Chapter 524 Offer Madeline With Gifts From Audrey
Chapter 524 Offer Madeline With Gifts From Audrey
Amy didn't want to meet them at first, but Rebecca kept insisting that she had something very major to discuss with her.
Since she had nothing better to do, she agreed to meet her at a coffee shop nearby Sculpting in Time.
This time, Rebecca's attitude was completely different from when Amy saw her yesterday.
Yesterday, she might appear polite, but in reality, a sense of superiority and contempt could be seen in her eyes when she looked at her.
Although she had a smile on her face, she silently looked down on Amy, assuming that she was a big shot while Amy was at the bottom of society.
But now, Rebecca's attitude toward Amy completely changed.
There was politeness, wariness, embarrassment, and various mixed emotions except arrogance and contempt.
Nonetheless, it was to be expected, considering her current condition no longer allowed her to look down on Amy.
Both Audrey and Rebecca sat across from Amy.
Compared to Rebecca's embarrassed and awkward state, since Audrey had never met Amy before and had never had any conflicts with her, she was slightly more relaxed when facing her.
After praising Amy with a smile, Audrey pushed the gift she had brought until it stopped before Amy. "Miss Atkinson, I have brought my daughter to apologize to you. I have been spoiling Becca so much that she doesn't know how to handle affairs properly. In truth, she and Noah broke up a long time ago. She should have kept her distance from him to avoid doing anything that might arouse suspicion. But since they grew up together, she thought they could still be friends, even if they couldn't be lovers. If I must say, such a thought of hers is too immature!"
Glancing at Rebecca reproachfully, she sighed and shook her head. "We have been protecting and pampering her too much to the point that she behaves too naive and half-baked. Her Dad and I have taught her a lesson. We told her that since she and Noah couldn't be lovers, she must keep a distance from him; best if she could stop meeting him. And even if she accidentally bumps into him, she should pretend she doesn't know him!"
Then, she withdrew her gaze and turned to Amy. "Her dad and I scolded her for hours last night. She finally realized her mistake, so today, I brought her here to apologize to you."
As she spoke, Audrey secretly pinched Rebecca under the table.
Rebecca had no choice but to endure the humiliation and embarrassment in her heart. Forcing a smile, she said to Amy, "My mom is right. I was immature before and didn't keep my distance from Noah. I realized my mistake after my parents scolded me. Hence, from now on, I will stop meeting Noah. And even if we accidentally meet, I will pretend not to know him too."
Instead of responding, Amy smiled and looked at the mother-and-daughter duo.
The two felt increasingly awkward under her gaze, especially Rebecca, who was young and thin-
skinned. Moreover, this was the first time she had to humble herself and apologize to someone face to face, let alone that someone was her love rival. For that reason, her face was currently flushed with shame, wishing so badly that she could dig a hole and hide in it.
Seeing that Amy was silent, Audrey swiftly opened the mahogany box she brought. "Miss Atkinson, this is a gift from my daughter and me as a token of our sincerity in apologizing to you. A naturally born beauty like you suit this set of ruby jewelry the most."
Inside this mahogany box is a set of ruby jewelry that I have carefully picked.
Since I can swallow my pride and come here to apologize, I have to spend a little lavishly on gifts.
Otherwise, I would have suffered from disgrace for nothing if my gift was not good enough to impress Amy.
This set of ruby jewelry was one of Audrey's favorites. She bought it through an auction when the Richardson Family's financial status was still at its peak.
Because of that, Audrey found it extremely hard to part with the set of jewelry the moment she decided to give it to Amy.
However, she knew that Amy would definitely detest her if she gave her something that even she disliked, and all the humiliation she experienced would go down the drain when that happened.
Thus, she gritted her teeth, set her mind, put the set of ruby jewelry into a box, and decided to give it to Amy.
Compared to her, Rebecca felt even more distressed when she saw her giving the jewelry set to Amy. After all, it was something that Audrey reluctantly parted with even when she asked her for it. Originally, Audrey planned to give it to Rebecca as a dowry when she got married. Yet, never once did it cross her mind that things would turn out this way.
Audrey sighed inwardly. Because we are the unfortunate souls who get into trouble with Ewan's sister, we have no other option other than buying peace with valuables.
Even though Amy didn't know much about gemstones, solely judging from the style and color, she could tell that this set of ruby jewelry was of great value.
She looked at the ruby jewelry and thought for a moment. Then, she suddenly smiled brightly and took the box. "Okay. I forgive you. Also, I am serious about having decided to break up with Noah. He and I are no longer together since yesterday. So, Miss Richardson, you can continue to pursue Noah if you have feelings for him. I am highly optimistic that it will succeed."
A b*tch and a b*stard. What a happily ever after!
As I see it, a b*tch like Rebecca and a sc*m like Noah are meant to be a couple. They should be together lest plaguing others.
Audrey looked at Amy anxiously and doubtfully, not knowing if she was speaking sincerely or sarcastically.
"I know what you're thinking. You're afraid that I will complain to Ewan, right? Don't worry." Amy closed the box and shook it in her hand. "As they say, 'Gifts blind the eyes.' Thank you for the gift. I will talk to
Ewan. It's my affair. So, I will handle it myself. I won't let him take it out on you."
Upon hearing that, Audrey swiftly expressed her gratitude. "Miss Atkinson, you truly are magnanimous. Thank you so much!"
Then, she kicked Rebecca under the table, causing her to force a stiff smile at Amy. "Thank you."
"You're welcome!" Amy stood up with the box in her hands. "That's it then. Let's consider ourselves even. And even if we meet again in the future, let's pretend we don't know each other."
Holding the box, she left the coffee shop in a joyful mood.
Although it wasn't her character to take advantage of others, she quite enjoyed seeing people she disliked suffer.
Based on the painful expressions on their faces when Audrey took out the ruby necklace and showed it to her earlier, she could clearly tell that it was her and Rebecca's beloved piece of jewelry.
Amy felt good when she saw the two feel suffocated, and as for Ewan, since he was a very busy man, she never intended to complain about this matter to him and seek his help to take revenge on Rebecca in the first place.
Ewan's time was extremely valuable. In addition, she wasn't a three-year-old who would run home to find her parents after getting bullied outside.
To Amy, she considered herself lucky to have discovered Noah's true colors in advance. It would have been tragic if she only realized it after marrying him!
Once she returned to Sculpting in Time, Amy couldn't wait to find Madeline. She told her what had happened and then passed the set of ruby jewelry to her as a gift.
Although Madeline couldn't accompany her because she was busy, she still assigned her bodyguards to protect Amy when she went out just now.
Seeing as how Madeline took good care of her and was her savior, Amy already had it all figured out the second after Audrey said she would give this set of ruby jewelry to her. She wanted to transfer the gift to Madeline.
With skin as fair as snow, Madeline would look gorgeous wearing the flaming red ruby jewelry.
However, Madeline declined, "It's too expensive. I can't accept it. Ewan has paid the entrustment fee, so it's my responsibility to take care of you!"
"Maddie, don't act like a stranger with me." Amy forcefully stuffed the box into her hand. "You are my savior, and no amount of expensive gifts can express my gratitude to you, let alone this is a gift from Rebecca. How unsightly it will be if I keep it with me. Am I right? So, it's perfect to offer it to you as a gift!"
