hand up and created that shield around herself, I was stunned that she did that with such ease. I know I have seen her practice those shields a lot, but I didn’t know that she was so progressive with them already. Then, when she lifted herself with the shield and moved around the room a bit, I was even more impressed. I’m not sure that I have seen any mage do, what she did now.
My nerves were calming down a bit, she was capable of keeping herself safe. Not only because she is strong as hell, and really amazing in battle, but also because of these shields. At first, I did want to put her into a room, safely secured and locked up. But, I knew she was going to break out anyway, if I would try to do that. And due to all the experience we have been through, the last couple of months, it assured me of the fact that she is one hell of a woman.
She landed on the ground again, and her eyes turned to her usual light blue colour again.
“There is something else that I need to tell you two.” Emily said.
She explained to us, that she found out that she was pregnant a few days ago. But she was afraid to tell me, not knowing how I would react to the news.
I frowned at her, but I didn’t got angry for it. If she would have told me earlier, I wouldn’t have allowed it, for her to come along. But now that we are surprised by the rebels coming here, instead of us going to the mountains, I didn’t want to lock her up. Neither do I want to keep her somewhere in the castle, as the last time an important woman – her mother - got secured in a room, she unfortunately got killed by assassins. I’d rather have her close to me, so I can keep an eye on her.
“Cirilya has to keep a close eye to me as well, she needs to be with me at all times.” Emily responded to my thoughts.
I frowned to her again, why would specifically Cirilya stay with her? I know she is a good friend but we could use her at the mages front.
“No, she has to stay with me, as I can hear the babies heartbeats through her animal ears as…”
She kept on explaining something about the Mage’s Fury being dangerous, but I couldn’t keep my mind straight. Did she just say babies? As in, more than one baby?
“Yes, I said babies, plural. Ayinthur said that, and I guess both of the babies heartbeats are completely in sync, as I could only hear one line of heartbeats. So, it must be an magical identical twin.” Emily smiled to me, when she said that.
I guess, her mind reading abilities are developed much more as well, as she read my mind during her explanation.
“Then Cirilya needs to stay with you, ask her to come back, so we can come up with a plan.” The King said.
“Oh, she already did.” Cirilya said, when she came into the room.
Cirilya told us everything about Emily her history, and about the Mage’s Fury. Then, we decided to where they both should be, during the battle, and we made a plan.
